Taxonomic considerations are given for the genus Lissothus Vachon, 1948 (Scorpiones, Buthidae). Two species are currently known, Lissothus bernardi Vachon, 1948 from Libya and Lissothus occidentalis Vachon, 1950 from Mauritania. In this contribution, a new species, Lissothus chaambi sp. n., is described from the desert of Central Algeria. The new species is most closely related to L. bernardi. The geographical distribution of the genus is discussed. 相似文献

The chemical composition of 93 oil samples from the aerial parts of Pituranthos scoparius, harvested in three regions of Algeria, was investigated by GC‐FID, GC/MS and 13C‐NMR. Monoterpene hydrocarbons dominated in association with phenylpropanoids and a chemical variability was found highlighting three clusters. The composition of group I (36 samples) exhibited an atypical composition characterized by a very high contents of 6‐methoxyelemicine (13.0 – 59.6%), followed by sabinene (1.1 – 43.0%) and limonene (6.6 – 39.0%), while the samples of group II (12 samples) contained a high content of limonene (9.2 – 44.0%), followed by myristicine (0.0 – 29.4%) and a lower amount of sabinene (0.8 – 2.3%). Group III (45 samples) could be divided in two subgroups. Subgroup SGIIIA was characterized by a very high content of sabinene (28.0 – 55.6%), followed by elemicine (0.0 – 29.1%), while the samples belonging to SGIIIB were characterized by the lower content of sabinene (6.2 – 35.5%) and a significant content of myristicine (1.5 – 32.4%), α‐pinene (4.2 – 31.0%) and dill apiole (0.1 – 31.4%). Each harvested region was characterized by a different chemical composition. 相似文献

Four strains of rhizobia nodulating Acacia were isolated from the Moroccan desert soil by trapping with seedlings of Acacia gummifera and Acacia raddiana, and were studied for their ability to tolerate high salinity and dryness conditions. The strains MDSMC 2, MDSMC 18 and MDSMC 50 were halotolerant (they tolerated up to 1 M NaCl) and they accumulated glutamate and mannosucrose. The synthesis of the latter solute, which is the major endogenous osmolyte, is partially repressed in the presence of glycine betaine. The strain MDSMC 34 was less halotolerant (growth inhibited by a concentration greater than 0.5 M NaCl), and accumulated trehalose (as the main endogenous osmolyte) and glutamate. Rhizobia from the Moroccan desert soil were highly resistant to desiccation and their tolerance to dryness was stimulated by osmotic pretreatment. Thus, the accumulation of mannosucrose or trehalose by desert rhizobia represents both an osmoadaptative response and a part of a desiccation tolerance mechanism. 相似文献

While numerous biologically active peptides contain D-amino acids, the elaboration of such species is not carried out by ribosomal synthesis. In fact, the bacterial ribosome discriminates strongly against the incorporation of D-amino acids from D-aminoacyl-tRNAs. To permit the incorporation of D-amino acids into proteins using in vitro protein-synthesizing systems, a strategy has been developed to prepare modified ribosomes containing alterations within the peptidyltransferase center and helix 89 of 23S rRNA. S-30 preparations derived from colonies shown to contain ribosomes with altered 23S rRNAs were found to exhibit enhanced tolerance for D-amino acids and to permit the elaboration of proteins containing D-amino acids at predetermined sites. Five specific amino acids in Escherichia coli dihydrofolate reductase and Photinus pyralis luciferase were replaced with D-phenylalanine and D-methionine, and the specific activities of the resulting enzymes were determined. 相似文献

The murine IL-3-dependent myeloid cell line 32D undergoes a rapid death when deprived of interleukin-3 (IL-3), a process that is suppressed or delayed by the constitutive expression of Bcl-2 or the Bcl-2-related Bcl-xL survival protein. The adenovirus type 5 E1B region encodes an E1B 55K protein, that has been reported to bind and inactivate the p53 protein that plays an important role in the induction of apoptosis. In order to explore the potential effect of the E1B 55K protein on IL-3 deprival-induced cell death, we have established 32D cell lines overexpressing the adenovirus E1B 55K protein and compared its ability to modulate the cell death with that of the human Bcl-2 protein. We observed that E1B 55K, as Bcl-2, delays the cell death caused by either IL-3-deprivation or DNA damage induced by gamma-irradiation. Cell-cycle analysis after IL-3 deprivation indicated that surviving Bcl-2 transfectants accumulate predominantly in the G0/G1 phase of the cell cycle, while E1B 55K transfectants survive in both G0/G1 and the S and G2/M phases of the cell cycle. zVAD-fmk, a broad caspase inhibitor, prevented chromatin condensation and fragmentation, but not cell death, suggesting that IL-3 deprivation induces a cell death program in which the caspases are dispensable. In contrast, both E1B 55K and Bcl-2 allowed cell survival and prevented the typical features of programmed cell death, such as phosphatidyl-serine exposure, loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, and chromatin condensation and fragmentation. Our findings indicate that the adenovirus 5 E1B 55K protein has the capability to act as a survival factor, and suggest that E1B 55K exerts its effect upstream of the activation of effector caspases, by preventing the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential induced by IL-3 deprivation. 相似文献

