Changes in macromolecule syntheses, especially RNA synthesis, and the energy providing system were investigated in seeds ofAgrostemma githago aged for different periods. In embryos of aged seeds all macromolecule syntheses start later and reach a lower level than young ones. It was found that the synthesis of rRNA in embryos of aged seeds is reduced whereas the synthesis of poly (A+) RNA in relation to the total RNA synthesis is highly increased as well as the amount of this RNA species with long poly (A) chains. The results are discussed in connection with the decreased protein synthesis and the reduced ATP content and ATP formation ability in embryos during the long time storage of seeds.  相似文献

Summary Five anti-gastrin releasing peptide (GRP) sera have been characterized against GRP, bombesin and related polypeptides spotted on cellulose acetate discs. Antibodies reacting with the C-terminal G-14 sequence of bombesin and the 19–27 sequence of GRP, were detected in all sera. Antibodies directed exclsively against the bombesin unrelated 1–17 sequence of GRP were found only in one serum (R-6902). With parallel immunohistochemical tests only the C-terminal immunoreactivity was detected in endocrine-paracrine cells of the chicken proventriculus, while both immunoreactivities were present in nerve fibres and a few nerve cell bodies of the mammalian gut. The distribution of GRP- and bombesin-like immunoreactive nerves in the gastric mucosa of both pyloric and oxyntic type the submucosal and myenteric plexus along the whole gastrointestinal wall and at sphincter regions is detailed.  相似文献

The reversed-phase mode of high-performance liquid chromatography was used to determine the intra- and inter-individual levels of UV-absorbing low-molecular-weight compounds in saliva. Many of the compounds known to occur in serum were also found in saliva; however, concentrations in saliva are lower. Both the intra- and inter-individual levels of these compounds vary significantly; in most cases, the inter-individual variance is 2–3 times the intra-individual variance.

Caffeine and its metabolites in saliva are also reported. A greater number of metabolites were found in the saliva of habitual coffee drinkers. After caffeine was administered orally, paraxanthine, theobromine, theophylline, 1-methylxanthine, and 1-methyluric acid were found in the saliva of an individual who did not drink coffee regularly. In this subject, the serum half-life for caffeine was 3.49 h and the saliva half-life was 3.27 h. The half-life of caffeine in an habitual coffee drinker who had refrained from caffeine products for four days was 4.39 h.  相似文献

The sera of 30 healthy male beagles were analyzed by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. The profiles were compared with those obtained from the sera of 30 healthy human donors. The chromatograms of each group were very reproducible; however, there were characteristic differences between the two groups. The compounds observed in both the human and canine profiles were identified as creatinine, uric acid, tyrosine, hypoxanthine, xanthine, kynurenine, inosine and tryptophan. Compounds present only in the canine profiles were identified as cytindine, riboflavin and 5-methylcytidine. Compounds present only in the human profiles include uridine, guanosine, hippuric acid and the dietary dependent compounds theobromine and caffeine. The compounds present in both human and canine sera were quantitated and compared statistically. The amounts of these compounds were very similar, except for uric acid.  相似文献

Graded levels of aflatoxin fed to broiler chickens for 3 weeks decreased the levels of most B vitamins in plasma, bile, and liver and decreased all free and hydrolyzed amino acids from peptides in plasma. The levels of thiamine, riboflavin, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, and choline decreased by more than 60% in bile; vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, and choline decreased by more than 49% in plasma; thiamine, vitamin B6, pantothenic acid, choline, folate, and niacin decreased by more than 19% in liver; and only bile and plasma levels of folate increased (78 and 12%, respectively) with a dietary level of 5 microgram of aflatoxin per g of feed. Plasma levels of cystine and cysteine, methionine, threonine, serine, and aspartic acid decreased by more than 37%, whereas valine, lysine, leucine, histidine, hydroxyproline, and alanine decreased by more than 9% with 2.5 microgram of aflatoxin per g of feed. The data suggest that aflatoxin interferes with the metabolism of B vitamins and amino acids in chicks. However, these changes may be measuring the effects of aflatoxin-induced hepatic necrosis.  相似文献

The suggestion that calcitonin is contained within the structure of the common precursor to ACTH and endorphin was examined. Immunohistochemical staining demonstrated calcitonin in thyroid parafollicular cells, and ACTH and 16K fragment in ACTH/endorphin cells of pituitary. No 16K fragment immunostaining was detected in thyroid parafollicular cells; no calcitonin staining was detected in pituitary. Immunoprecipitation of [35S]methionine-labeled molecules synthesized by rat intermediate pituitary cells demonstrated that neither 30K precursor, 16K fragment nor any other major labeled cell product was recognized by calcitonin antiserum. Analyses of tryptic peptides of 30K precursor indicated that peptides expected from calcitonin were not present in 30K precursor.  相似文献

Summary The question is examined whether -melanocyte stimulating hormone (-MSH), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), met-enkephalin and -endorphin are detectable by enzyme immunocytochemistry in the cells of the intermediate lobe (PI) of the rat pituitary. By applying antibodies against MSH, ACTH and -endorphin on light microscopic sections, intense immunostaining was found in all PI-cells. At the ultrastructural level, after treatment of consecutive serial sections with these three antibodies the immunoreactivity was localized in the same secretory granules. Encysted embryos of the crustacean Artemia salina contain an enzymatic activity which hydrolyzes N-acetylphenylalanyl-tRNA to N-acetylphenylalanine and tRNA. The enzyme apparently does not hydrolyze other free or N-substituted aminoacyl-tRNAs. The levels of this enzyme do not significantly change during embryonic and early larval development. In contrast, an unspecific hydrolase active on several N-substituted aminoacyl-tRNAs is practically absent in the encysted embryos and during embryogenesis and appears abruptly during larval development. The independent temporal expression of these two hydrolases during Artemia salina differentiation makes this organism siuitable for the study of the physiological role of these enzymes.  相似文献
