The dichloromethane extract of the aerial parts of Artabotrys hexapetalus afforded three beta-methoxy-gamma-methylene-alpha,beta-unsaturated-gamma-butyrolactones, which are proposed to be derived from a C(18) unsaturated fatty acid by a biosynthetic route similar to that proposed for the Annonaceous acetogenins. The structure of the unique beta-methoxy-gamma-methylene-substituted, alpha,beta-unsaturated-gamma-butyrolactone ring of artapetalins A-C (1-3) was determined by 2D-NMR spectroscopic analyses. Two unusual simple butyrolactones, (+)-tulipalin B and (2R,3R)- 3-hydroxy-2-methylbutyrolactone were also isolated from this species. 相似文献

Four new prenylated flavanones, dorsmanins 1, J and epi-dorsmanins F, G, identified, respectively, as 6,7-(2,2-dimethylpyrano)-8-prenyl-5,3',4'-trihydroxyflavanone, 6,7-(2,2-dimethyldihydropyrano)-8-prenyl-5,3',4'-trihydroxflavanone, and 2'-epimers of dorsmanins F and G were isolated from the aerial parts of Dorstenia mannii together with 13 known flavonoids: 4-hydroxylonchocarpin, 4-methoxylonchocarpin, 6-prenylchrysoeriol, 6,8-diprenyleriodictyol, gancaonin P and dorsmanins A-H. The structures of these secondary metabolites were determined by spectroscopic means and by comparison with published data and with authentic specimens for some of the known compounds. 相似文献

The aim of this research is to investigate the patterns of vascular plant species richness,diversity,and distribution along an elevation gradient in the Abune Yosef mountain range,Ethiopia.Preferential systematic sampling was employed to collect vegetation and environmental data along the elevation gradient.We found that plant species richness declines monotonically from low to high elevations.Specifically,vascular plant species richness and diversity were lower in the Afroalpine grassland(high elevation)than in the Dry evergreen Afromontane forest and Ericaceous forest(low elevations).In contrast,endemic vascular plant richness was significantly higher in the Afroalpine grassland than in the Dry evergreen Afromontane forest and Ericaceous forest.Elevation showed a significant impact on the richness,diversity,and endemism of vascular plants.According to Sorensen's coefficient,the similarity between Dry evergreen Afromontane forest and Ericaceous forest vegetation types is higher(32%)than the similarity between Ericaceous forest and Afroalpine grassland(18%).Only 5%similarity was recorded between the Dry evergreen Afromontane forest and Afroalpine grassland.Growth forms showed different elevationai richness patterns.Trees and liana increased monotonically up to 3300 m.Shrub and herb richness patterns followed a hump-shaped and inverted hump-shaped pattern along the elevation gradient.The elevation patterns of vascular plant species richness,diversity,and growth form in the present study may be attributed to differences in management intensity,spatial heterogeneity,microclimatic variations,and anthropogenic disturbances. 相似文献

Background
The SAFE strategy aims to reduce transmission of Chlamydia trachomatis through antibiotics, improved hygiene, and sanitation. We integrated assessment of intestinal parasites into large-scale trachoma impact surveys to determine whether documented environmental improvements promoted by a trachoma program had collateral impact on intestinal parasites.Methodology
We surveyed 99 communities for both trachoma and intestinal parasites (soil-transmitted helminths, Schistosoma mansoni, and intestinal protozoa) in South Gondar, Ethiopia. One child aged 2–15 years per household was randomly selected to provide a stool sample of which about 1 g was fixed in sodium acetate-acetic acid-formalin, concentrated with ether, and examined under a microscope by experienced laboratory technicians.Principal Findings
A total of 2,338 stool specimens were provided, processed, and linked to survey data from 2,657 randomly selected children (88% response). The zonal-level prevalence of Ascaris lumbricoides, hookworm, and Trichuris trichiura was 9.9% (95% confidence interval (CI) 7.2–12.7%), 9.7% (5.9–13.4%), and 2.6% (1.6–3.7%), respectively. The prevalence of S. mansoni was 2.9% (95% CI 0.2–5.5%) but infection was highly focal (range by community from 0–52.4%). The prevalence of any of these helminth infections was 24.2% (95% CI 17.6–30.9%) compared to 48.5% as found in a previous study in 1995 using the Kato-Katz technique. The pathogenic intestinal protozoa Giardia intestinalis and Entamoeba histolytica/E. dispar were found in 23.0% (95% CI 20.3–25.6%) and 11.1% (95% CI 8.9–13.2%) of the surveyed children, respectively. We found statistically significant increases in household latrine ownership, use of an improved water source, access to water, and face washing behavior over the past 7 years.Conclusions
Improvements in hygiene and sanitation promoted both by the SAFE strategy for trachoma and health extension program combined with preventive chemotherapy during enhanced outreach services are plausible explanations for the changing patterns of intestinal parasite prevalence. The extent of intestinal protozoa infections suggests poor water quality or unsanitary water collection and storage practices and warrants targeted intervention. 相似文献26.

