Centperazine or diethylcarbamazine, administered at various dose levels to rats inhibited the activity of succinate dehydrogenase significantly in 4 hrs in liver. Centperazine also inhibited the activity of cytochrome-c oxidase but stimulated the activity of benzo (a) pyrene hydroxylase in liver. In kidneys, activities of succinate dehydrogenase, cytochrome-c oxidase and aniline hydroxylase were significantly inhibited by centperazine only, however, the activity of benzo (a) pyrene hydroxylase was inhibited by both the drugs. These drugs had no effect on the activity of aminopyrene N-demethylase and cytochrome P-450 contents of liver and kidneys.  相似文献

A 4a-carbinolamine intermediate is generated stoichiometrically during the tetrahydrobiopterin-dependent phenylalanine hydroxylation reaction catalyzed by phenylalanine hydroxylase. The dehydration of the carbinolamine is catalyzed by the enzyme, 4a-hydroxytetrahydropterin dehydratase. We have now examined the distribution of the dehydratase activity in various rat tissues by activity measurements and by immunoblot analysis to explore the possibility that the dehydratase may also play a role in tyrosine and tryptophan hydroxylation. The only two tissues that express relatively high dehydratase activity are liver and kidney, which are also the only two tissues that express phenylalanine hydroxylase activity. The dehydratase activity was generally very low in those tissues which contain high levels of tyrosine and tryptophan hydroxylase activity, except for the pineal gland. These results suggest that the dehydratase may not play an important role in the regulation of the synthesis of those neurotransmitters which are derived from the hydroxylated aromatic amino acids.  相似文献

Exfoliative colonic cytology for the diagnosis of colorectal cancer has been largely abandoned due to (1) the widespread use of colonoscopy, (2) the cumbersome methods of cell collection and (3) the occasional difficulty of interpreting the cytologic findings in the presence of inflammatory bowel disease or adenomas. This paper describes a newly formulated bowel preparation for routine colonoscopy, based on imbibing 2 L to 4 L of a balanced electrolyte solution, in which the recovered precolonoscopic effluent (using a convenient disposable collecting kit) yielded cells for cytologic evaluation from 70% of a group of 80 patients at high risk for large bowel neoplasia. Cytology demonstrated neoplastic cells in most cases of endoscopically proven cancer. These results suggest that colonic exfoliative cytology may be useful as a supplemental test to routine colonoscopy. This could be enhanced by further methodologic modifications to the collecting and cytologic methods; large long-term studies are needed to evaluate the potential usefulness of colonic exfoliative cytology.  相似文献

An 11-year-old Jewish girl of Turkish extraction with abetalipoproteinaemia was found to be homozygous for haemoglobin Szuhu (beta80 Asn leads to Lys). Except for the abnormal haemoglobin, no other haematological or biochemical abnormalities were found in her consanguineous parents and one sister. In the propositus, erythrocyte morphology showed the acanthocytosis known to be in association with abetalipoproteinaemia. Increased autohaemolysis was also found, which reverted to normal after treatment with vitamin E. This case represents the first reported association of abetalipoproteinaemia with an abnormal haemoglobin, and the first homozygous Hb G-Szuhu.  相似文献
