The production of butanol from thin stillage by Clostridium pasteurianum DSM 525 was evaluated in the paper. At initial pH values ranging from 5.0 to 7.0 C. pasteurianum DSM 525 produced 6.2-7.2 g/L of butanol utilizing glycerol in thin stillage as the main carbon source, with yields of 0.32-0.44 g butanol produced/g glycerol consumed, which are higher than previously reported yields (e.g., 0.14-0.31 g butanol/g glycerol, Biebl, 2001). Lactic acid in the thin stillage acted as a buffering agent, maintaining the pH of the medium within a range of 5.7-6.1. Lactic acid was also utilized along with glycerol, enhancing butanol production (6.5 g/L butanol vs. 8.7 g/L butanol with 0 and 16 g/L lactic acid, respectively). These results demonstrate the feasibility of cost-effective butanol production using thin stillage as a nutrient-containing medium with a pH buffering capacity.  相似文献

The generation of superoxide anion radical (O2 ·−) in the cytochrome b 6 f complex (Cyt b 6 f) of spinach under high-light illumination was studied using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. The generation of O2 ·− was lost in the absence of molecular oxygen. It was also suppressed in the presence of NaN3 and could be scavenged by extraneous antioxidants such as ascorbate, β-carotene, and glutathione. The results also indicate that O2 ·−, which is produced under high-light illumination of the Cyt b 6 f from spinach, might be generated from a reaction involing 1O2, and the Rieske Fe-S protein could serve as the electron donor in the O2 ·− production. The mechanism of photoprotection of the Cyt b 6 f complex by antioxidants is discussed.  相似文献

以可在黑龙江地区露地越冬的5个现代月季(Rosa chinensis)品种为实验材料,分别以其无菌苗的叶片和茎段为外植体,研究了愈伤组织诱导及植株再生方法。实验结果表明:5个寒地月季品种的叶片和茎段均可诱导出愈伤组织,2,4-D诱导愈伤组织的效果较好,高浓度的细胞分裂素不适合用于月季叶片和茎段愈伤组织的诱导;TDZ在月季愈伤组织分化培养过程中具有重要作用,光照培养可促进月季愈伤组织的分化,愈伤组织的分化能力随着继代次数的增加呈下降趋势。该实验成功地从2004-8和2004-9(2个月季品种)愈伤组织中诱导出再生植株,其愈伤组织的分化率分别为45%和38%。  相似文献

SAR of a novel series of pyridazine-derived γ-secretase modulators is described. Compound 25 was found to be a potent modulator in vitro, which on further profiling, was found to decrease Aβ42 and Aβ40, and maintain the levels of total Aβ. Furthermore, 25 demonstrated excellent pharmacokinetic parameters as well as good CNS penetration in the rat.  相似文献

A series of 4β-(thiazol-2-yl)amino-4′-O-demethyl-4-deoxypodophyllotoxins were synthesized, and their cytotoxicities were evaluated against four human cancer cell lines (A549, HepG2, HeLa, and LOVO cells) and normal human diploid fibroblast line WI-38. Some of the compounds exhibited promising antitumor activity and less toxicity than the anticancer drug etoposide. Among them, compounds 15 and 17 were found to be the most potent synthetic derivatives as topo-II inhibitors, and induced DNA double-strand breaks via the p73/ATM pathway as well as the H2AX phosphorylation in A549 cells. These compounds also arrested A549 cells cycle in G2/M phase by regulating cyclinB1/cdc2(p34). Taken together, these results show that a series of compounds are potential anticancer agents.  相似文献

Ovarian steroids and growth factors are intragonadal modulators which augment a key endpoint of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) action in granulosa cells: the induction of aromatase activity. Studies of these paracrine hormones that enhance FSH-stimulated estrogen biosynthesis by cultured rat granulosa cells, have led to the development of a sensitive and specific bioassay for FSH. This newly developed granulosa cell aromatase bioassay (GAB) allows for the measurement of bioactive FSH levels in serum and urine of humans and animals with various physiological and pathological conditions. These studies have demonstrated that the GAB assay is useful in detecting possible changes in the molecular forms of FSH. The adaptation of this method for urine samples allows for the measurement of bio-FSH levels in situations where venipuncture is not practical or in species for which specific radioimmunoassays are not available.  相似文献

Summary The glial fibrillary acidic (GFA) protein and myosin were localized in rat spinal cord and human frontal cortex using specific antibodies against GFA protein from human spinal cord and highly purified smooth myosin from chicken gizzard by means of an indirect immunofluorescence microscopical approach. A strong GFA protein and myosin immunoreactivity was found in astrocytes of the white and grey matter and in the external glial limitans membrane. The very fine branches of astrocytic processes stained with antiGFA protein, but not with anti-myosin. Similar results were obtained with the human frontal cortex, where myosin antibodies failed to reveal the very fine branches of protoplasmic astrocytes.As a whole, staining with the GFA protein antiserum was more crisp than with the myosin antibody.Thanks are due to Professor J.R. Arabic date is overproduced in Arabic countries such as Saudi Arabia and Iraq and is mostly composed of sugars (70–80 wt%). Here we developed a fed-batch fermentation process by using a kinetic model for the efficient production of lactic acid to a high concentration from Arabic date juice. First, a kinetic model of Lactobacillus rhamnosus grown on date juice in batch fermentation was constructed in EXCEL so that the estimation of parameters and simulation of the model can be easily performed. Then, several fed-batch fermentations were conducted by employing different feeding strategies including pulsed feeding, exponential feeding, and modified exponential feeding. Based on the results of fed-batch fermentations, the kinetic model for fed-batch fermentation was also developed. This new model was used to perform feed-forward controlled fed-batch fermentation, which resulted in the production of 171.79 g l?1 of lactic acid with the productivity and yield of 1.58 and 0.87 g l?1 h?1, respectively.  相似文献
