The European species of Omphale Haliday (Eulophidae: Entedoninae) are revised. The revision includes 37 species, of which eleven are newly described and the remaining 26 species are redescribed. The species are classified into six species groups, with six unplaced species. All species are fully diagnosed and thoroughly illustrated. Identification keys are provided for females and males. Two new morphological features to aid classification and identification are introduced: male genitalia and wing interference patterns (WIPs). The former has been used successfully in the classification of New World Omphale and the latter is used for the first time in a taxonomic revision. Male genitalia in Omphale have considerable interspecific variation, an unusual trait among chalcidoid Hymenoptera, and are demonstrated to be useful for classification of species and species-groups, and they also possess the only autapomorphy for Omphale. WIPs are useful to help separate some species, but cannot be used to define either the genus or species groups. Distributional data are compiled for each species and suggest a pan-european distribution for most species. Gall-midges are the known hosts for 14 species, and the absence of host overlap between species suggests that host specialization is a driving force for speciation. Several Omphale species are known only from females, or have a strong female biased sex ratio, suggesting thelytokous development. Apart from the 37 species included in this revision, the status for nine additional species (names) in species group aetius remain unsolved. For nomenclatorial stability, a neotype is designated for Eulophus lugens Nees (= Omphale lugens (Nees)). Elachestus obscurus Förster and Derostenus sulciscuta Thomson are transferred from Holcopelte to Omphale comb. n. Derostenus radialis Thomson and Achrysocharella americana Girault are synonymized with Omphale theana (Walker), and Omphale teresis Askew is synonymized with Omphale phruron (Walker), syn. n. The status of genus Pholema Graham is revised as it is removed from synonymy with Omphale and instead synonymized with Neochrysocharis Kurdjumov, syn. n., and the type species for Pholema, Pholema microstoma Graham, is transferred to Neochrysocharis, comb. n. Eugerium orbatum Szelényi, previously transferred to Omphale, is synonymized with Asecodes congruens (Nees), syn. n.  相似文献

The focus of this paper is characterization of Hepatitis A experimental model obtained for the first time in rhesus monkeys (M. mulatta) infected with fecal isolate from a patient with Hepatitis A (HAV-H1). Monkeys were susceptible to oral and intravenous routes of HAV inoculation. The disease could be reproduced regularly in 4 passages as a result of which HAV strain continuously pathogenic for M. mulatta has been established. All 17 infected monkeys developed Hepatitis A with characteristic (except jaundice) patterns: shedding of virus with the stool, elevations of serum alanine aminotransferase level, appearance of IgM anti-HAV, morphological changes developed in the liver. Our data have demonstrated that the course of experimental Hepatitis A infection in M. mulatta is similar (in many respects) to that observed in man.  相似文献

A palaeoecological study was conducted close to the forest limit in the northern Scandinavian mountain range. The aim was to elucidate the degree to which human impact has affected the vegetation at Hiednikvalta, a Stállo settlement site. Stállo settlements consist of round hut foundations that have a hearth in the middle and are surrounded by a low turf wall. They were probably established by Sámi people using the mountain areas for hunting and/or reindeer herding. In order to separate the effects of humans and climate on the vegetation, a reference area approach was adopted, i.e. the vegetation development at the Stállo settlement site Hiednikvalta was compared with the vegetation development in a forested reference area Avvuhatjåhkkå, at the same altitude as Hiednikvalta but with no archaeological remains of settlements. Peat stratigraphies were retrieved at the two sites and pollen analysis, loss-on-ignition (LOI), pollen accumulation rates (PAR), macrofossil analysis and Betula pollen size statistics were all examined. The results indicate that Hiednikvalta was forested with Betula trees prior to the Stállo settlement period, which occurred between the eighth and thirteenth centuries. Human activities resulted in a decrease in tree cover at the site, as found in a previous study at Adamvalta, another Stállo settlement site in the region. However, the magnitude of vegetation change, and the post-Stállo vegetation development differed between the two areas, suggesting that site-specific factors are important. The use of reference areas in palynological studies is also discussed.  相似文献

The novel metalloporphyrins (M = HH, Fe, Mn, Co, Cu, Zn) bearing 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol pendants as antioxidant substituents, and a long chain hydrocarbon palmitoyl group have been synthesized. The oxidation of compounds by PbO2 leads to the formation of the corresponding 2,6-di-tert-butylphenoxyl radicals studied by EPR. The activity of porphyrins in lipid peroxidation has been examined using (1) in vitro lipid peroxidation induced by tert-butylhydroperoxide in respiring rat liver mitochondria, (2) in vitro lipid peroxidation in liver homogenates of Wistar strain rats, and (3) a model process of peroxidation of (Z)-octadec-9-enic (oleic) acid as a structural fragment of lipids. The activity of these compounds depends dramatically on the nature of metal and might be changed from antioxidative (M = HH, Mn, Cu, Zn) to indifferent (M = Co), and to pro-oxidative one (M = Fe). The anti- or pro-oxidative action of these compounds may be derived from the concurrence between the involvement of 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol pendants acting as radical scavengers and redox active metal center promoting oxidation processes. The results of this study suggest that the polytopic compounds combining in one molecule 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol pendants, metalloporphyrin moiety, and a palmitoyl group, are membrane active compounds and might be studied in an effort to find novel pharmaceutical agents.  相似文献

