Mycoplasma anatis, a member of the class Mollicutes, is the causative agent of a contagious infectious disease of domestic ducklings, wild birds, and eggs. Increasing reports show that coinfection of M. anatis with Escherichia coli results in substantial economic impacts on the duck farms in China. Carcinogenic risk assessments of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in four sites from the Central Himalayas (Bode, Lumbini, Pokhara, and Dhunche) were performed. Lifetime Average Daily Dose (LADD), Lifetime lung cancer risk (LLCR) and Incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) were calculated in order to evaluate the cancer risk. PAHs levels were converted to BaP equivalent concentrations (B[a]Peq), and models of health risk assessment were applied. B[a]Peq concentrations exceeded the standard limited value (1 ng/m3) in all the four sites. The human health risk assessment (HHRA) demonstrated high carcinogenic risk on residents of Bode and Lumbini. Further, LLCR in all sites were over the acceptable range (1.15E-03, 7.90E-04, 1.40E-04 and 9.96E-05, respectively); however, ILCR ranking exhibited acceptable range in Lumbini, Pokhara, and Dhunche (7.10E-06, 1.26E-06, and 8.95E-07). The risk variation among the sites is due to the difference in pollution status. The study shows health risk due to atmospheric PAHs via inhalation prevails all the seasons throughout, differing only seasonally; nevertheless, the concentration and carcinogenic risk decreased remarkably from south-north transect of the central Himalaya. Keeping some uncertainties aside, this study provides noble insights and helps to formulate new advance assessment on the carcinogenic risk of atmospheric PAHs over the Central Himalayas. 相似文献
Body coloration serves a variety of purposes in animals. Diurnal and nocturnal predators such as spiders may use their body coloration to lure prey. We predicted here that the white patches on the forelegs on females of the nocturnal semi‐aquatic spider Dolomedes raptor lure prey, explaining why they are primarily displayed when the spider forages along the water edge. To test our prediction, we developed a color vision model assessing whether the patches are visible to pygmy grasshoppers, the spider's primary prey. We conducted a field experiment using cardboard dummies that resemble D. raptor in size, shape, and color, but with half of them lacking leg patches, and we staged interactions between pygmy grasshoppers and D. raptor with and without leg patches in a greenhouse. We found the white patches to be visible to grasshoppers. The dummies with white patches attracted more grasshopper prey than the dummies without the patches. Moreover, grasshoppers were more attracted to spiders when their white patches were present. Our results supported the hypothesis that the white patches of D. raptor lure prey. Our findings, nevertheless, could not be explained as the spider's body coloration acting as a sensory trap but it should not be ruled out. More studies on a wider range of predators and prey will give more meaningful insights into the co‐evolution of predatory lures and prey sensory modalities. 相似文献
Caucasian populations have a higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) when compared with their Chinese counterparts and CVD is associated with autonomic function. It is unknown whether autonomic function during exercise recovery differs between Caucasians and Chinese. The present study investigated autonomic recovery following an acute bout of treadmill exercise in healthy Caucasians and Chinese. Sixty-two participants (30 Caucasian and 32 Chinese, 50% male) performed an acute bout of treadmill exercise at 70% of heart rate reserve. Heart rate variability (HRV) and baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) were obtained during 5-min epochs at pre-exercise, 30-min, and 60-min post-exercise. HRV was assessed using frequency [natural logarithm of high (LnHF) and low frequency (LnLF) powers, normalized high (nHF) and low frequency (nLF) powers, and LF/HF ratio] and time domains [Root mean square of successive differences (RMSSD), natural logarithm of RMSSD (LnRMSSD) and R–R interval (RRI)]. Spontaneous BRS included both up-up and down-down sequences. At pre-exercise, no group differences were observed for any HR, HRV and BRS parameters. During exercise recovery, significant race-by-time interactions were observed for LnHF, nHF, nLF, LF/HF, LnRMSSD, RRI, HR, and BRS (up-up). The declines in LnHF, nHF, RMSSD, RRI and BRS (up-up) and the increases in LF/HF, nLF and HR were blunted in Chinese when compared to Caucasians from pre-exercise to 30-min to 60-min post-exercise. Chinese exhibited delayed autonomic recovery following an acute bout of treadmill exercise. Bioaerosols are biologically originated particles present in the atmosphere that can be formed from any process involving biological materials. They comprise of both living and non-living components including organisms, dispersal methods of organisms, and excretions. Bioaerosols such as airborne bacteria, fungal spores, pollen, and others possess diverse characteristics and effects. A large gap exists in the scientific understanding of the overall physical characteristics and measurement of bioaerosols. Consequently, this review aims to devise an appropriate approach to generate more scientific knowledge of bioaerosols. In addition to comparisons and discussions about the various factors affecting bioaerosols, sampling, handling, and the application of various devised analytical techniques, this review offers insight into the current state of bioaerosol research. The review focuses on instrumental and methodical strategies to understand bioaerosol measurement. Numerous studies have investigated conventional methods, advanced methods, and real-time methods that can be applied for bioaerosol monitoring. Each method is different in terms of working principle, characteristics, sensitivity, and efficiency. For the first time, this review explains and compares different methods of conventional, offline, online, and real-time detection methods of bioaerosols based on their working principles, sensitivity, and efficiency on a single platform. This will provide a clear concept and better options for selecting the appropriate method based on the research proposal. Furthermore, recent advances are summarized, and future outlooks are emphasized for bioaerosol identification and categorization. This study also encourages developing affordable and standardized methods to avoid the inter-laboratory and sampling variability to obtain a better understanding and comparison of bioaerosol measurements worldwide. Nevertheless, this work can assist researchers in selecting appropriate methods for bioaerosol measurement and investigation.
Bacterial diversity and cell abundance in the snow of the four glaciers (Guoqu, Zadang, East Rongbuk and Palong No. 4) located
in different climatic zones of the Tibetan Plateau were investigated through culture-independent molecular analysis of 16S
rRNA gene clone library and flow cytometry approaches. Cell abundance ranged from 0.68 × 103 to 720 × 103 cells mL−1, with higher values in the northern glaciers than in the southern ones. Bacterial diversity was unexpectedly high in the
snow habitats of the world’s highest plateau, with 15 common genera distributed widely among the glaciers. The bacterial diversity
in the snow at different glaciers was related to the surrounding environments. The Guoqu Glacier, to the north near the desert
zone and with the lowest temperature, preserved more bacteria closely related to a cold environment and soil than the other
glaciers. However, in the Palong No. 4 Glacier located in the south warm region around vegetation, most bacteria were phylogenetically

The mechanism of casing soil stimulating the primordium formation of Agaricus bisporus is not well understood so far. Our results showed that 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase (AcdS)-producing bacteria were abundant in the casing soil of A. bisporus and accounted for up to 20 % of total culturable bacteria. A. bisporus produced ACC and ethylene. The supplement of methionine increased the ACC concentrations within the hyphae, and aminooxyacetic acid displayed an opposite effect. Methionine and ACC promoted the ethylene production while CoCl2 suppressed the production. The AcdS-producing bacterial strain Pseudomonas putida UW4 co-cultured with A. bisporus could attach to hyphae, stimulate the hyphal growth, and reduce the ethylene production of A. bisporus. Added in sterilized casing soil, it induced the primordium formation of A. bisporus. In comparison, its AcdS-deficient mutant UW4-AcdS? displayed the opposite effects. These results indicated that the inhibitor to the primordium formation of A. bisporus was ethylene; the AcdS-producing bacteria within the casing layer cleaved ACC, lowered the ethylene level in mushroom hyphae, and relieved the inhibition of ethylene.
