Strong interest exists in the development of organic–inorganic lead halide perovskite photovoltaics and of photoelectrochemical (PEC) tandem absorber systems for solar fuel production. However, their scalability and durability have long been limiting factors. In this work, it is revealed how both fields can be seamlessly merged together, to obtain scalable, bias‐free solar water splitting tandem devices. For this purpose, state‐of‐the‐art cesium formamidinium methylammonium (CsFAMA) triple cation mixed halide perovskite photovoltaic cells with a nickel oxide (NiOx) hole transport layer are employed to produce Field's metal‐epoxy encapsulated photocathodes. Their stability (up to 7 h), photocurrent density (–12.1 ± 0.3 mA cm?2 at 0 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode, RHE), and reproducibility enable a matching combination with robust BiVO4 photoanodes, resulting in 0.25 cm2 PEC tandems with an excellent stability of up to 20 h and a bias‐free solar‐to‐hydrogen efficiency of 0.35 ± 0.14%. The high reliability of the fabrication procedures allows scaling of the devices up to 10 cm2, with a slight decrease in bias‐free photocurrent density from 0.39 ± 0.15 to 0.23 ± 0.10 mA cm?2 due to an increasing series resistance. To characterize these devices, a versatile 3D‐printed PEC cell is also developed. 相似文献

Summary The endotoxin fromAspergillus fumigatus was studied and appears to be protein in character. Attempts to purify the material by fractional precipitation with acetone resulted in increase of hemolytic and toxic potencies. The hemolytic activity of the toxin is stable from pH 3.6 to 8.4.Electrophoretic analysis enabled the assignment of hemolytic activity to a definite electrophoretic component.Chromatography with DEAE cellulose using gradient elution effected increase in hemolytic activity. The bioassay for toxic activity is less quantitative than the assay for the hemolytic activity.Column electrophoresis confirmed the assignment of hemolytic potency to an electrophoretic component. Recovery of activity was low in this method.Both the hemolytic and toxic activities occur in the same electrophoretic component; however, there is evidence that they may be separate components.Adapted from a Thesis submitted byEvelyn M. Thermocron iButton dataloggers are widely used to measure thermal microclimates experienced by wild animals. The iBBat is
a smaller version of the datalogger, also commercially available, that is used to measure animal skin or core body temperatures
when attached externally or surgically implanted. Field observations of bats roosting under a bridge suggested that bats avoided
locations with iButtons. A heterodyne bat detector revealed that the dataloggers emitted ultrasound which was detectable from
a distance of up to 30 cm. We therefore recorded and quantified the acoustic properties [carrier frequency (Hz) and root mean
square sound pressure level (dB SPL)] of iButton and iBBat dataloggers. All units emitted a 32.9 kHz pure tone that was readily
picked up with a time expansion bat detector at a distance of 1 cm, and most were detected at a distance of 15 cm. The maximum
amplitude of iButton dataloggers was 46.5 dB SPL at 1.0 cm—a level within the range of auditory sensitivity for most small
mammals. Wrapping iButtons in plastic insulation severely attenuated the amplitude of ultrasound. Although there was a statistically
significant reduction in rates of warming and cooling with insulation, this effect was small and we suggest that insulation
may be a viable solution to eliminate unwanted ultrasonic noise in instances when small delays in thermal response dynamics
are not a concern. We recommend behavioural studies to assess if the electronic signals emitted by iButtons are disturbing

Infiltration of bone marrow derived cells is part of the angiogenic switch required for uncontrolled tumour growth. However, the nature of the tumour-infiltrating cells from bone marrow has not been fully elucidated. To investigate the phenotype of bone marrow derived cells within a tumour, we employed the Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) murine tumour model. We followed bone marrow derivation of tumour-infiltrating cells through transplantation of CD45.2 bone marrow cells into pre-irradiated CD45.1 mice. We found robust CD45.2 donor type chimerism in bone marrow and blood of CD45.1 recipient tumour-bearing mice. Flow cytometric analysis of LLC tumours showed, in addition to previously described pro-angiogenic CD45+VEGFR2+‘endothelial progenitor cells’ (EPC), or CD45+Tie2+‘Tie2-expressing monocytes’ (TEM), incorporation of donor type lineage marker negative (Lin−) and Lin−Sca1+ undifferentiated haematopoietic cell types. Immunohistochemical analysis confirmed the extravasal location of the primitive haematopoietic cells. Flow-cytometric sorting of bone marrow cells and subsequent analysis in haematopoietic colony-forming assays revealed that cells with a Lin−Sca1+ phenotype, which were initially negative for VEGFR2 and Tie2, gave rise to VEGFR2+ and/or Tie2+ cells. Moreover, Lin− bone marrow cells pre-labelled with the membrane dye PKH26 (a red fluorochrome) and transplanted i.v. into tumour-bearing mice were found to extravasate and incorporate into LLC tumours within 24 hrs. Thus, primitive haematopoietic precursors which are thought to be precursors of EPC and TEMs, constitute a part of the tumour microenvironment. A fragment of the prion protein, PrP(89–143, P101L), bearing a mutation implicated in familial prion disease, forms fibrils that have been shown to induce prion disease when injected intracerebrally into transgenic mice expressing full-length PrP containing the P101L mutation. In this study, we utilize amide hydrogen exchange measurements to probe the organization of the peptide in its fibrillar form. We determined the extent of hydrogen exchange first by tandem proteolysis, liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry (HXMS) and then by exchange-quenched NMR. Although single amide resolution is afforded by NMR measurements, HXMS is well suited to the study of natural prions because it does not require labeling with NMR active isotopes. Thus, natural prions obtained from infected animals can be compared with model systems such as PrP(89–143, P101L) studied here. In our study, we find two segments of sequence that display a high level of protection from exchange, residues 102–109 and 117–136. In addition, there is a region that displays exchange behavior consistent with the presence of a conformationally heterogeneous turn. We discuss our data with respect to several structural models proposed for infectious PrP aggregates and highlight HXMS as one of the few techniques well suited to studying natural prions. 相似文献
