Study of the distribution of C14-variamycin and C14-mitramycim after intravenous administration to mice]

Distribution of antitumor antibiotics, i.e. C14-variamycin and C14-mitramycin in the organs of albino mice after their intravenous administration in single doses was studied. Similarity in the distribution dynamics of both the antibiotics with respect to the animal organs was found. However, the level of variamycin as compared to that of mitramycin was much higher in the liver and especially the spleen. In the experiments with variamycin the radioactivity of the kidney tissue decreased more rapidly than in the experiments with mitramycin. Chromatographic analysis of the urine of the mice treated with C14-variamycin was performed. The labeled Variamycin was detected in the animal urine within 48 hours from the moment of the antibiotic administration. Its portion in the total amount of the radioactive products in the urine was 30 to 40% at various stages of the study.     

Fusion of planar bilayer phospholipid membranes with liposomes]

Lecithine-cholesterol liposomes containing amphotericin B ionoforic marker were used to study the interaction between liposomes and planar phospholipid membranes. The liposomes were shown to increase the permeability of the planar membrane, which may be explained in terms of membrane fusion. Bivalent cations (Mg2+ and particularly Ca2+), dicetylphosphate producing negatively charged groups on the membrane surface and the n-decane suspension in water promote the fusion, whereas the increase of the cholesterol content in the liposomes prevents it.     

Effects of trophoblastic beta 1-glycoprotein (TBG) on the functional activity of different cell lines

The effect of TBG on the functional activity of different cell lines, spontaneous and Con A induced proliferation of PBL was studied. If concentration of TBG is higher than 50 mu kg/ml it suppresses the proliferation in many used cell lines, except choriocarcinoma and cancer of uterus. The reliable increasing of spontaneous proliferation of PBL, Jurkat and K-562 cells may be observed if concentration is more lower (0.5-15 mu kg/ml). However proliferation of other cell lines corresponds to control level, and Con A induced proliferation of PBL is inhibited. The effect was more marked at 48, as compared to 24 hours of cell incubation with TBG.     

Study of functional properties of chemically-modified hemoglobin during circulation in the blood channel

Functional activity of the solutions of chemically modified hemoglobins (Hb) with different structure had been investigated during the replacement of acute fatal blood loss in dogs. It was found the correlation between polymerization degree of Hb derivatives and alterations of its oxygen-carrying characteristics in the process of circulation. It was shown that decline of functional activity at the prolonged terms of circulation was more expressed for macromolecular Hb derivatives with heterogeneous structure. Therefore chemically modified Hb free from high molecular weight fractions may be considered as a potential oxygen-carrying fluids, because they are capable of more effective support of the oxygen transport level in the organism.
