According to the data of trawl catches performed by the R/V “TINRO” in the upper epipelagic zone (0–50 m) of Pacific waters off the Kuril Islands from June 2 to July 8, 2012, the abundance of nekton was the lowest for the recent 9 years; thus, its density in 2012 (1.5 t/km2) was lower than the average value for the 2004–2012 period (2.40 ± 0.39 t/km2). The major portion of the nekton biomass was formed by pacific salmon (706 000 tons, or 43.6%); their role grows abruptly during pre-spawning migrations of pink salmon, whose proportion reached 29.8% (483 000 t). In 2012, the recorded biomass of pre-anadromous pink salmon was as high as those in the previous 3 years, and even higher than the estimate of 2010 (479 800 t), which is the largest value for even-numbered years. The value of 2012 also was comparable with the estimates for the previous odd-numbered year, 2011, when the total biomass of the species constituted 496 500 t. Chum salmon stands out among other salmon for its record-high biomass (192 700 t, 11.9%), which was twice as high as that in 2011. The biomass and the share of the mesopelagic fish complex was the lowest (286800 t, 17.7%) since 2004. Among other fish species, Kuril groups of walleye pollock also had a substantial biomass (381 200 t, 23.5%). The total biomass of squid (225 300 t, 13.9%) was lower than the value of 2011 (326 300 t, 14.8%) owing to the decline in the biomass of Boreopacific gonate squid by 90 000 t. 相似文献

Selective targeting of transfected mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) carrying specific antioncogenes to the tumor was suggested as a treatment option. Bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP2) was shown to inhibit the proliferation and aggressiveness of osteosarcoma (OS) cells. Here, we aimed to assess the homing efficiency of intraperitoneally administered hMSCs transfected with BMP2 to the tumoral site and their effects on OS using an orthotopic xenograft murine model. Orthotopic xenograft murine model of OS in six-week-old female NOD/SCID mice using 143B cells was established. hMSCs transfected with BMP2 (BMP2+hMSC) were used. In vivo experiments performed on four groups of mice that received no treatment, or intraperitoneally administered BMP2, hMSCs, and BMP2+hMSCs. Histopathological and immunohistochemical studies were used to evaluate the pathological identification and to assess the dimensions and necrotic foci of the tumor, the features of lung metastases, and immunostaining against p27, Ki-67, and caspase-3 antibodies. The osteogenic differentiation markers BMP2, BMP4, COL1A1, OPN, OCN and PF4 evaluated using RT-PCR. The tumor dimensions in the hMSCs group were significantly higher than those of the remaining groups (p < 0.01). The number of metastatic foci in the BMP2+hMSCs group was significantly lower than those of the other groups (p < 0.01). The current results showed that the intraperitoneal route could be efficiently used for targeting hMSCs to the tumoral tissues for effective BMP2 delivery. In this study, the effects of BMP2 transfected hMSCs on human OS and metastasis were promising for achieving osteogenic differentiation and reduced metastatic process. 相似文献

Integral evaluation of some humoral and cellular immunity factors in patients with pseudotuberculosis (Far-East scarlatinoid fever) with varying severity of its course was carried out. Inadequate immune reaction of human organism in response to infection with pseudotuberculosis was established at the level of both specific (sporadic cases of lacking synthesis or poor synthesis of IgM antibodies, lacking synthesis of IgG antibodies) and non-specific factors (incomplete phagocytic reaction). Phagocytosis is higher in monocytes than in neutrophils during pseudotuberculosis. The opsonizing properties of blood serum, the intensity of which increases in the course of disease, are great importance in freeing the organism from bacteria of pseudotuberculosis. The most rapid and technically simplest is the determination of antibodies in blood serum of the patients by means of the reaction of indirect hemagglutination. The specific activity of urease, nitrogenase, hialuronidase and neuraminidase in Y. pseudotuberculosis grown in different culture media and at different temperature has been studied. These enzymes have been found capable of functioning at both relatively low (2-8 degrees C) and high (37 degrees C) temperatures. The thermoadaptive properties of Y. pseudotuberculosis within a wide range of temperatures are ensured by the constant presence of isoenzymes, functioning only at low temperatures or only at high temperatures, in the microbial cells. Low temperature in combination with a definite culture medium triggers the activity of certain enzymatic systems, which explains, to some extent, the biochemical mechanisms of the psychrophilic properties of Y. pseudotuberculosis. 相似文献
