In this study, we present a complete structural analysis ofAllomyrina dichotoma beetle's hind wings by investigating their static and dynamic characteristics. The wing was subjected to the static loading to determine its overall flexural stiffness. Dy- namic characteristics such as natural frequency, mode shape, and damping ratio of vibration modes in the operating frequency range were determined using a Bruel & Kjaer fast Fourier transform analyzer along with a laser sensor. The static and dynamic characteristics of natural Allomyrina dichotoma beetle's hind wings were compared to those of a fabricated artificial wing. The results indicate that natural frequencies of the natural wing were significantly correlated to the wing surface area density that was defined as the wing mass divided by the hind wing surface area. Moreover, the bending behaviors of the natural wing and artificial wing were similar to that of a cantilever beam. Furthermore, the flexural stiffness of the artificial wing was a little higher than that of the natural one whereas the natural frequency of the natural wing was close to that of the artificial wing. These results provide important information for the biomimetic design of insect-scale artificial wings, with which highly ma- neuverable and efficient micro air vehicles can be designed.  相似文献

Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) negatively regulate long bone development by inhibiting the proliferation of chondrocytes that accumulate in the G1 phase of the cycle following FGF treatment. Here we report that FGF also causes a striking but transient delay in mitotic entry in RCS chondrocytes by inactivating the cyclin B1-associated CDK1(CDC2) kinase. As a consequence of this inactivation, cells accumulate in the G2 phase of the cycle for the first 4–6 hours of the treatment. Cyclin B1/CDK1 activity is then restored and cells reach a G1 arrest.The reduced cyclin B1/CDK1 activity was accompanied by increased CDK1 inhibitory phosphorylation, likely caused by increased activity and expression of the Myt1 kinase. FGF1 also caused dephosphorylation of the CDC25C phosphatase. That, however, appears due the inactivation of cyclin B1/CDK1 complex in the CDK1 feedback loop and not the activation of specific phosphatases. The inactivation of the cyclin B1/CDK1 complex is a direct effect of FGF signaling and not a consequence of the G2 arrest as can be observed also in cells blocked at mitosis by Nocodazole. The Chk1 and ATM/ATR kinase are known to play essential roles in the G2 checkpoint induced by DNA damage/genotoxic stress, but inhibition of Chk1 or ATM/ATR not only did not prevent, but rather potentiated the FGF-induced G2 arrest.Additionally, our results indicate that the transient G2 arrest is induced by FGF in RCS cell through mechanisms that are independent of the G1 arrest, and that the G2 block is not strictly required for the sustained G1 arrest but may provide a pausing mechanism that allows the FGF response to be fully established.Key words: fibroblast growth factor, chondrocyte, G2/M arrest, Myt1, cyclin B1, CDK1  相似文献

We present a new version of a compact insect-mimicking flapping-wing system driven by a small motor, and suggest two testing approaches to measure the thrust or lift generated by a flapping-wing system. Flapping performance tests show the proposed flapping-wing system, which is powered by an onboard battery (lithium, 3.7 V, 180 mAh), could flap at flapping frequency of 25 Hz, and produce an average thrust or lift of about 3 g. In a wired-flight test under constrained conditions, the flapping-wing system could fly at an average forward velocity of 700 mm·s?1. For measuring the average thrust or lift produced by the flapping-wing system, we propose two testing approaches of wired-flight test and swing test with the aid of a high-speed camera and they are compared with a load cell measurement. The average thrust or lift values from the two proposed approaches agree well with the average thrust or lift values measured by a load cell.  相似文献

Gas transport in fruit tissue is governed by both diffusion and permeation. The latter phenomenon is caused by overall pressure gradients which may develop due to the large difference in O(2) and CO(2) diffusivity during controlled atmosphere storage of the fruit. A measurement set-up for tissue permeation based on unsteady-state gas exchange was developed. The gas permeability of pear tissue was determined based on an analytical gas transport model. The overall gas transport in pear tissue samples was validated using a finite element model describing simultaneous O(2), CO(2), and N(2) gas transport, taking into account O(2) consumption and CO(2) production due to respiration. The results showed that the model described the experimentally determined permeability of N(2) very well. The average experimentally determined values for permeation of skin, cortex samples, and the vascular bundle samples were (2.17+/-1.71)x10(-19) m(2), (2.35+/-1.96)x10(-19) m(2), and (4.51+/-3.12)x10(-17) m(2), respectively. The permeation-diffusion-reaction model can be applied to study gas transport in intact pears in relation to product quality.  相似文献

The Early Cretaceous Fort Terrett Formation of Mason County, central Texas, is a succession of subtidal to peritidal mud-dominated facies with minor intervals of bioclastic packstone–grainstone, rudist floatstone, and interbedded chert nodules. The strata conformably overlie the Hensel Formation, which was deposited unconformably on Precambrian basement. The Hensel Formation also contains a significant percentage of dolomite, precipitated within a fine-grained clayey matrix. The Hensel and Fort Terrett Formations were deposited during a transgressive episode, which provided the conditions for the extensive shallow-water Comanche carbonate platform. Siliciclastic and carbonate sediments were deposited along the coastal margin in subtidal, intertidal to supratidal areas. Previous dolomitization models have suggested that high permeability layers are required for dolomitizing brines to flow through a carbonate succession. Although, interparticle porosity in muddy tidal-flat successions can be significant, it has a limited flow capacity. However, interconnected fenestral porosity can allow sufficient fluid flow to move dolomitizing fluids more efficiently through the succession. Thus, it is hypothesized that interconnected fenestral porosity could have had a significant impact on permeability within this muddy succession and provided the pathways and conduits for Mg-rich brines. Four types of dolomite are recognized in the Fort Terrett succession. Three of these dolomite types formed largely by replacement and they occur throughout the succession. Features such as crystal size, crystal face geometry and zonation reflect the progressive development and recrystallization of the dolomite types. Only type 4 dolomite formed as a cement in void spaces during a late diagenetic stage. The direction of the dolomitizing fluid movement is difficult to determine, but it was likely downward in this case, controlled by a density-head driving-mechanism generated by dense hypersaline fluids from an evaporating lagoon.  相似文献

It was characterized and used for the development of an improved expression system in strain AMB-1 through the construction of a shuttle vector, pUMG.
