Rhizospheric application of nod regulators influenced the nodulation status, nodule efficiency and partitioning of assimilated CO2 in Pisum sativum-Rhizobium leguminosarum symbiosis. Depending upon the plant growth stage, naringenin and flavone enhanced nodule number (22.8–87.6%), nodule weight (19.2–35.2%) and nitrogenase activity (17.8–108.6%). Syringaldehyde had negative effect on various parameters of symbiosis. Proportion of 14C-assimilates was higher in nodules of plants from naringenin and flavone treatments as compared to the control or syringaldehyde treatments. The enhanced nodule efficiency in naringenin and flavone treatments was reflected in the increased N content (12.7–50.4%) and biomass (4.3–35.1%) of plants. 相似文献

To study the impact of neural activity on cellular physiology, one would like to combine precise control of firing patterns with highly sensitive probes of cellular physiology. Light-gated ion channels, e.g., Channelrhodopsin-2, enable precise control of firing patterns; green fluorescent protein-based reporters, e.g., the GCaMP6f Ca2+ reporter, enable highly sensitive probing of cellular physiology. However, for most actuator-reporter combinations, spectral overlap prevents straightforward combination within a single cell. Here we explore multiwavelength control of channelrhodopsins to circumvent this limitation. The “stoplight” technique described in this article uses channelrhodopsin variants that are opened by blue light and closed by orange light. Cells are illuminated with constant blue light to excite fluorescence of a green fluorescent protein-based reporter. Modulated illumination with orange light negatively regulates activation of the channelrhodopsin. We performed detailed photophysical characterization and kinetic modeling of four candidate stoplight channelrhodopsins. The variant with the highest contrast, sdChR(C138S,E154A), enabled all-optical measurements of activity-induced calcium transients in cultured rat hippocampal neurons, although cell-to-cell variation in expression levels presents a challenge for quantification. 相似文献

Seven polymorphic and four monomorphic allozyme loci were assayed from nine wild populations and one cultured population of the endemic New Zealand greenshell mussel, Perna canaliculus. Genetic variation was examined to determine the extent of intra-population subdivision and inter-population variability. Five of seven polymorphic loci exhibited significant heterozygote deficiencies compared to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Population F-statistics indicated that significant genetic heterogeneity exists among populations, indicating that there is insufficient gene flow between geographically isolated populations to create panmixia. The observed genetic heterogeneity among populations is best explained by an isolation-by-distance model of gene flow, which is modified by localized hydrographic conditions. These preliminary findings are discussed in the context of the one previous survey of population genetic variation in P. canaliculus and how this information relates to the gene flow of the greenshell mussel in New Zealand, which is often mediated by human transport from the main collection site of Kaitaia to aquaculture sites throughout the country. 相似文献

Sex compatibility of the three sector isolates ofGlomerella phyllanthii was studied. The two isolates (P1 and P2) are distinct from the parent isolate (P) in their sex reactions.