The dynamics of the main contaminating radionuclides in the components of aquatic ecosystems within the Chernobyl APP exclusion zone is considered. The possible causes are analyzed for the marked increase in the specific activity of 90Sr in water and hydrobionts of the lakes at the dammed left bank of river Pripyat. Notable is the elevated frequency of chromosomal aberrations in the root meristems of aquatic higher plants (up to 17%) and in the embryonal tissues of gastropod mollusks (up to 27%), alterations in the hematological indices for gastropods, and high infestation of aquatic higher plants by parasitic fungi and gall arthropods in the most radiocontaminated reservoirs.  相似文献

Background and Aims

In a future warmer subarctic climate, the soil temperatures experienced by dispersed seeds are likely to increase during summer but may decrease during winter due to expected changes in snow depth, duration and quality. Because little is known about the dormancy-breaking and germination requirements of subarctic species, how warming may influence the timing and level of germination in these species was examined.

Methods

Under controlled conditions, how colder winter and warmer summer soil temperatures influenced germination was tested in 23 subarctic species. The cold stratification and warm incubation temperatures were derived from real soil temperature measurements in subarctic tundra and the temperatures were gradually changed over time to simulate different months of the year.

Key Results

Moderate summer warming (+2·5 °C) substantially accelerated germination in all but four species but did not affect germination percentages. Optimum germination temperatures (20/10°C) further decreased germination time and increased germination percentages in three species. Colder winter soil temperatures delayed the germination in ten species and decreased the germination percentage in four species, whereas the opposite was found in Silene acaulis. In most species, the combined effect of a reduced snow cover and summer warming resulted in earlier germination and thus a longer first growing season, which improves the chance of seedling survival. In particular the recruitment of (dwarf) shrubs (Vaccinium myrtillus, V. vitis-idaea, Betula nana), trees (Alnus incana, Betula pubescens) and grasses (Calamagrostis lapponica, C. purpurea) is likely to benefit from a warmer subarctic climate.

Conclusions

Seedling establishment is expected to improve in a future warmer subarctic climate, mainly by considerably earlier germination. Low soil organic matter content and limited soil water holding are the major natural constraint of dryland cropping on sandy soils in the Quebec boreal regions. We conducted a 3-yr (1994–1996) study in a boreal sandy soil, Ferro-Humic Podzol (Spodosols), to determine the potential of Sphagnum peat for improving soil organic matter (SOM), water holding capacity, bulk density (BD), plant leaf nutrient status, and potato and barley yields. The cropping was a rotation of 2-yr potato (Solanum tuberosum L. Superior) and 1-yr barley (Hordeum vulgare L. Chapais). The treatments consisted of Sphagnum peat at rates of 0, 29, 48, and 68 Mg ha–1 3-yr–1 on a dry weight basis, and granular N-P-K fertilizers (12-7.5-7) at rates of 1.4, 1.6, and 1.8 Mg ha–1 yr–1, respectively, arranged in a split-block design. The peat-amended soils were higher in water content (SWC), SOM and total porosity but lower in BD and N than neighboring non-peat soils (P < 0.05). Effects of peat and fertilizer treatments and their interaction were significant on potato leaf N, Ca, Mg, and P, tuber yield, dry weight, harvested N and tuber specific gravity (P < 0.05), depending on year. Potato tuber yield and N increased simultaneously up to 30% (compared to the control), and were significantly correlated with SWC, SOM, BD, and NO3-N (–0.52 r 0.80). In the 3rd year, the linear effect of peat treatments was significant on barley grain yield. In 1995 there was a decline of 4.5–7.3% of SOM of the previous year level. It is suggested that Sphagnum peat at a rate of 48 Mg ha–1 had the potential for improving sandy soil productivity. A longer-term investigation of soil water, N, SOM pool and crop yield changes is necessary to better understand the physical, chemical and biological processes of peat in cropping systems and to maximize the benefits of peat applications.  相似文献

The intensity of biosynthesis processes in animal organism has been studied as affected by long-term administration of morphine. It was established that morphine administration to rats for five weeks intensified protein biosynthesis in the brain, kidneys, skeletal muscles: specific radioactivity of blood serum proteins also increased. Incorporation of 2-/14C/glycine label to the brain, cardiac and skeletal muscles increased as affected by morphine: the label incorporation to the liver lipids decreased and that to the kidney and spleen lipids did not change. Specific radioactivity of glycogen multiply increased in the rat liver as affected by morphine.  相似文献
