The aim of this study was to evaluate the probiotic potential of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains isolated from Horreh. Some probiotic properties, e.g., resistance to acid, bile tolerance, antibacterial activity, and antibiotic susceptibility, were investigated. A total of 140 Gram-positive and catalase-negative isolates from Horreh were subjected to identification and grouping by cultural methods and the 16S rRNA sequencing. The new isolates were identified to be Lactobacillus (fermentum, plantarum, and brevis) Weissella cibaria, Enterococcus (faecium and faecalis), Leuconostoc (citreum and mesenteroides subsp. mesenteroides) and Pediococcus pentosaceus. Probiotic potential study of LAB isolates showed that Lb. plantarum and Leu. mesenteroides subsp. mesenteroides isolates were able to grow at pH 2.5 and 3.5. Lactobacillus plantarum (isolate A44) showed the highest cell hydrophobicity (84.5%). According to antibacterial activity tests, Listeria innocua and Staphylococcus aureus were the most sensitive indicators against the selected LAB strains, while Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus were the most resistant. In addition, all the isolated LAB species were resistant to vancomycin. The results of the present study suggested that the Lactobacillus fermentum and plantarum isolated from Horreh, characterized in this study, have potential use for industrial purposes as probiotics. 相似文献

This research is focused on a poorly studied Jurassic sequence in the eastern part of Alborz and Western Koppeh Dagh basins. The foraminifera are reported from Callovian (Middle Jurassic) to Tithonian (Upper Jurassic) sediments of the Farsian and Chaman Bid formations. The benthic foraminiferal associations belong to the families Ammodiscidae, Epistominidae, Hauerinidae, Hormosinidae, Ichthyolariidae, Lagenidae, Nodosariidae, Nubeculariidae, Ophthalmidiidae, Polymorphinidae, Rhabdamminidae, Saccamminidae, Spirillinidae, Spirocyclinidae, Textulariidae, Trocholinidae, and Vaginulinidae. In the studied area, the foraminifera are dominated by the families Nodosariidae, Vaginulinidae and Epistominidae. Palaeoecological analysis of the foraminiferal assemblages from the Farsian Formation indicates that these sediments were deposited on the inner to mid shelf environment, with normal salinity (euhaline), and relatively well oxygenated waters, with eutrophic conditions in the Goznawwi area and oligotrophic conditions in the Chaman Bid area. The foraminiferal assemblages in this study are the first record from Jurassic sediments of the eastern part of the Alborz and Koppeh Dagh basins in northern Iran. 相似文献

The bacterium Actinoplanes sp. ATCC 53771 is known to perform drug metabolism of several xenobiotics similarly to humans. We identified a cytochrome
P450 enzyme from this strain, CYP107E4, and expressed it in Escherichia coli using the pET101 vector. The purified enzyme showed the characteristic reduced-CO difference spectra with a peak at 450 nm,
indicating the protein is produced in the active form with proper heme incorporation. The CYP107E4 enzyme was found to bind
the drug diclofenac. Using redox enzymes from spinach, the reconstituted system is able to produce hydroxylated metabolites
of diclofenac. Production of the human 4′-hydroxydiclofenac metabolite by CYP107E4 was confirmed, and a second hydroxylated

In vitro studies were carried out on the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella larvae using an insect entomopathogenic nematode isolate, Steinernema carpocapsae obtained from the Koppert company, the Netherlands. Larvae of P. xylostella were collected from cabbage farms around Mashhad city of Iran. During the study, the responses of larvae at 25?°C for three periods of 24, 48 and 72?h with different concentrations of 0, 5, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160 and 320 third instar larvae of nematode (infective stage?=?IJs) per insect into 10?cm Petri dishes containing filter paper soaked with 1?ml of nematodes suspension were compared. Maximum mortality caused by S. carpocapsae nematode was 88% at 24?h, and it was 100% at 48 and 72 h. With increasing nematode population level and exposure time (ET in hour), mortality of P. xylostella larvae was increased. Based on probit analysis, LC50 values of S. carpocapsae nematode in three test periods were 45.61, 12.02 and 40.80 IJs per insect, respectively. Initial ANOVA was performed for S. carpocapsae nematode. The effect of both nematode population levels (IJ) and ET on third instar larvae of the diamondback moth, P. xylostella and interaction between IJ and ET were significant. In general, it is recommended to apply this nematode in suitable condition for controlling diamondback moth. 相似文献

