Antixenosis in three wheat varieties (Timmo, Moghan 2 and Ommid) toRhopalosiphum padi (L.) was measured by pairing plants of any two varieties with one plant of each pair treated with a soil drench of the systemic insecticide pirimicarb. Aphids were then allowed access to equivalent leaf areas from the two plants in a leaf cage. The results were compared with similar choice experiments without insecticide. By either technique, the two Iranian varieties (Moghan 2 and Ommid) showed antixenosis in comparison with Timmo. The statistical analysis of the data, using a heterogeneity 2 test, is described.
Zusammenfassung Die Antixenose gegenüberRhopalosiphum padi (L.) in den drei Weizensorten Timmo, Moghan 2 und Ommid, von denen die zwei letzteren Sorten aus dem Iran stammen, wurde unter Verwendung des systemischen Insektizids Pirimicarb gemessen. Jeweils zwei Pflanzen aus verschiedenen Sorten wurden als Paar verwendet (in allen Kombinationen der drei Sorten), pro Paar ein Topf mit Pirimicarb gegossen, und zwanzig Blattlaüse über Blattflächen von beiden Sorten gekäfigt. Ähnliche Versuche wurden auch ohne Insektizid ausgeführt. Beide Methoden zeigten deutliche Antixenose von Moghan 2 und Ommid in Vergleich mit Timmo. Die Insektizidmethode zeigte auch eine Bevorzugung von Moghan 2 gegenüber Ommid, ein Resultat, das mit der schon bekannten relativen Antibiose dieser zwei Sorten übereinstimmte, während sich ohne Insektizid kein solcher Unterschied erwies. Die statistische Analyse solcher Versuche mit einem Insektizid, die eine Modifikation der Berechnung des erwarteten Werts mit dem 2 Test enthält, ist beschrieben.相似文献

Regulation of CSF HCO3-in respiratory acidosis was studied in light of the "dual contribution theory," which proposed that there were two sources for the CSF HCO3-increase: 1) HCO3-by diffusion from plasma and 2) HCO3-generated in the CNS and catalyzed by the local carbonic anhydrase (J. Appl. Physiol. 38: 504-512, 1975). In anesthetized dogs with an increase in Paco2 of 30 mmHg for 4 h the plasma HCO3 increased 2 meq/1 and CSF 6 meq/1. In combined respiratory and metabolic acidosis, plasma HCO3-did not increase but CSF HCO3-increased 6 meq/1. In combined acidosis and intraventricular injections of acetazolamide no increase in plasma or CSF HCO3-occurred. In combined respiratory acidosis and metabolic alkalosis and intraventricular acetazolamide, plasma HCO3-increased 15 meq/1 but CSF HCO3-increased 6 meq/1. Brain and CSF ammonia increased linearly and selectively with the increase in the relative contribution of CNS HCO3-increase. Therefore regulation of CSF HCO3-in respiratory acidosis depends on both components of the dual contribution theory, where each component can provide the total CSF HCO3-increase under appropriate experimental conditions. The control mechanism may be sensitive to changes in [H+] on the brain side of the blood-brain barrier. 相似文献

Bacterial community succession in a high‐altitude subarctic glacier foreland is a three‐stage process 下载免费PDF全文
Alpine glaciers are retreating rapidly, exposing foreland minerals, which develop into soils. Bacterial communities in glacier forelands exhibit high rates of turnover and undergo dramatic shifts in composition within the first 50 years after deglaciation, followed by relative stabilization and convergence. This period of microbial development occurs simultaneously with plant colonization in most systems; thus, it remains unclear whether the changes in the bacterial communities occur primarily as the result of edaphic, climatic or biotic factors. We examined bacterial community structure along two replicate chronosequences within the glacial foreland of Duke River Glacier, Yukon, Canada. This foreland is estimated to include >200 years of bare soils before an appreciable grassline, likely due to the high latitude and altitude of the glacier. This enabled us to examine bacterial community development prior to plant colonization over a longer period than previous studies. We observed three successional groups in the chronosequence: (i) an ‘early’ group in soils of less than approximately 50 years since deglaciation; (ii) an ‘intermediate’ group within bare soils, after the early period but before the grassline, containing communities with a relatively high degree of variability in composition; and (iii) a ‘grassline’ group in soils collected after plant colonization with higher diversity but lower age‐group variability in community composition. These findings suggest rapid replacement and addition of species better adapted to glacier foreland conditions followed by slower community shifts over the next 150 years and, finally, indications of a possible response to plant colonization. 相似文献

Extracellular domains of G-protein-coupled receptors act as initial molecular selectivity filters for subtype specific ligands and drugs. Chimeras of the human endothelin-B receptor containing structural units from the extracellular domains of the endothelin-A receptor were analyzed after their co-translational insertion into preformed nanodiscs. A short β-strand and a linker region in the second extracellular loop as well as parts of the extracellular N-terminal domain were identified as molecular discrimination sites for the endothelin-B receptor-selective agonists IRL1620, sarafotoxin 6c, 4Ala-ET-1 and ET-3, but not for the non-selective agonist ET-1 recognized by both endothelin receptors. A proposed second disulfide bridge in the endothelin-B receptor tethering the N-terminal domain with the third extracellular loop was not essential for ET-1 recognition and binding, but increased the receptor thermostability. We further demonstrate an experimental approach with cell-free synthesized engineered agonists to analyze the differential discrimination of peptide ligand topologies by the two endothelin receptors. The study is based on the engineering and cell-free insertion of G-protein-coupled receptors into defined membranes and may become interesting also for other targets as an alternative platform to reveal molecular details of ligand selectivity and ligand binding mechanisms. 相似文献

To identify polymorphism in interferon gamma (IFN-\(\upgamma \)) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) genes, blood samples were collected from 380 breeder hens of the Mazandaran native fowls breeding station. DNA extraction was performed through a modified salting-out method and fragments of 670 and 659 bp from the promoter regions of IFN-\(\upgamma \) and IL-2 genes were amplified by using specific primers, respectively. Following genotyping in the IFN-\(\upgamma \) gene using the Tsp509I restriction enzyme, two alleles of A and G with the frequencies of 0.55 and 0.45 and three genotypes of AA, AG and GG were observed with the frequencies of 0.32, 0.46 and 0.22, respectively. For the IL-2 gene, two alleles of A and G were also detected using the MnlI restriction enzyme with the frequencies of 0.58 and 0.42 and three genotypes of AA, AG and GG with the frequencies of 0.33, 0.50 and 0.17, respectively. Statistical analysis revealed significant associations between IL-2 gene single-nucleotide polymorphism and productive traits including the average egg weight (EW) at 345–375 days of age, egg number (EN) at 345–375 days of age and body weight (BW) at 8 weeks of age traits (\(P{<}0.05\)). Further, in a mean comparison analysis, there were also significant differences between different genotypes of the IL-2 gene in average EW at 28 and 30 weeks of age, in which AG genotypes showed higher performance. Additionally, for the IFN-\(\upgamma \) gene, a significant difference was found between the genotypes in average EW at 28 weeks of age trait. Therefore, it can be concluded that the above-mentioned polymorphisms could be considered as the pivotal genetic makers to improve Mazandaran native fowl breeding programmes to achieve the optimum performance in productive traits more efficiently. 相似文献
