Antibodies were raised in rabbits against 70S ribosomes, 50S and 30S ribosomal subunits individually. Purified immunoglobulins
from the antiserum against each of the above ribosomal entities were tested for their capabilities of precipitating 70S, 50S
and 30S ribosomes. The observations revealed the following: (i) The antiserum (IgG) raised against 70S ribosomes precipitates
70S ribosomes completely, while partial precipitation is seen with the subunits, the extent of precipitation being more with
the 50S subunits than with 30S subunits; addition of 50S subunits to the 30S subunits facilitates the precipitation of 30S
subunits by the antibody against 70S ribosomes. (ii) Antiserum against 50S subunits has the ability to immunoprecipitate both
50S and 70S ribosomes to an equal extent. (iii) Antiserum against 30S subunits also has the property of precipitating both
30S and 70S ribosomes. The differences in the structural organisation of the two subunits may account for the differences

The effects of intravenous infusion of dopamine (20 microgram.min) on the steady-state ventilatory and carotid chemoreceptor responses to successive levels of isocapnic hypoxia and hyperoxic hypercapnia were investigated in cats anesthetized with alpha-chloralose. Dopamine infusion was followed by a maximal decrease in ventilation in about 20 s. Thereafter, the effect diminished and stabilized. Termination of dopamine infusion was promptly followed by an increase in ventilation. These ventilatory responses were smaller than the corresponding carotid chemoreceptor responses. The steady-state effect of dopamine infusion was to diminish ventilation at all levels of arterial O2 tension, the decrease being greater during hypoxia than that during hyperoxia. Bilateral section of the carotid sinus nerves significantly diminished but did not abolish the inhibitory effect of dopamine on ventilation during hyperoxia. Thus the ventilatory depression due to dopamine infusion is not entirely due to its effect on the carotid chemoreceptors. Dopamine decreased ventilatory responses to successive levels of hypercapnia by the same magnitude without changing the slope of the response curves. The steady-state relationship between chemoreceptor activity and ventilation shows that the ventilatory equivalent for carotid chemoreceptor activity is increased during dopamine infusion because of its greater inhibitory effect on carotid chemoreceptor activity than on ventilation with the decrease of arterial O2 tension. 相似文献

Kinetics of mouse spleen colony forming units were studied after intra-peritoneal injection of 1 mug/blody weight bacterial endotoxin S. typhosa. When these mice were used as unirradiated and sublethally irradiated donors, it was possible to study the effect of the endotoxin injection upon the cells.Use of the treated mice as irradiated recipients of normal cells gave information about the host effect. In treated unirradiated mice, the total nucleated cell and the CFU counts were disturbed, and 2 days later a large fraction of the CFU were found in the DNA synthesis (S) phase. This meant that injection of endotoxin generated factors affecting the kinetics of the CFU and triggering the resting CFU into the proliferative cycle. If then the mice were given supralethal irradiation and used as recipients of normal bone marrow cells, more CFU seeded to the spleen as compared to normal recipients; but the dip and the growth rate of the CFU were not changed. Hence the endotoxin-generated factors had been eliminated in 2 days. A total body sublethal irradiation by 400 rad X-ray 2 days after endotoxin injection reduced the post-irradiation dip in the recovery curve of the CFU, indicating that though the factors affecting the cell kinetics had been eliminated, the cycling CFU behaved like a growing population. During the first week, the growth rate of the CFU remained the same as in control irradiated mice. The growth rate of the spleen CFU of the endotoxin-treated mice slowed down during the second week, and their self-replicating ability was low. Fluctuations in the DNA synthesizing fraction of the spleen CFU suggested a variability in the ratio of the length of the S phase and the cell generation time. 相似文献