The use of free, immobilized and reused immobilized cells of the microalga Nostoc muscorum was studied for bioconversion of androst-4-en-3,17-dione (AD) to testosterone in hexadecane. Among polymers such as agar, agarose, κ-carrageenan, polyacrylamide, polyvinyl alcohol, and sodium alginate that were examined for cell entrapment, sodium alginate with a concentration of 2% (w/v) proved to be the proper matrix for N. muscorum cells immobilization. The bioconversion characteristics of immobilized whole algal cells at ranges of temperatures, substrate concentrations, and shaking speeds were studied followed by a comparison with those of free cells. The conditions were 30 °C, 0.5 g/L, and 100 rpm, respectively. The immobilized N. muscorum showed higher yield (72 ± 2.3%) than the free form (24 ± 1.3%) at the mentioned conditions. The bioconversion yield did not decrease during reuse of immobilized cells and remained high even after 5 batches of bioreactions while Na-alginate 3% was used; however, reuse of alginate 2% beads did not give a satisfactory result. 相似文献

This paper reports studies on the effects of re-vitrification by the CPS (Closed Pulled Straw) method on the development of 4-cell stage mouse embryos. The procedure involved culturing 2-cell mouse embryos in G-1 medium until the 4-cell stage followed by the division of the normal 4-cell stage embryos into a control group (non-vitrified) and two experimental subgroups (vitrified and re-vitrified). Embryos in the vitrified subgroup were cryopreserved by the CPS vitrification method. In the second experimental subgroup (re-vitrified), embryos that were already vitrified were warmed and cryopreserved again by the same method. There was no significant reduction in the rate of blastocyst formation after vitrification and re-vitrification. However, re-vitrification reduced the total cell number, ICM (inner cell mass) percent and blastocyst diameter (P<0.05). These results showed that vitrification and re-vitrification by the CPS method did not negatively affect the development of vitrified-warmed 4-cell mouse embryos, whereas re-vitrification significantly reduced both the cell number and diameter of blastocysts. 相似文献

The incidence of curly top disease on cultivated plants and weeds was investigated in Kerman Province (southeastern Iran) from October 2003 to November 2004. A total of 1186 samples were collected in fields of sugar beet and other crops as well as within commercial plastic houses. Curtovirus infection of four field crops, three vegetables and 11 weeds was verified by indirect enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using a polyclonal antibody. An undescribed curtovirus, tentatively designated Iranian beet curly top virus (IBCTV), was isolated from three symptomatic beet samples collected randomly in widely separated regions of south‐eastern, southern and central Iran and used for molecular studies. A 672 bp segment of the coat protein (CP) gene of each isolate was amplified by PCR and sequenced. The results showed that the three isolates shared 98.5–98.7% nucleotide homology with each other but only 72.1–76.5% with other members of the genus Curtovirus. IBCTV was also detected by PCR using specific primers in other samples of sugar beet, tomato, spinach, turnip and several weed species collected in different parts of Iran. The present study was carried out in Indo-European speaking tribal population groups of southern Gujarat (India) to elucidate the allelic and haplotypic content of β-globin system in individuals with HbAA genotypes. 6 neutral restriction sites of the β-globin system were analysed and various statistical parameters were estimated to draw meaningful interpretations. All the 6 sites were found to be polymorphic and most were in Hardy–Weinberg Equilibrium in the studied group. Haplotypes were constructed using two different combinations of the 6 restriction sites analysed. Analysis of the 5 sites revealed a set of three predominant haplotypes, ‘+−−−−’, ‘−++−+’ and ‘−+−++’; and haplotypes ‘+−−’, ‘++−’ and ‘+++’ were found to be the most frequent when the 3 sites were used to construct the haplotypes. Haplotypic heterozygosity levels (> 83%) observed in the present study group were comparable to those observed in African and Afro-American populations and greater than other world populations. All the ancestral haplotypes, +−−−−−, −++−+, −+−++ and −−−−+ were found in the study group. The distribution pattern of various haplotypes was consistent with the global pattern. The paucity of comparable data from other Indian populations restricted one from making interpretations about the study group's relationships with other Indian populations but the results were indicative of older population histories or experience of gene flow by the study group and their affinities with populations of southern India. 相似文献
