To test the hypothesis that the vasopressin receptors found in seminal vesicles are similar to those present in the renal tubules competition experiments were performed with vasopressin and several analogues with different specificities for the V1 and V2 subtypes of vasopressin receptor. Autoradiographic studies were carried out on sections from seminal vesicles and kidney to identify the cellular target of vasopressin. Vasopressin receptors in renal medulla and seminal vesicles of pigs shared the same rank order of potency for vasopressin and its analogues and were localized in the epithelium of the seminal vesicles and in collecting tubules of renal medulla. These results strongly suggest that the vasopressin receptors present in kidney and seminal vesicles belong to the same subtype, V2, of vasopressin receptor.  相似文献

Platelet-activating factor (PAF) is a phospholipid actively produced by human endometrium and deeply involved in the processes of ovoimplantation and labor. We recently found that PAF represents a new autocrine growth factor for a human adenocarcinoma cell line, HEC-1A. Indeed, biologically active PAF is synthesized by HEC-1A cells, under progesterone control. In HEC-1A cells, PAF regulates intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca2+]), DNA synthesis and expression of early oncogenes. All these effects are blocked by the receptor antagonist L659,989. However, while nanomolar concentrations of PAF mobilize [Ca2+], only micromolar concentrations affect cell growth, suggesting heterogeneity of PAF receptors or signaling. Two distinct populations of PAF receptors are present in HEC-1A cells, which bind PAF in nanomolar and micromolar concentrations, respectively. Since HEC-1A cells are producing elevated concentrations of PAF and micromolar concentrations of the PAF antagonist L659,989 inhibit cell proliferation, an autocrine role for PAF is suggested in HEC-1A cells.  相似文献

Between 1980 and 1998, 4272 thyroid surgical specimens with a preoperative fine needle aspirate were sent to our Anatomical Pathology Department. Among these cases there were 17 primary thyroid lymphomas, which constituted 0.3% of all the thyroid lesions and 2.3% of the thyroid malignancies. Seven cases were diffuse large B-cell (DLBC) lymphomas and 10 were MALT lymphomas. Of the DLBC lymphomas six were correctly diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and one was diagnosed as positive for malignancy, and among MALT lymphomas four were diagnosed as lymphoma, four as suspicious for lymphoma, and three as Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT). Our data indicate that the diagnosis of primary thyroid lymphoma of high grade is easy, and immunocytochemistry (ICC) can confirm suspicious cases. The diagnosis of MALT lymphoma is more difficult; ICC can confirm suspicious cases, and false-negative results seem to be caused by sampling error, because HT usually coexists with MALT lymphoma.  相似文献

The effects of agonist and antagonist cholinergic and adrenergic drugs on spontaneous electrical activity of transverse muscular strips of pigeon cervical oesophagus were examined. Tetrodotoxin failed to affect EMG activity. Cholinomimetics produced excitatory effects. The response to carbachol was enhanced by hexamethonium and reversed into an inhibitory effect by atropine. Noradrenaline evoked a concentration-dependent, biphasic effect (inhibition at low and excitation at high concentrations). Isoproterenol induced inhibitory response unaffected by tetrodotoxin. Phenylephrine induced excitatory response completely antagonized by tetrodotoxin and partially opposed by atropine. It is concluded that: i) the oesophageal spontaneous EMG activity is myogenic; ii) the intramural neurons have no tonic influence on the spontaneous EMG activity; iii) in the intramural plexuses there are cholinergic excitatory-, non-cholinergic excitatory- and inhibitory neurons, with unknown neurotransmitter; iv) excitatory alpha-adrenoceptors, located on the nervous elements and inhibitory beta-adrenoceptors, located on the smooth-muscle cells, are present.  相似文献

An original method for 5-androsten-3beta,17beta-diol (A-diol) measurement using an antiserum against A-diol-16-CMO-BSA is described. A-diol and testosterone (T) were determined by radioimmunoassay methods in spermatic and peripheral venous plasma of nine normal subjects during surgical intervention for inguinal hernia repair. In spermatic venous plasma the levels of T and A-diol were, respectively, 25.9 +/- 13.3 and 4.8 +/- 5.1 microgram/100ml (mean +/- SD) with an A-diol/T ratio of 0.19 +/- 0.15 (mean +/- SD); in peripheral plasma the levels of T and A-diol were, respectively, 269 +/- 58 and 91 +/- 25 ng/100 ml (mean +/- SD) with an A-diol/T ratio of 0.35 +/- 0.12 (mean +/- SD) significantly different from spermatic venous plasma (p less than 0.01). From these data a mean testicular A-diol secretion of about 0.70 mg/24 h can be calculated: this value corresponds approximately to the 50% of the blood production rate (BPR) of this steroid. So it can be assumed that a large amount of A-diol in systemic blood comes from sources outside the male gonad.  相似文献

The first occurrence of Palisada maris-rubri (K.W. Nam et Saito) K.W. Nam (Ceramiales, Rhodomelaceae) from the Mediterranean Sea, is reported. To date the species was known only from tetrasporic specimens from the type locality (Ras Muhammed, Sinai, Egypt, Red Sea). Mediterranean thalli share nearly all vegetative and reproductive features with Red Sea specimens showing more robust thalli with axes to 3 mm broad and ultimate branchlets to 1000 µm broad, absence of intercellular spaces between medullary cells and epidermal cells in transverse section with a palisade arrangement. Male and cystocarpic thalli are recorded for the first time. Moreover, the analysis of characters of three species of Chondrophycus previously known from the Mediterranean Sea ( C. patentirameus (Montagne) K.W. Nam, C. tenerrimus (Cremades) G. Furnari et al. and C. thuyoides (Kützing) G. Furnari) led us to conclude that they belong to the genus Palisada . The following new combinations are formally proposed: P. patentiramea (Montagne) Serio et al., P. thuyoides (Kützing) Serio et al., P. tenerrima (Cremades) Serio et al.  相似文献
