Introduction
Citrate is an old metabolite which is best known for the role in the Krebs cycle. Citrate is widely used in many branches of medicine. In ophthalmology citrate is considered as a therapeutic agent and an useful diagnostic tool—biomarker.Objectives
To summarize the published literature on citrate usage in the leading causes of blindness and highlight the new possibilities for this old metabolite.Methods
We conducted a systematic search of the scientific literature about citrate usage in ophthalmology up to January 2018. The reference lists of identified articles were searched for providing in-depth information.Results
This systematic review included 30 articles. The role of citrate in the leading causes of blindness is presented.Conclusions
Citrate might help inhibit cataract progression, in case of questions confirm glaucoma diagnosis or improve cornea repair treatment as adjuvant agent (therapy of ulcerating cornea after alkali injury, crosslinking procedure). However, the knowledge about possible citrate usage in ophthalmology is not widely known. Promoting recent scientific knowledge about citrate usage in ophthalmology may not only benefit of medical improvement but may also limit economic costs caused by leading causes of blindness. Further studies on citrate usage in ophthalmology should continuously be the field of scientific interest.33.

Genera of the Cephennomicrus group of the Cephenniini (Scydmaenitae) are revised, and the following new taxa are described: Trichokrater gen.n. , Trichokrater ekkentros sp.n. (type species of Trichokrater) (Borneo), Cephennococcus gen.n. , Cephennococcus kuchingensis sp.n. (type species of Cephennococcus) (Borneo), Cephennococcus kenyirensis sp.n. (West Malaysia), Cephennococcus crassus sp.n. (Borneo), Cephennococcus minutissimus sp.n. (West Malaysia), Pomphopsilla gen.n. , Pomphopsilla luhya sp.n. (type species of Pomphopsilla) (Kenya) and Pomphopsilla soror sp.n. (Kenya). Unique subcuticular pockets with setose openings on the pronotum of Trurlia and Trichokrater are identified as glandular structures. Enigmatic internal prothoracic cavities are described for the first time in Scydmaeninae (in Cephennococcus, Pomphopsilla and a female of an undescribed genus from Sulawesi); their fine structure and function remain unknown. Parsimony‐based cladistic analysis of the adult morphology of genera of Cephenniini provided robust evidence for a monophyly of the Cephennomicrus group, composed of Cephennomicrus, Cephennula, Lathomicrus, Pomphopsilla, Cephennococcus, Trurlia, Trichokrater and two undescribed Oriental genera known from females only; this distinct and well‐supported lineage is a sister group of Cephennodes + Hlavaciellus. The genus Cephennomicrus represented in the analysis by species belonging to three previously postulated species groups is not monophyletic, and a comprehensive study comprising more taxa is necessary to reclassify this heterogeneous group. 相似文献

The subject of these studies was synthesis and determination of biological properties of a series of insect peptides, such as alloferon, Any‐GS and their analogues. The synthesis of 14 peptides was performed by the solid‐phase method. Biological effect of these peptides was evaluated by the antiviral test against Human Herpes Virus type 1 (HHV‐1) in vitro using a Vero cell line. The common structural alterations in the cell-surface glycoproteins concern the highly elevated expression of tri- and tetra-antennary beta1-6-N-acetylglucosamine (beta1-6 GlcNAc) bearing N-glycans, which are recognised by Phaseolus vulgaris agglutinin (PHA-L). In this report we identified proteins bearing beta1-6 GlcNAc branched N-glycans in three human melanoma cell lines: WM35--from the primary tumour site, as well as WM239 and WM9 from different metastatic sites: the skin and the lymph node, respectively, by tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) on PHA-L agarose bound material, followed by immunochemical identification. Our results show that melanoma cell lines differ from each other in the number of N-glycoproteins bearing beta1-6 GlcNAc branched oligosaccharides. Among identified proteins the largest group consists of integrin subunits. In addition, L1-CAM, Mac-2 binding protein, melanoma cell adhesion molecule, intercellular adhesion molecule, melanoma associated antigen, tumour rejection antigen-1, melanoma-associated chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan 4 and lysosome-associated membrane protein (LAMP-1) were found. It was indicated that WM35 cell line showed the lowest number of proteins possessing beta1-6 GlcNAc branched N-glycans in comparison to metastatic WM9 and WM239 cell lines. Our data suggest that changes in the number of proteins being a substrate for GlcNAc-TV are better correlated with melanoma development and progression than with expression of cell adhesion molecules. 相似文献

Abstract: Microconchid tubeworms (Tentaculita) encrusting brachiopod shells have been investigated from the upper Frasnian – lower Famennian (Upper Devonian) deposits of the Central Devonian Field, Russia. The condition of microconchids and associated encrusting taxa is reported for the first time from the early Famennian recovery interval (crepida Chron) following the Frasnian–Famennian mass extinction. Two species, one new (Palaeoconchus variabilis sp. nov.) and the second one in open nomenclature (Palaeoconchus sp.), are described. Compared to lower Famennian specimens, they seem to be preferentially grouped on the anterior parts of the brachiopod host shells, which are interpreted as the most suitable sites away from the sea‐bottom and sediment. During the late Frasnian (Late rhenana Chron), microconchids, outnumbered by cornulitids and as abundant as foraminifers, were also associated with trepostome bryozoans, tabulates, rugose corals and various problematic encrusters. During the early Famennian recovery interval encompassing the crepida Chron, microconchids greatly outnumbered all associated encrusters, including the previously dominant cornulitids, while foraminifers, tabulates and rugose corals vanished. Early Famennian microconchids, represented by the single, albeit very abundant, species Palaeoconchus variabilis sp. nov., were opportunists that rapidly colonised the environment during the ongoing transgression following the regression‐driven biotic crisis in the area of the Central Devonian Field. In comparison to their late Frasnian predecessors and even other Middle Devonian specimens, no size reduction (the so‐called Lilliput effect) of early Famennian microconchid tubes was observed. It is probable that microconchids either rapidly attained their ‘normal’ sizes or they did not suffer any dwarfism following the Frasnian–Famennian event. 相似文献

Genetic susceptibility to HIV infection was previously proven to be influenced by some chemokine receptor polymorphisms clustering
on chromosome 3p21. Here the influence of 5 genetic variants was studied: Δ32CCR5, G(-2459)ACCR5, G190ACCR2, G744ACX3CR1 and C838TCX3CR1. They were screened in a cohort of 168 HIV-1 positive adults [HIV(+) group] and 151 newborns [control group] from northwestern
Poland. PCR-RFLP was performed to screen for the variants (except for A32CCR5 polymorphism, where PCR fragment size was sufficient to identify the alleles) and then electrophoresed on agarose gel to
determine fragment size. Distribution of genotypes and alleles was not significantly different between the groups except for
theCCR5 polymorphisms, with the A32 allele and the (-2459)ACCR5 allele more frequent among neonates than in the HIV(+) group. No Δ32/Δ32 homozygotes were found in the HIV(+) group, but
16.1% were Δ32/wt heterozygotes. In the control group, 1.3% were Δ32/Δ32 homozygotes and 26.0% were Δ32/wt heterozygotes.
Linkage between the chemokine polymorphisms was calculated using the most informative loci for haplotype reconstruction. Haplotypes
containing Δ32 CCR5,190GCCR2 and 744ACX3CR1 were found to be significantly more common in the control group. This suggests an association between these haplotypes and
