Hamster ovaries explanted at 21:00-24:00 h on the day of pro-oestrus were incubated with microbial proteinase inhibitors until 10:30 h on the next morning and the ovulatory blocking effect of these inhibitors was examined. Amongst 11 proteinase inhibitors examined, talopeptin, a specific inhibitor for metallo-proteinases, and alpha-MAPI, a specific inhibitor for serine and thiol proteinases, were the strongest blockers. These 2 inhibitors exhibited a chronological discrepancy in their blocking effect on ovulation. S-SI, plasminostreptin, elastatinal, antipain and chymostatin, which are inhibitors for serine proteinases, partly but significantly inhibited ovulation. The results suggest that, in addition to a metallo-proteinase reported previously, a proteinase which is sensitive to alpha-MAPI is essential for the ovulatory process, and that serine proteinase(s) also participate in ovulation of the hamster ovary.  相似文献

A system was developed to control arterial O2 and CO2 partial pressure (Pao2, and Paco2) simultaneously and independently of each other. The system makes changes in inspired fractional concentration of O2 and CO2 based on values for end-tidal O2 and CO2 partial pressure. The system was applied in 23 normal subjects. In attempts to maintain a Pao2 of 90 Torr and a Paco2 of 40 Torr, arterial blood gases were 91.1 +/- 6.5 (SD) Torr for Pao2 and 41.2 +/- 3.2 Torr for Paco2. In attempts to maintain a Pao2 of 40 Torr and a Paco2 of 40 Torr, arterial blood gases were 40.4 +/- 3.9 Torr for Pao2 and 38.9 +/- 2.5 Torr for Paco2. In attempts to maintain a Pao2 of 90 Torr and a Paco2 of 55 Torr, arterial blood gases were 98.1 +/- 11.5 Torr for Pao2 and 52.8 +/- 3.4 Torr for Paco2. Coefficients of variations ranged from 7.1 to 11.7% for Pao2 and 6.4 to 7.8% for Paco2.  相似文献

The uridine-5-0-derivatives, 5-methoxyuridine (mo5U) and uridine-5-oxyacetic acid (cmo5U) occupy the first position of anticondons in certain tRNA species of B. subtilis and E. coli, respectively. Here we present experimental evidence showing that both modifications are derived from a common precursor, 5-hydroxyuridine. Incompletely modified tRNASer and tRNAVal from E. coli met- rel-. All five tRNAs accepted methyl groups from S-adenosylmethionine with B. subtilis extracts in vitro and mo5U was formed. In B. subtilis tRNAs the mo5U was proved to be at the specific site; in E. coli tRNAVal the mo5U was demonstrated to be present in the oligonucleotide that comprises the anticodon. In submethylated E. coli tRNAVal,5-hydroxyuridine was detected whereas considerable amounts of cmo5U were lacking.  相似文献

To clarify how pit-building antlion larvae behave during prolonged periods of low resource abundance, pit relocation rate, giving-up time, and respiration rate under starvation conditions were examined, using three species of antlion larvae. Most larvae ofMyrmeleon bore never relocated their pits before they starved to death, while larvae ofHagenomyia micans relocated more often thanMyrmeleon formicarius (average number of pit relocations 0.04 forM. bore, 0.19 forM. formicarius, and 0.62/individual/10 days forH. micans). The relative respiration rate, a ratio of respiration rate at starvation to that at satiation, was lower inM. bore andM. formicarius than in H. micans. Thus, there was an inversely proportional relationship between the pit relocation rate and the decrease in respiration rate under starvation conditions in the three species of antlion larvae.  相似文献
