Contact interactions of spreading thrombocytes

Contact interactions of rabbit platelets was studied in the course of their spreading over the siliconized glass surface. When the density of cells adhered to the substratum surface is high enough, the platelets are spreading in such a way that their edges are in a close proximity, while the overlapping of cells is very rare and scarcely pronounced. A morphometric analysis of the probability of such an organization of platelets at their random and independent disposition on the substratum proves the existence of a contact inhibition of platelets spreading on the substratum. Thus, a phenomenon of the contact inhibition seems to be a common feature not only of large nucleated cells but also of small anuclear platelets.     

ESR spectra of DNA in the temperature range of 8-300 K

ESR spectra of DNA from different sources were studied in a wide temperature range. In has been shown that the structures like spin-glass exist in DNA samples and these structures manifest an ESR signal at g approximately 2.2 at room temperature, but after cooling in the magnetic field above 0.4 T they give the ESR signal at g approximately 3.0.     

Histoautoradiographic study of thymidine-3H incorporation into the parenchymal nuclei of the kidneys and other organs in rats with nephrotoxic nephritis]

The features of changes in the index of thymidine-3H incorporation into the renal parenchyma in nephrotoxic nephritis are compared to other organs. In the kidneys the index of incorporation inthe epithelial cells of the renal cortex was 7.5-fold and in the brain cortex epithelium 15-fold as increased, respectively. The number of labeled glomerular cells was 2.5-fold as increased. In glomerulonephritis, the index of thymidine-3H incorporation in the epithelium of the adrenals, liver, goiter gland and small intestine lowered within 30-80% from normal.     

Morphology of skeletal muscles after long-term hypokinesia and laser acupuncture

Hypokinesia (Hk) lasting for 150 days has been modelling on Wistar male rats by means of their holding in special boxes. After decapitation in 10, 20, 50, 100 and 150 days the muscles of their extremities have been studied, using stereological methods. At Hk, especially for 50 days, inhibition of morphogenesis of ultrastructures and development of certain pathological processes are noted in the muscles with their preponderance in red fibers. Laser puncture stimulates formation of the ultrastructures responsible for contraction and energy supply and sharply decreases development of the destructive processes in muscle fiber, thus providing a satisfactory endurance of hypokinesia.     

Structural-functional characteristics of the surface of the blood mononucleocytes in children suffering from chronic dermatoses. I. The correction of the glycocalyx structure by UV irradiation of the blood and in the course of treatment with an autotransfusion of UV-irradiated blood

In children suffering from chronic dermatoses (psoriasis and neurodermatitis), the glycocalix of blood mononuclears displays an Alcian blue dye sorption by 23-25% less than that in healthy children. The UV irradiation of their blood (254 nm), in addition to a course of UV-irradiated blood autotransfusion, resulted in an elevated sorption capacity of the mononuclear glycocalix up to the normal. A possible involvement of these changes in immunocompetent cell glycocalix in the pathogenesis of chronic dermatoses is discussed, as well as the significance of glycocalix normalization in the medicinal effect of UV-irradiated blood autotransfusion.