Phytochemical investigation of the ethyl acetate fraction of the methanol extract of the leaves of Ixora coccinea led to the isolation and identification of an A-type trimeric proanthocyanidin epicatechin-(2β → O → 7, 4β → 8)–epicatechin-(5 → O → 2β, 6 → 4β)–epicatechin named ixoratannin A-2 along with seven known compounds, epicatechin, procyanidin A2, cinnamtannin B-1, and four flavon-3-ol rhamnosides viz: kaempferol-7-O-α-l-rhamnnoside, kaempferol-3-O-α-l-rhamnoside, quercetin-3-O-α-l-rhamnopyranoside, and kaempferol-3,7-O-α-l-dirhamnoside. The structures were elucidated by the application of IR, UV, MS, 1D-, and 2D-NMR spectroscopic analyses and by comparison with literature data. Antioxidant evaluation of isolated compounds revealed that ixoratannin A-2 and cinnamtannin B-1 were the most active compounds in DPPH, inhibition of lipid peroxidation and nitric oxide radical scavenging assays. Antibacterial activities were assessed by means of agar-diffusion assays using Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus subtilis. All tested compounds inhibited the growth of B. subtilis, while only epicatechin and quercetin-3-O-α-l-rhamnopyranoside inhibited the growth of E. coli. 相似文献

Three prenylated rotenoids, elliptol, 12-deoxo-12alpha-methoxyelliptone and 6-methoxy-6a,12a-dehydrodeguelin were isolated from the twigs of Millettia duchesnei, together with the known compounds, 6a,12a-dehydrodeguelin, 6-hydroxy-6a,12a-dehydrodeguelin, 6-oxo-6a,12a-dehydrodeguelin, elliptone, 12a-hydroxyelliptone and eriodictyol. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral data and comparison with information reported in the literature and with authentic specimens for some known compounds. Soil amendment with organic wastes in the Highlands of Ethiopia has been greatly reduced by widespread use of dung cakes and crop residues as fuels. This study assessed the interaction between household energy and recycling of nutrients and carbon to the soil using household survey, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, direct observations and measurements between 2014 and 2015 in Kumbursa village (Central Highlands of Ethiopia). All surveyed households were entirely dependent on biomass fuel for cooking, with production and consumption rates directly related to wealth status, which significantly varied (P < 0.001) among three farm wealth groups (poor, medium and rich). Crop residues and dung cakes accounted for 80(±3)% by energy content and 85(±4)% by dry mass weight of total biomass fuel consumption. Mean losses were 59(±2) kg ha?1 yr?1 nitrogen (109(±8) kg yr?1 per household), 13.9(±0.3) kg ha?1 yr?1 phosphorus (26(±2) kg yr?1 per household), 79(±2) kg ha?1 yr?1 potassium (150(±11) kg yr?1 per household) and 2100(±40) kg ha?1 yr?1 organic carbon (3000(±300) kg yr?1 per household). Rich farmers lost significantly more carbon and nutrients in fuel than farmers in other wealth groups. However, these losses were spread over a larger area, so losses per land area were significantly higher for medium and poor than for rich farmers. This means that the land of poorer farmers is likely to become degraded more rapidly due to fuel limitations than that of rich farmers, so increasing the poverty gap.
