The effect of high fat diet (HFD) on thyroid hormones (T3/T4) and protective role of selenium (Se) were studied in rats. Se levels in serum and liver decreased significantly, whereas glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in liver and lipid levels (cholesterol and triglycerides) in serum increased after 1, 2 and 3 months of HFD feeding in comparison to controls in all the three Se status i.e. deficient (0.02 ppm), adequate (0.2 ppm) and excess (1 ppm) groups. Levels of T3/T4 decreased significantly on HFD feeding, as compared to respective controls in all the groups. Within the deficient group, as Se deficiency progressed, T3/T4 levels decreased after 2 and 3 months in comparison to 1 month. A significant increase was observed in T3/T4 concentration on feeding 1 ppm (excess) Se supplemented diet, in comparison to adequate group. Also, in 1 ppm Se supplemented group as the Se deposition increased i.e. after 2 and 3 months, levels of T3/T4 increased significantly. So, the present study indicates that Se supplementation up to 1 ppm normalizes the T3 and T4 concentrations or regulates the hypothyroidism induced by hyperlipidemia.  相似文献

The Arabidopsis thaliana MAP65-1 and MAP65-2 genes are members of the larger eukaryotic MAP65/ASE1/PRC gene family of microtubule-associated proteins. We created fluorescent protein fusions driven by native promoters that colocalized MAP65-1 and MAP65-2 to a subset of interphase microtubule bundles in all epidermal hypocotyl cells. MAP65-1 and MAP65-2 labeling was highly dynamic within microtubule bundles, showing episodes of linear extension and retraction coincident with microtubule growth and shortening. Dynamic colocalization of MAP65-1/2 with polymerizing microtubules provides in vivo evidence that plant cortical microtubules bundle through a microtubule-microtubule templating mechanism. Analysis of etiolated hypocotyl length in map65-1 and map65-2 mutants revealed a critical role for MAP65-2 in modulating axial cell growth. Double map65-1 map65-2 mutants showed significant growth retardation with no obvious cell swelling, twisting, or morphological defects. Surprisingly, interphase microtubules formed coaligned arrays transverse to the plant growth axis in dark-grown and GA(4)-treated light-grown map65-1 map65-2 mutant plants. We conclude that MAP65-1 and MAP65-2 play a critical role in the microtubule-dependent mechanism for specifying axial cell growth in the expanding hypocotyl, independent of any mechanical role in microtubule array organization.  相似文献

Emergence of Amsoy soybean (Glycine max) seed inoculated withSclerotinia sclerotiorum was significantly reduced below noninoculated seed at soil temperatures of 25°, 30°, and 35 °C, but not at 20 °C.S. sclerotiorum was readily reisolated from wound-inoculated stems of seedlings and nearly mature plants above the point of inoculation and below to the crown area, but not from roots. The fungus was recovered from stems but not roots of 15-day seedlings grown in sterile soil before infestation of the soil surface with a suspension of mycelium and sclerotia and assayed at 15 days after soil infestation. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and reliability of preoperative ultrasound (US)-guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) in the diagnosis of xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis (XGC) and coexistent lesions (carcinoma) and also to evaluate the possibility ofmissing either carcinoma or XGC on cytology. STUDY DESIGN: The cytologic diagnoses of XGC and coexistent lesions were made according to standard criteria. In a prospective, 5-year study, preoperative US-guided FNAC from 42 cases of XGC was compared with follow-up histologic diagnoses, which were available in 31 cases. When FNAC after the first aspiration showed the aspirate to be nondiagnostic, FNAC was repeated under US guidance. RESULTS: Preoperative US-guided FNAC diagnoses of XGC were made in 31 cases, for which follow-up histology was available in all cases. US-guided FNAC diagnosis ofXGC only was made in 30 cases and coexistent lesions in 1 case. Followup histology revealed 26 cases of XGC, 4 of a coexistent lesion and 1 of squamous cell carcinoma only. The overall diagnostic accuracy of preoperative US-guided FNAC was 96.77%. The overall possibility of missing XGC was 3.33% and that of carcinoma, 12.01%. CONCLUSION: Preoperative US-guided FNAC is safe, rapid, reliable, cost-effective and accurate in diagnosing XGC. However, the possibility ofcoexistent carcinoma cannot be definitely ruled out. It is therefore recommended that FNAC be performed from multiple suspicious sites under radiologic guidance. Thus, preoperative US-guided FNAC diagnosis would help in determining the urgency of treatment and also in planning the surgical procedure for gallbladder lesions.  相似文献

Background  

Chloroplast genome sequences are extremely informative about species-interrelationships owing to its non-meiotic and often uniparental inheritance over generations. The subject of our study, Fagopyrum esculentum, is a member of the family Polygonaceae belonging to the order Caryophyllales. An uncertainty remains regarding the affinity of Caryophyllales and the asterids that could be due to undersampling of the taxa. With that background, having access to the complete chloroplast genome sequence for Fagopyrum becomes quite pertinent.  相似文献
