The biodegradability of petroleum hydrocarbons such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and n-branched alkanes etc. of 2T engine oil were studied in aqueous media using bacterial strain isolated from petroleum contaminated soil of high altitude. Out of five petroleum degrading bacterial strain one of the most growing bacteria was identified as Enterobacter strain by morphological, physiological, biochemical and partial sequencing of 16S rDNA. This strain was capable of degrading 75 ± 3% of n-alkanes, 32 ± 5% PAHs, and the abiotic loss was 24 ± 6% during 10 days incubation period. 85 ± 2% of n-alkanes and 51 ± 3% PAHs were biodegraded in 20 days. The abiotic loss during this period was 15 ± 3%. In 30 days of incubation period 98% ± 1% n-alkanes and 75 ± 3% PAHs were degraded. As expected abiotic losses were smaller with increasing long chain alkanes and PAH’s concentration. An increment in oil degradation was correlated to an increase in cell number indicating that the bacterial isolate was responsible for the oil degradation. The hydrocarbon contents were measured by Shimadzu QP-2000 Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry by ULBON HR-1 column.  相似文献

A study was conducted to assess the effect of combined stresses (thermal and nutritional) on endocrine and biochemical responses in Malpura ewes. Twenty eight adult Malpura ewes (average body weight 33.56 kg) were used in the present study. The ewes were divided into four groups viz., GI (n = 7; control), GII (n = 7; thermal stress), GIII (n = 7; nutritional stress) and GIV (n = 7; combined stress). The animals were stall fed with a diet consisting of 60% roughage and 40% concentrate. GI and GII ewes were provided with ad libitum feeding while GIII and GIV ewes were provided with restricted feed (30% intake of GI ewes) to induce nutritional stress. GII and GIV ewes were kept in climatic chamber at 40°C and 55% RH for 6 h a day between 1000 hours and 1600 hours to induce thermal stress. The study was conducted for a period of two estrus cycles. The parameters studied were Hb, PCV, glucose, total protein, total cholesterol, ACP, ALP, cortisol, T4, T3, and insulin. Combined stress significantly (P < 0.05) affected all parameters studied. Furthermore, the results revealed that, compared to thermal stress, nutritional stress had a less significant effect on the parameters studied. However, when both these stresses were coupled, they had a severe impact on all the parameters studied in these ewes. It can be concluded from this study that two stressors occurring simultaneously may impact severely on the biological functions necessary to maintain homeostasis in sheep.  相似文献

The hemibiotrophic fungus Colletotrichum truncatum causes anthracnose disease on lentils and a few other grain legumes. It shows initial symptomless intracellular growth, where colonized host cells remain viable (biotrophy), and then switches to necrotrophic growth, killing the colonized host plant tissues. Here, we report a novel effector gene, CtNUDIX, from C. truncatum that is exclusively expressed during the late biotrophic phase (before the switch to necrotrophy) and elicits a hypersensitive response (HR)-like cell death in tobacco leaves transiently expressing the effector. CtNUDIX homologs, which contain a signal peptide and a Nudix hydrolase domain, may be unique to hemibiotrophic fungal and fungus-like plant pathogens. CtNUDIX lacking a signal peptide or a Nudix motif failed to induce cell death in tobacco. Expression of CtNUDIX:eGFP in tobacco suggested that the fusion protein might act on the host cell plasma membrane. Overexpression of CtNUDIX in C. truncatum and the rice blast pathogen, Magnaporthe oryzae, resulted in incompatibility with the hosts lentil and barley, respectively, by causing an HR-like response in infected host cells associated with the biotrophic invasive hyphae. These results suggest that C. truncatum and possibly M. oryzae elicit cell death to signal the transition from biotrophy to necrotrophy.  相似文献

The viscosity behavior of added sodium and potassium halides (in the concentration range 0.125-3m), in aqueous (0.4m) d-mannitol solution, over the temperature range 25–40° has been investigated. It has been found that Moulik's equation holds good for these systems beyond the Einstein region. From the relative viscosity data, the “effective”, rigid molar volume, Ve, and apparent B coefficient have been computed by employing the Breslau-Miller treatment. On the basis of the values of the apparent B coefficient of these electrolytes, the change in viscosity behavior is attributed to structure making/breaking effects in solution.  相似文献