Syzygium aromaticum is used in traditional and modern medicine for its various and outstanding pharmacological properties. Here, we studied the chemical composition of hexane extract and non-polar fractions (NPF) obtained from the maceration and fractionation of clove buds, in order to evaluate their in vitro antimycobacterial activity, as well as their contribution against efflux pump (EP) resistance through molecular docking experiments. The gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis of the volatile profiles revealed the presence of eugenol, followed by eugenyl acetate, and β-caryophyllene as common major compounds. According to Resazurin microtiter assay (REMA), Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv strain was sensitive to all volatile samples at concentration range between 10 and 100 μg/mL. The NPF of ethanol extract was the best inhibitor with a MIC=10 μg/mL. The in silico study revealed a strong binding affinity between eugenol and Mmr EP protein (−8.1 Kcal/mol), involving two binding modes of hydrogen bond and π-alkyl interactions. The non-polarity character of clove volatile constituents, and their potential additive or synergistic effects could be responsible for the antimycobacterial activity. In addition, these findings suggest the benefic effect of eugenol in the management of mycobacterium drug resistance, whether as potential inhibitor of Mmr drug EP, or modulator during combination therapy. 相似文献

BackgroundPhlebotomine sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae) are important vectors of various human and animal pathogens such as Bartonella bacilliformis, Phlebovirus, and parasitic protozoa of the genus Leishmania, causative agent of leishmaniases that account among most significant vector-borne diseases. The Maghreb countries Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya occupy a vast area of North Africa and belong to most affected regions by these diseases. Locally varying climatic and ecological conditions support diverse sand fly fauna that includes many proven or suspected vectors. The aim of this review is to summarize often fragmented information and to provide an updated list of sand fly species of the Maghreb region with illustration of species-specific morphological features and maps of their reported distribution.Materials and methodsThe literature search focused on scholar databases to review information on the sand fly species distribution and their role in the disease transmissions in Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya, surveying sources from the period between 1900 and 2020. Reported distribution of each species was collated using Google Earth, and distribution maps were drawn using ArcGIS software. Morphological illustrations were compiled from various published sources. Results and conclusionsIn total, 32 species of the genera Phlebotomus (Ph.) and Sergentomyia (Se.) were reported in the Maghreb region (15 from Libya, 18 from Tunisia, 23 from Morocco, 24 from Algeria, and 9 from Mauritania). Phlebotomus mariae and Se. africana subsp. asiatica were recorded only in Morocco, Ph. mascitti, Se. hirtus, and Se. tiberiadis only in Algeria, whereas Ph. duboscqi, Se. dubia, Se. africana africana, Se. lesleyae, Se. magna, and Se. freetownensis were reported only from Mauritania. Our review has updated and summarized the geographic distribution of 26 species reported so far in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya, excluding Mauritania from a detailed analysis due to the unavailability of accurate distribution data. In addition, morphological differences important for species identification are summarized with particular attention to closely related species such as Ph. papatasi and Ph. bergeroti, Ph. chabaudi, and Ph. riouxi, and Se. christophersi and Se. clydei. 相似文献

The mathematical modelling of hematopoiesis received a significant attention in the last few years. However, the treatment of hematological diseases is less investigated by optimal control tools. In this paper, we consider the dynamics of chronic myeloid leukemia based on a four dimensional model. First we analyze the global dynamics of normal and cancer hematopoietic stem cells and differentiated cells using the principle of Bendixson-Dulac. Then we introduce some nonlinear effects of imatinib treatment over a fixed period of time. We represent therapy effects as an optimal control problem to minimize the cost of treatment and the level of cancer cells. The influence of imatinib onto the division and the mortality rates of cancer cells produces the suboptimal response, resistance and recovery forms. 相似文献

Cymbopogon schoenanthus (L.) Spreng . (Poaceae) is an aromatic plant whose aerial parts and rhizome produced an essential oil with pleasant odor. A chemical variability has been observed depending of the countries where the plant grows wild, including Algeria. The chemical compositions of 24 oil samples isolated from plants harvested in Central Algeria have been investigated, to evidence homogeneity or chemical variability within a given area of harvest. Twenty of these were dominated by cis‐ and trans‐p‐menth‐2‐en‐1‐ols (22.6 %±3.6 and 14.3 %±1.7, resp.) beside four atypical compositions. Otherwise, aerial parts and rhizomes produced similar essential oils. Lastly, a fair antimicrobial activity was measured against Staphylococcus aureus strain, while the antioxidant potential was low. 相似文献
