Phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) are known to convert the insoluble forms of phosphate to soluble one and make them available for plant uptake. The present study aimed to isolate PSB from the rhizosphere of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L. cv. GPF2) and examine their effect on the growth and seed number. The isolated PSB were analyzed for phosphate solubilization, indole acetic acid and siderophore production. PSB were characterized for phenotypic and biochemical properties, BIOLOG and whole-cell fatty acid methyl ester profile and found to be closely related to Pantoea cypripedii and Enterobacter aerogenes based on 16s rRNA gene sequencing. A high increase in growth of C. arietinum was observed when innoculated with PSB in tricalcium phosphate amended soils. A higher uptake in total P (53 %) of plants was observed when inoculated with mixture of P. cypripedii and E. aerogenes along with Rhizobium ciceri as compared to respective control plants which significantly increased the seed number (98.3 %) and seed weight (46.1 %). This study demonstrated the ability of novel PSB P. cypripedii along with E. aerogenes and R. ciceri to promote chickpea growth. 相似文献

The role of desmosomal cadherin desmocollin-2 (Dsc2) in regulating barrier function in intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) is not well understood. Here, we report the consequences of silencing Dsc2 on IEC barrier function in vivo using mice with inducible intestinal–epithelial-specific Dsc2 knockdown (KD) (Dsc2ERΔIEC). While the small intestinal gross architecture was maintained, loss of epithelial Dsc2 influenced desmosomal plaque structure, which was smaller in size and had increased intermembrane space between adjacent epithelial cells. Functional analysis revealed that loss of Dsc2 increased intestinal permeability in vivo, supporting a role for Dsc2 in the regulation of intestinal epithelial barrier function. These results were corroborated in model human IECs in which Dsc2 KD resulted in decreased cell–cell adhesion and impaired barrier function. It is noteworthy that Dsc2 KD cells exhibited delayed recruitment of desmoglein-2 (Dsg2) to the plasma membrane after calcium switch-induced intercellular junction reassembly, while E-cadherin accumulation was unaffected. Mechanistically, loss of Dsc2 increased desmoplakin (DP I/II) protein expression and promoted intermediate filament interaction with DP I/II and was associated with enhanced tension on desmosomes as measured by a Dsg2-tension sensor. The aim of the present study is to assess the possible protective effects of thymol and carvacrol against cisplatin (CP)‐induced nephrotoxicity. A single dose of CP {6 mg/kg, intraperitoneally (i.p.)} injected to male rats revealed significant increases in serum urea, creatinine, and tumor necrosis factor alpha levels. It also increased kidney contents of malondialdehyde and caspase‐3 activity with significant reduction in serum albumin, kidney content of reduced glutathione as well as catalase, and superoxide dismutase activity as compared to that of the control group. In contrast, administration of thymol {20 mg/kg, orally (p.o.)} and/or carvacrol (15 mg/kg, p.o.) for 14 days before CP injection and for 7 days after CP administration restored the kidney function and examined oxidative stress parameters. In conclusion, thymol was more effective nephroprotective than carvacrol. Moreover, a combination of thymol and carvacrol had a synergistic nephroprotective effect that might be attributed to antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antiapoptotic activities. 相似文献

Background
Breast cancer survivors, particularly those treated with chemotherapy, are at significantly increased risk for long-term cognitive and neurobiologic impairments. These deficits tend to involve skills that are subserved by distributed brain networks. Additionally, neuroimaging studies have shown a diffuse pattern of brain structure changes in chemotherapy-treated breast cancer survivors that might impact large-scale brain networks.Methods
We therefore applied graph theoretical analysis to compare the gray matter structural networks of female breast cancer survivors with a history of chemotherapy treatment and healthy age and education matched female controls.Results
Results revealed reduced clustering coefficient and small-world index in the brain network of the breast cancer patients across a range of network densities. In addition, the network of the breast cancer group had less highly interactive nodes and reduced degree/centrality in the frontotemporal regions compared to controls, which may help explain the common impairments of memory and executive functioning among these patients.Conclusions
These results suggest that breast cancer and chemotherapy may decrease regional connectivity as well as global network organization and integration, reducing efficiency of the network. To our knowledge, this is the first report of altered large-scale brain networks associated with breast cancer and chemotherapy. 相似文献199.
The aim of this study was to investigate the fusogenic properties of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)ylated dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine/cholesteryl hemisuccinate (DOPE/CHEMS) liposomes. These pH-sensitive liposomes were prepared by incorporating two different PEG lipids: distearoylphosphatidylethanolamine (DSPE)-PEG???? was mixed with the liposomal lipids using the conventional method, whereas sterol-PEG???? was inserted into the outer monolayer of preformed vesicles. Both types of PEGylated liposomes were characterized and compared for their entrapment efficiency, zeta potential and size, and were tested in vitro for pH sensitivity by means of proton-induced leakage and membrane fusion activity. To mimic the routes of intracellular delivery, fusion between pH-sensitive liposomes and liposomes designed to simulate the endosomal membrane was studied. Our investigations confirmed that DOPE/CHEMS liposomes were capable of rapidly releasing calcein and of fusing upon acidification. However, after incorporation of DSPE-PEG???? or sterol-PEG???? into the membrane, pH sensitivity was significantly reduced; as the mol ratio of PEG-lipid was increased, the ability to fuse was decreased. Comparison between two different PEGylated pH-sensitive liposomes showed that only vesicles containing 0.6 mol% sterol-PEG???? in the outer monolayer were still capable of fusing with the endosome-like liposomes and showing leakage of calcein at pH 5.5. 相似文献

Quaternary climatic oscillations caused changes in sea level that altered the size, number and degree of isolation of islands, particularly in land‐bridge archipelagoes. Elucidating the demographic effects of these oscillations increases our understanding of the role of climate change in shaping evolutionary processes in archipelagoes. The Puerto Rican Bank (PRB) (Puerto Rico and the Eastern Islands, which comprise Vieques, Culebra, the Virgin Islands and associated islets) in the eastern Caribbean Sea periodically coalesced during glaciations and fragmented during interglacial periods of the quaternary. To explore population‐level consequences of sea level changes, we studied the phylogeography of the frog Eleutherodactylus antillensis across the archipelago. We tested hypotheses encompassing vicariance and dispersal narratives by sequencing mtDNA (c. 552 bp) of 285 individuals from 58 localities, and four nuDNA introns (totalling c. 1633 bp) from 173 of these individuals. We found low support for a hypothesis of divergence of the Eastern Islands populations prior to the start of the penultimate interglacial c. 250 kya, and higher support for a hypothesis of colonization of the Eastern Islands from sources in eastern Puerto Rico during the penultimate and last glacial period, when a land bridge united the PRB. The Río Grande de Loíza Basin in eastern Puerto Rico delineates a phylogeographic break. Haplotypes shared between the PRB and St. Croix (an island c. 105 km south‐east of this archipelago) likely represent human‐mediated introductions. Our findings illustrate how varying degrees of connectivity and isolation influence the evolution of tropical island organisms. 相似文献
