Comparative analysis of mechanisms of the modification of microorganism viability under the effect of UHF heating and hyperthermia]

In experiments with models of isogenic Escherichia coli strains, a comparative study was made of the effect of SHF of electromagnetic field and hyperthermia. The survival rate of bacteria was determined and, simultaneously, injuries to genetic supramolecular structures were registered through measuring the anomalous time dependence of cell lysate viscosity. The combined effects of the mixture of these factors with H2O2 microconcentrations were studied. The differences observed in their realization were attributed to the different mechanisms of action of these factors on the repair enzyme systems of the studied cells. It has been found that the effect of microwaves on microorganisms causes much severer damages to DNA that hyperthermia does.

It was established in mouse experiments that tofranyl and ftoracizin promote rapid attainment of the maximum level of Li+ in tissues (rather than in blood) after their combined administration with LiCl. Haloperidol and to a less measure triphthazin, aminazin and phenazepam provide for Li+ accumulation in some of the organs at a higher level attainable by administering lithium chloride alone.

Hemopoietic cells including CFUs could be washed off from the organ culture of fetal liver periodically for 4 weeks. Under the cultivation conditions employed this treatment did not reduce the CFUs content of the culture essentially; thus, the washings off could be used to elevate the CFUs yield per culture.     

The effect of anoxia on changes in the phosphoinositide content and bioelectrical activity in the cat cerebral cortex]

The dynamic of the phosphatidylinositol (PI), the phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PIP) and the phosphatidylinositol-4,5-diphosphate (PIP2) contents were studied in the correlation with the neuronal spike activity in cat brain cortex under acute oxygen deficiency caused by cessation of artificial ventilation for 1, 2.5 and 5 min. It was shown that the 1-min anoxia produced the depression of both PIP and PIP2 contents. The depression was followed by the development of the 'asphyxia neuronal activation'. During 2.5 and 5 min of anoxia the decrease of PIP2 content and increase of PIP one were detected against a background of neuronal bioelectrical activity depression. The PI content was constant during all the anoxic period.     

Complications from antibiotic therapy]

Analysis of 302 side effects of antibiotic theraphy is presented. The side effects were studied comparatively as dependent on the antibiotic group. Dependence of the toxic and toxicoallergic reactions to the antibiotics on the antibiotic blood levels were noted. Previous sensitization resulted in more frequent and earlier side effects. The analysis and clinical observations showed that antibiotic therapy should take into account the results of the laboratory tests, i.e. examination of the kidney functional state, antibiotic levels in the blood and urine, tolerance of the drug by the patient.
