Synthesis and structure of dinuclear complexes [{FeIII(L5)}b{FeIII(L5)}](BPh4)2, where L5 is a pentadentate Schiff-base ligand, b is a bidentate N-oxide bridging ligand based on bipyridine, is reported. Magnetic behavior is investigated in terms of the magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, and Mössbauer spectroscopy revealing that the complexes are high-spin over the whole temperature region.  相似文献

Summary Active fibrous septa are a common feature in liver fibrosis and cirrhosis. Their etiology and formation were studied using cultures of tissue fragments or cells included in collagen gels. Liver fragments obtained from patients with cirrhosis or severe schistosomal fibrosis were able to reorganize the gel and to form discrete, interconnecting fibrous septa composed of parallel arrays of collagen, subsequently colonized by migrating connective tissue cells. The same was obtained in cultures of fibrogranulomatous lesions isolated from schistosome-infected mice livers. However, fragments of normal human and murine liver tissue did not show the capacity to form fibrous septa. Septa formation was also obtained in cultures of cell spheroids formed by liver connective tissue cells isolated from human fibrotic or cirrhotic liver tissues, but not with spheroids of normal skin fibroblasts or smooth muscle cells. This experimental model may represent the fibrous septa formation in vivo, depending on the activity of liver connective tissue cells. The ability of tissue fragments or cell spheroids to form septa in collagen gels might reflect the degree of fibrosis present in the liver tissue in vivo. Analogs (di- and trialanine, tetra- and pentapeptide) to the peptide sequence in Group A streptococcus peptidoglycan were synthetized and were used to inhibit the antipeptide portion of peptidoglycan antibodies. The reactions between these peptidoglycan antibodies and peptidoglycan immunodeterminants on whole cells, isolated cell walls, and peptidoglycans were studied by the immunoferritin technique. Of the peptides used, pentapeptide exhibited the highest inhibiting capacity. The nature and distribution of ferritin-labeled immunodeterminants were identical on isolated peptidoglycans and cell walls as well as on both surfaces of either of these materials. A very low capacity of the M-protein amino acid sequence to inhibit the immunoferritin reaction indicated that the ferritin-labeled structures on whole-cell surfaces were the pentapeptide of peptidoglycan and not the M-protein residues.  相似文献

Some typical and more frequent freshwater invertebrates of running waters were studied to examine the influence of styrene, xylene and benzene on their mortality. Snails Amphimelania holandri FÉR. and Lymnaea stagnalis L. and crustacenas Asellus aquaticus L. and Gammarus fossarum KOCH. , were used in the semi-static test. Compounds were added in volume concentrations of 0.005 to 0.4% v/v. For all concentrations LC50 was calculated by probit method, which demonstrated that mortality depends much more on increased concentrations (depending on the initial concentration) than on the length of exposure. Styrene was the most toxic, followed by xylene and then benzene. The species G. fossarum showed marked sensitivity, followed by A. aquaticus, and the species A. holandri and L. stagnalis showed less sensitivity.  相似文献

The invasion and spread of non-native species of many different kinds of organisms is of increasing interest to researchers. Invasions by microscopic organisms, however, are poorly understood, and their impact on the environment is probably underestimated. We collected available data on non-native and invasive/expansive algae and cyanobacteria in the Czech Republic; we mapped their distribution and assessed their impact on local species and other real or potential risks resulting from their spread. The list of alien species in the Czech Republic contains 10 species of cyanobacteria, 9 species of Bacillariophyceae, 1 species of Dinophyta, 1 species of Ulvophyceae, 2 species of Chlorophyceae, and 1 species complex of Zygnematopyceae. The literature on the worldwide occurrence of these taxa is also reviewed.  相似文献

The yeast Trk1 polypeptide, like other members of the Superfamily of K Transporters (SKT proteins) consists of four Membrane-Pore-Membrane motifs (MPMs A-D) each of which is homologous to a single K-channel subunit. SKT proteins are thought to have evolved from ancestral K-channels via two gene duplications and thus single MPMs might be able to assemble when located on different polypeptides. To test this hypothesis experimentally we generated a set of partial gene deletions to create alleles encoding one, two, or three MPMs, and analysed the cellular localisation and interactions of these Trk1 fragments using GFP tags and Bimolecular Fluorescence Complementation (BiFC). The function of these partial Trk1 proteins either alone or in combinations was assessed by expressing the encoding genes in a K+-uptake deficient strain lacking also the K-channel Tok1 (trk1,trk2,tok1Δ) and (i) analysing their ability to promote growth in low [K+] media and (ii) by ion flux measurements using “microelectrode based ion flux estimation” (MIFE). We found that proteins containing only one or two MPM motifs can interact with each other and assemble with a polypeptide consisting of the rest of the Trk system to form a functional K+-translocation system.  相似文献

In Europe, the countries with the highest suicide rates form a so-called J-curve, which starts in Finland and extends down to Slovenia—a country with one of the world's highest suicide rates. So far, the strongest association between suicide and genes has been shown for the serotonergic system. A functional polymorphism 68G>C (Cys23Ser) and a promoter polymorphism–995G>A of serotonin receptor 2C (HTR2C) have already been investigated, but no associations with suicide were determined. In the present study 334 suicide victims and 211 controls of Slovenian origin were genotyped for the above-mentioned polymorphisms using standard methods. In the case of the polymorphism–995G>A no association with suicide was found. However, a significant association was observed between female suicide victims and polymorphism 68G>C. The significance remained when we combined alleles of female and male populations. An excess of GG genotype and allele G was observed. However, no statistically important differences were present when only males were analyzed. Haplotype analysis on female population showed marginal association of haplotype G-C with suicide. The present study speaks for the plausible implication of the HTR2C in suicide susceptibility.  相似文献
