The number of B chromosomes in the Chiangmai strain of Drosophila nasuta albomicana varies from one to eight. They are C-band and Ag-As positive, but G-band negative. The implications of these findings are discussed.  相似文献

Reciprocal crosses were made between an Indian strain of D. n. nasuta (2n=8) and the Thailand strain of D. n. albomicana (2n=6). Hybrids were fertile. They were inbred for over four years. Later, the karyotypes of the hybrid populations were analysed. In the hybrid progeny of the cross between D. n. nasuta females and D. n. albomicana males, there were six types of kaotypes. Of these, only two types had a diploid content of chromosomes. They were males with 2n=7 and females with 2n= 8 , while others were aneuploids. This hybrid population is designated as Cytorace III. On the other hand, hybrid progeny of the reciprocal cross had 2n-8 in both males and females; and there was no karyotypic variation. This hybrid population is named as Cytorace IV. The composition of these new karyotypes of Cytorace III and IV have been presented and compared with those of Cytorace I and II reported by Ramachandra and Ranganath (1986).  相似文献

This study examines the immediate effect of ingestion of oral carbohydrate and fat on lipoprotein lipase (LPL) activity post-heparin in six lean and six obese age-matched women. Subjects were given, on two separate occasions, 340 kcal carbohydrate or an equicaloric amount of fat, both in 300 ml of water. Post-heparin LPL activity (10,000 U) was measured on each occasion 120 minutes after ingestion of the meal. Following oral carbohydrate postprandial plasma insulin levels were significantly higher in obese subjects than in lean (p < 0.01). Impaired glucose tolerance was seen in the obese group. GIP secretion was similar in lean and obese subjects both during oral fat and carbohydrate ingestion. GLP-1 secretion post-carbohydrate was lower in obese subjects. Total LPL activity unadjusted for body weight was similar in the two groups after carbohydrate administration but was significantly lower when adjusted per kg body weight. Total LPL activity was lower in the lean group at 130 minutes after fat administration (p < 0.02). Fasting serum triglycerides were higher in the obese group and were inversely related to the post-carbohydrate LPL activity (r = - 0.65, p < 0.02). Intraluminal lipoprotein lipase activity is not increased in established obesity. Fat and carbohydrate nutrients may affect LPL activity differently in lean and obese subjects.  相似文献

Residue Ser151 of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) is known to be phosphorylated by p21-activated kinase 3 (PAK3). It has been found that PAK3-mediated phosphorylation of cTnI induces an increase in the sensitivity of myofilament to Ca2+, but the detailed mechanism is unknown. We investigated how the structural and kinetic effects mediated by pseudo-phosphorylation of cTnI (S151E) modulates Ca2+-induced activation of cardiac thin filaments. Using steady-state, time-resolved Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) and stopped-flow kinetic measurements, we monitored Ca2+-induced changes in cTnI-cTnC interactions. Measurements were done using reconstituted thin filaments, which contained the pseudo-phosphorylated cTnI(S151E). We hypothesized that the thin filament regulation is modulated by altered cTnC-cTnI interactions due to charge modification caused by the phosphorylation of Ser151 in cTnI. Our results showed that the pseudo-phosphorylation of cTnI (S151E) sensitizes structural changes to Ca2+ by shortening the intersite distances between cTnC and cTnI. Furthermore, kinetic rates of Ca2+ dissociation-induced structural change in the regulatory region of cTnI were reduced significantly by cTnI (S151E). The aforementioned effects of pseudo-phosphorylation of cTnI were similar to those of strong crossbridges on structural changes in cTnI. Our results provide novel information on how cardiac thin filament regulation is modulated by PAK3 phosphorylation of cTnI.  相似文献

Human and nonhuman primates have a remarkable ability to recall, maintain and manipulate visual images in the absence of external sensory stimulation. Evidence from lesion, single-unit neurophysiological and neuroimaging studies shows that these visual working memory processes are consistently associated with sustained activity in object-selective inferior temporal neurons. Furthermore, results from these studies suggest that mnemonic activity in the inferior temporal cortex is, in turn, supported by top-down inputs from multimodal regions in prefrontal and medial temporal cortex, and under some circumstances, from the hippocampus.  相似文献

Four decades of neuroscientific research has begun to delineate the neural mechanisms by which the brain detects and responds to novelty. Coconut mite (Aceria guerreronis 'Keifer') has become a major threat to Indian coconut (Co?cos nucifera L.) cultivators and the processing industry. Chemical and biological control measures have proved to be costly, ineffective, and ecologically undesirable. Planting mite-resistant coconut cultivars is the most effective method of preventing yield loss and should form a major component of any integrated pest management stratagem. Coconut genotypes, and mite-resistant and -susceptible accessions were collected from different parts of South India. Thirty-two simple sequence repeat (SSR) and 7 RAPD primers were used for molecular analyses. In single-marker analysis, 9 SSR and 4 RAPD markers associated with mite resistance were identified. In stepwise multiple regression analysis of SSRs, a combination of 6 markers showed 100% association with mite infestation. Stepwise multiple regression analysis for RAPD data revealed that a combination of 3 markers accounted for 83.86% of mite resistance in the selected materials. Combined stepwise multiple regression analysis of RAPD and SSR data showed that a combination of 5 markers explained 100% of the association with mite resistance in coconut. Markers associated with mite resistance are important in coconut breeding programs and will facilitate the selection of mite-resistant plants at an early stage as well as mother plants for breeding programs.  相似文献

Supernumerary marker chromosomes (SMC) are heterogeneous group of chromosomes which are reported in variable phenotypes. Approximately 70% originate from acrocentric chromosomes. Here we report a couple with recurrent miscarriages and a SMC originating from an acrocentric chromosome. The cytogenetic analysis of the husband revealed a karyotype of 47,XY+marker whereas the wife had a normal karyotype. Analysis of SMC with C-banding showed the presence of a big centromere in the center and silver staining showed prominent satellites on both sides of the marker. Apparently, microarray analysis revealed a 2.1 Mb duplication of 15q11.2 region but molecular cytogenetic analysis by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) with whole chromosome paint (WCP) 15 showed that the SMC is not of chromosome 15 origin. Subsequently, FISH with centromere 22 identified the SMC to originate from chromosome 22 which was also confirmed by WCP 22. Additional dual FISH with centromere 22 and Acro-p-arm probes confirmed the centromere 22 and satellites on the SMC. Further fine mapping of the marker with Bacterial Artificial Chromosome (BAC) clones; two on chromosome 22 and four on chromosome 15 determined the marker to possess only centromere 22 sequences and that the duplication 15 exists directly on chromosome 15. In our study, we had identified and characterized a SMC showing inversion duplication 22(p11.1) combined with a direct tandem duplication of 15q11.2. The possible genotype–phenotype in relation with the two rearrangements is discussed.  相似文献
