AbstractFibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic pain syndrome, characterised by several symptoms. One of the most prevalent symptoms in FM is balance impairment that compromise the autonomy, function and performance status of patients.Purpose: The main objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of sensory stimulation provided by the use of a low additional thickness of 0.8?mm placed under the great toes bilaterally on the centre of pressure (CoP) measures in patients with FM. It was hypothesised that postural ability would change with a low focal additional thickness used to compute these measures.Materials and Method: Twenty-four patients with FM voluntarily participated in this study. Postural performance during quiet standing was investigated through the CoP displacements recorded using a force-plate. Sensory stimulation was provided by a small additional thickness of 0.8?mm placed under the great toe bilaterally and two conditions were compared: additional thickness 0 (control) and 0.8?mm.Results: An improvement of body balance through spatial parameters with sensory cutaneous stimulation applied under the great toe bilaterally were observed in patients with FM. Our results showed a significant decrease of surface area and mean speed of CoP, associated to a significant decrease of variance of speed. An additional observation is that sagittal (Y) mean position of the CoP gets more anterior (+ 5?mm) relative to control condition.Conclusion: These findings brings new clinical perspectives in the development of intervention strategies in the management of patients with FM and balance disorders, completing validated therapeutic strategies. 相似文献

Proliferating shoot cultures of Trifolium repens L . cv. Grasslands Huia have been established on Murashige and Skoog's medium containing 3% sucrose and 0.2 mg l−1 benzylamino purine. The shoots could be readily rooted on media without cytokinin and transferred to potting mix with 100% survival. The cultured shoots have been stored for 10 months, at 5°C in darkness without adversely affecting their potentiality for rapid multiplication. The pathway for de novo biosynthesis of purine nucleotides contains two one-carbon transfer reactions catalyzed by glycinamide ribotide (GAR) and 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribotide (AICAR) transformylases in which N10-formyltetrahydrofolate is the one-carbon donor. We have found that the antifolates methotrexate (MTX) and piritrexim (PTX) completely block the de novo purine pathway in mouse L1210 leukemia cells growing in culture but with only minor accumulations of GAR and AICAR to less than 5% of the polyphosphate derivatives of N-formylglycinamide ribotide (FGAR) which accumulate when the pathway is blocked completely by azaserine. This azaserine-induced accumulation of FGAR polyphosphates is completely abolished by MTX, indicating that inhibition of the pathway is at or before GAR transformylase (reaction 3; Lyons, S. D., and Christopherson, R. I. (1991) Biochem. Int. 24, 187-197). Three h after the addition of MTX (0.1 microM), cellular 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate has accumulated 3.4-fold while 6-methyl-mercaptopurine riboside (25 microM) induces a 6.3-fold accumulation. These data suggest that amido phosphoribosyltransferase catalyzing reaction 1 of the pathway is the primary site of inhibition. In support of this conclusion, we have found that dihydrofolate-Glu5, which accumulates in MTX-treated cells, is a noncompetitive inhibitor of amido phosphoribosyltransferase with a dissociation constant of 3.41 +/- 0.08 microM for interaction with the enzyme-glutamine complex in vitro. Folate-Glu5, MTX-Glu5, PTX, dihydrotriazine benzenesulfonyl fluoride, and AICAR also inhibit amido phosphoribosyltransferase. 相似文献

Oligonucleotide aptamers represent a novel platform for creating ligands with desired specificity, and they offer many potentially significant advantages over monoclonal antibodies in terms of feasibility, cost, and clinical applicability. However, the isolation of high-affinity aptamer ligands from random oligonucleotide pools has been challenging. Although high-throughput sequencing (HTS) promises to significantly facilitate systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (SELEX) analysis, the enormous datasets generated in the process pose new challenges for identifying those rare, high-affinity aptamers present in a given pool. We show that emulsion PCR preserves library diversity, preventing the loss of rare high-affinity aptamers that are difficult to amplify. We also demonstrate the importance of using reference targets to eliminate binding candidates with reduced specificity. Using a combination of bioinformatics and functional analyses, we show that the rate of amplification is more predictive than prevalence with respect to binding affinity and that the mutational landscape within a cluster of related aptamers can guide the identification of high-affinity aptamer ligands. Finally, we demonstrate the power of this selection process for identifying cross-species aptamers that can bind human receptors and cross-react with their murine orthologs. 相似文献

Non-innervated macrotrichia and microtrichia, thick-walled chemoreceptors and three kinds of thin-walled chemoreceptors are present on the antennal flagellum of Frenesia missa. One of the thin-walled receptors, the plate organ, is of a type not previously recorded for any insect. Cytoplasmic and salt-extracted wall peroxidase and nonspecific esterase activities along with growth analysis were investigated during the entire period of cotton fiber development. Both the peroxidase fractions, when assayed with chlorogenic and ferulic acids as substrates, recorded low levels during the fiber elongation phase, and a close relationship between cessation of elongation growth and increase in peroxidase activity was discernible. Nonspecific esterase activity in both cytoplasmic and salt-extracted fractions, on the other hand, showed higher activity during the elongation phase, whereas during the secondary thickening phase it decreased. The role of cytoplasmic peroxidase in IAA oxidation is discussed. It is suggested that esterases and peroxidases associated with wall fractions may well be involved in turnover of phenolic acids that are cross-linked to wall polysaccharides. 相似文献

Bakhira Lake is the largest man-made lake of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. It is utilized for Boro (coarse paddy) cultivation, irrigation and fishing by poor village farmers. Hydrographical features, qualitative and quantitative composition of the macro-zoobenthos, and the physico-chemical characteristics of the bottom water and sediment were studied from October 1976 to April 1977. Molluscs, insects, ostracods, annelids, nematodes and crustaceans are the main groups of zoobenthos. Molluscs together with insects dominate the benthic fauna (95.2 to 96.4% of numbers). The benthic density varied from 273 to 517 individuals/m2. Average density of macro-zoobenthos is more or less inversely related to the total alkalinity of the bottom water. Molluscs showed a positive correlation to temperature and a negative correlation to insect density. 相似文献
