Various spiro[chroman-2,4′-piperidin]-4-one derivatives (38a–m and 43a–j) have been designed, synthesized and evaluated for in vitro acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) inhibitory activity. Several compounds have shown ACC inhibitory activity in low nanomolar range. Compound 38j reduced the respiratory quotient (RQ) in C57BL/6J mice indicating increase in whole body fat oxidation even in the presence of high carbohydrate diet. An improved protocol for genetic transformation of juvenile explants of Carrizo (Citrus sinensis Osb. × Poncirus trifoliata L. Raf.), Duncan (Citrus paradisi Macf.), Hamlin (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) and Mexican Lime (Citrus aurantifolia Swingle) cultivars using a vector containing a bifunctional egfp-nptII fusion gene is described. Several parameters were investigated to optimize genetic transformation of these four cultivars.
It was determined that a short preincubation in hormone rich liquid medium and subculture of Agrobacterium for 3 h in YEP medium containing 100 μM acetosyringone were required for improvement of transformation efficiency. Co-cultivation
duration as well as addition of acetosyringone to co-cultivation medium also played an important role in transformation efficiency
as did OD600 value of the Agrobacterium suspension used for transformation. We regenerated numerous EGFP expressing transgenic lines from all four cultivars. Based
on these results, we conclude that genetic transformation of citrus is cultivar specific and optimization of conditions for

The cytochemical use of azures A, B and C, propared with either N HCL and potassium metabisulphite or with sodium hydrosulphite in tissue sections were investigated. Both in situ absorption curves of nuclei stained with each of these dye-SO2 reagents as well as in vitro absorption data of acqueous solutions of the dyes are also presented. It has been pointed out that the mechanism of staining with azure A-SO2 and azure C Eosinate-SO2 is the same as that of the conventional Feulgen reaction with Schiff reagent but that of staining with azure B-SO2 is by the modified Feulgen reaction because this dye does not contain any primary amino group. 相似文献

Summary
Oryza coarctata, a highly salt-resistant wild rice species, is commonly found on the banks of coastal rivers in India. This species can also
withstand saline water (20 to 40 dSm−1 E.C) submergence for quite a long period. It was revealed thatO. coarctata has some special unicellular salt hairs (trichomes) on the adaxial surface of the leaves, by which they efficiently maintain
a low concentration of toxic salts in the plant tissue. Sodium and chloride were the dominant ions in the excreted material
but they also excrete potassium, magnesium and calcium. With the increase in soil salinity sodium, magnesium and chloride
excretion increased.O. coarctata maintained the optimum mineral concentration in its tissues. Maximum accumulation of potassium was observed in the leaves.
With the increase in salt stress total biomass production and osmotic potential increased over control but there was no change
