Aberrant microRNA (miR) expression is implicated in multiple human malignancies. miR-21, acting as a proto-oncogene, is involved in a variety of cellular processes and tumorigenesis and is frequently overexpressed in some cancer types. Several tumor suppressors, metastatic, and apoptotic genes have been identified as miR-21 targets, including Ras homolog gene family member B, PTEN, Sprouty2, programmed cell death 4, Integrin-β4, and E-cadherin thereby regulating tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis. There is a growing evidence that miR-21 expression is associated with clinical outcomes in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). In this review, we summarize the potential diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic values of miR-21 in CRC progression for a better understanding and hence a better management of this disease. 相似文献

The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a large Ser/Thr protein kinase that belongs to the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) family and mediates various physiological and pathological processes, especially cell proliferation, protein synthesis, autophagy, and cancer development. The mTOR expression is transient and tightly regulated in normal cells, but it is overactivated in cancer cells. Recently, several studies have indicated that microRNAs (miRNAs) play a critical role in the regulation of mTOR and mTOR-associated processes, some acting as inhibitors and the others as activators. Although it is still in infancy, the strategy of combining both miRNAs and mTOR inhibitors might provide an approach to selectively sensitizing tumor cells to chemotherapy-induced DNA damage and subsequently attenuating the tumor cell growth and apoptosis. 相似文献

The preventive effect of vitamin D against breast cancer can be influenced by gene polymorphisms. This study aimed to investigate the association between serum level of 25(OH) vitamin D and FTO genotype in breast cancer patients. A cross-sectional study was carried out on 180 newly diagnosed patients with breast cancer in Tehran, Iran. The blood samples were collected from the participants in order to assess the FTO gene rs9939609 polymorphism by the tetra-primer amplification refractory mutation system (Tetra-ARMS) PCR method. The serum level of 25(OH) vitamin D was measured using the direct competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. The association between vitamin D and the FTO genotype in patients with breast cancer was assessed after adjustment for cofounders. The frequency of TT, AT and AA genotypes in the breast cancer patients were 43% (n = 77), 49% (n = 89) and 8% (n = 14), respectively. All patients with higher than 40 ng/dl of serum 25(OH) vitamin D had one or two copies of FTO rs9939609 risk allele (p = 0.019). No linear association was found between the number of FTO risk allele and the level of serum vitamin D. All patients with high serum level of 25(OH) vitamin D had one or two copies of FTO rs9939609 risk allele. FTO gene polymorphisms may counteract the beneficial effects of vitamin D in breast cancer prevention. Further studies can help to better understand the genetic factors predisposing to breast cancer and their effect on the association between vitamin D and breast cancer. 相似文献

Transplantation has a long history in Iran. Cornea was the first tissue transplantation in 1935. The Central Eye Bank of Iran
was established in 1991 and the Iranian Tissue Bank (ITB) in 1994. Now, there are also some private cell and tissue banks
in the country, that produce different tissue grafts such as homograft heart valves, musculoskeletal tissues, soft tissues,
cartilages, pericardium, amniotic membrane and some cell based products. There is not a separate legislation for tissue transplantation
but the legal framework for tissue donation is based on the “Deceased or Brain dead patient organ transplantation” act (passed on April 6, 2000). For tissue banking there is no regulatory oversight by the national health authority. To
increase the level of safety and considering the importance of effective traceability, each tissue bank has its own policy
and terminology for coding and documentation without any correlation to others. In some cases tissue banks have implemented

Background
Primary non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) of the breast represents 0.04–0.5% of malignant lesions of the breast and accounts for 1.7–2.2% of extra-nodal NHL. Most primary cases are of B-cell phenotype and only rare cases are of T-cell phenotype. Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) is a rare T-cell lymphoma typically seen in children and young adults with the breast being one of the least common locations. There are a total of eleven cases of primary ALCL of the breast described in the literature. Eight of these cases occurred in proximity to breast implants, four in relation to silicone breast implant and three in relation to saline filled breast implant with three out of the eight implant related cases having previous history of breast cancer treated surgically. Adjuvant postoperative chemotherapy is given in only one case. Secondary hematological malignancies after breast cancer chemotherapy have been reported in literature. However in contrast to acute myeloid leukemia (AML), the association between lymphoma and administration of chemotherapy has never been clearly demonstrated.Case Presentation
In this report we present a case of primary ALCL of the breast arising in reconstruction mamoplasty capsule of saline filled breast implant after radical mastectomy for infiltrating ductal carcinoma followed by postoperative chemotherapy twelve years ago.Conclusion
Primary ALK negative ALCL arising at the site of saline filled breast implant is rare. It is still unclear whether chemotherapy and breast implantation increases risk of secondary hematological malignancies significantly. However, it is important to be aware of these complications and need for careful pathologic examination of tissue removed for implant related complications to make the correct diagnosis for further patient management and treatment. It is important to be aware of this entity at this site as it can be easily misdiagnosed on histologic grounds and to exclude sarcomatoid carcinoma, malignant melanoma and pleomorphic sarcoma by an appropriate panel of immunostains to arrive at the correct diagnosis of ALCL. 相似文献1000.

Brucellosis is a worldwide zoonosis and represents one of the most important public health problems in many countries, especially around the Mediterranean basin, Middle East, India and Central and South America. Currently subunit vaccines are being considered to develop effective vaccines for human which has been evidenced by vaccines currently available against the infections such as meningococcal diseases and influenza. The application of new adjuvants of microbial origins is also underway to design subunit vaccines promoting the immune responses to the antigenic determinant(s) of the vaccine. In order to explore the efficacy ofBrucella abortus lipopolysaccharide (LPS) combined with different adjuvants and proteins (as a vaccine candidate) in the induction of immune response as an effective and long-lasting immunity againstBrucella, we evaluated the outer membrane vesicle ofNeisseria meningitidis serogroup B (GBMOMV) as a subcutaneous adjuvant and a part of a brucellosis candidate vaccine to induce high titres of specific anti-Brucella abortus S99 LPS in animal model (mice). The obtained results were compared with complete and incomplete Freund’s adjuvants (CFA and IFA). LPS+GBMOMV was the most immunogenic compound that stimulated following the first injection and increase in IgG titre of about 3.90, 3.18 and 1.58 fold higher than that produced against LPS, LPS+IFA and LPS+CFA, respectively. The highest anti-LPS IgG titre was detected two weeks after the third injection (the day 42) of LPS+GBMOMV. Purified GBMOMV can be considered as a safe subcutaneous adjuvant and a part of a candidate vaccine when combined with lipopolysaccharide ofBrucella abortus S99. 相似文献
