The review sums up the long experience of the authors and other researchers in studying the genetic system of garden pea (Pisum sativum L.), which controls the development of nitrogen-fixing symbiosis and arbuscular mycorrhiza. A justified phenotypic classification of pea mutants is presented. Progress in identifying and cloning symbiotic genes is adequately reflected. The feasibility of using double inoculation as a means of increasing the plant productivity is demonstrated, in which the potential of a tripartite symbiotic system (pea plants-root nodule bacteria-arbuscular mycorrhiza) is mobilized. 相似文献

Footprinting data for 33 open promoter complexes with Escherichia coli RNA polymerase, as well as 17 ternary complexes with different regulators, have been compiled using a computer program FUTPR. The typical and individual properties of their structural organization are analyzed. Promoters are subgrouped according to the extent of the polymerase contact area. A set of alternative sequence elements that could be responsible for RNA polymerase attachment in different promoter groups is suggested on the basis of their sequence homology near the hyperreactive sites. The model of alternative pathways used for promoter activation is discussed. 相似文献

Community structure of zoohydrobionts in the lake affected by chemical weapon destruction was studied for the first time. Low pH favored species specific to acidic water bodies as well as bidominant zooplankton community. The long-term effects of chemical pollution determined the stage of community succession, namely, the absence of the key predator (fishes), abundance of detritus consumers in the zoobenthic community (dipteran larvae), diversity of amphibiotic insects, and low species diversity in the zooplankton community with the prevalence of cladocerans and rotifers. Unbalanced composition of higher trophic levels results in an unstable functioning of the lake and accumulation of significant amounts of detritus, which is utilized by the abundant microzoobenthic component of the ecosystem. 相似文献

The transient Ca2+ and Ca2+-dependent Cl? currents in the plasma membrane of voltage-clamped cells of the freshwater alga Chara corallina were studied. We used our own earlier proposed method, which utilized a rapid (~10 ms) injection of Ca2+ ions into the cell during the deactivation period of calcium channels after their activation with a positive voltage pulse (injection with a “tail” Ca2+ current). This procedure makes it possible to determine the amplitude of the Ca2+ component in the transient current as well as the amplitude and kinetics of the Cl? component, dependent on the Ca2+ submembrane concentration. The calculated results, which used a cell model that takes the diffusion of Ca2+, the Ca2+-buffering properties of the cytoplasm, and the nonlinear dependence of i Cl on [Ca2+]cyt, as well as the presence of chloroplasts into account, were in good agreement with the actual behavior of transient current in the experiments. It was demonstrated that the duration of the slow stage of [Ca2+]cyt relaxation to the resting level (~10?7 M) (which is related to the function of Ca2+-ATPases), was ~102 s. We have found that, in preparations of isolated CNS of the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis, both serotonin (5HT) and dopamine (DA), as well as their respective precursors, 5HTP and DOPA, are effective in producing fictive intense (muscular) locomotion. 2. Phase-coupled to each of the above pedal rhythms are numerous identifiable pedal neurons including the respiratory interneuron RPeD1, thus suggesting interaction between networks responsible for locomotion and air breathing. 3. The novel DA/DOPA-dependent motor rhythm resembles the 5HT/5HTP-dependent one in terms of activity of identifiable pedal neurons, being however considerably slower than the latter. 4.
