The aim of this study was to investigate the influences of different stress models on the antioxidant status and lipid peroxidation (LPO) in erythrocytes of rats. Swiss-Albino female rats (3 months old) were used in this study. Rats were randomly divided into the following four groups; control group (C), cold stress group (CS), immobilization stress group (IS) and cold+immobilization stress group (CS+IS). Control group was kept in an animal laboratory (22 ±2°C). Rats in CS group were placed in cold room (5°C) for 15 min/day for 15 days. Rats in IS group were immobilized for 180 min/day for 15 days. Rats in CS+IS group were exposed to both cold and immobilization stresses for 15 days. At the end of experimental periods, the activities of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD), Cu,Zn-superoxide dismutase (Cu,Zn-SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), and concentration of reduced glutathione (GSH) were measured. LPO was determined by measuring the contents of thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS). Cu,Zn-SOD activity and TBARS concentration were increased after cold and immobilization stresses, but CAT and GSH-Px activities and GSH levels were decreased. Immobilization stress decreased the activity of G-6-PD. The activities of G-6-PD, CAT and GSH-Px, and the level of GSH were lower in CS+IS group than in the control group. Cu,Zn-SOD activity and TBARS levels were increased in CS+IS group when compared with the control group. From these findings, three stress models are thought to cause oxidative stress.  相似文献

Heme oxygenase (HO) has been shown to provide cytoprotection to the vascular system in diabetes. Isolated femoral arteries from diabetic rats treated with cobalt protoporphyrin (CoPP) exhibited increased relaxation to acetylcholine (ACh), which was markedly decreased in control diabetic rats. In control rats treated with either CoPP or with CO releasing molecules-3 (CORM-3), but not in rats treated with biliverdin, we observed an increased dilatory response to ACh. The inhibition of guanylyl-cyclase (GC) with 1H-[1,2,4]Oxadiazolo[4,3-a]quinoxalin-1-one (ODQ) caused a contractile response to ACh in control rats and in biliverdin-treated rats, while in rats treated with CoPP and CORM-3, the ACh dilatory effect was only decreased. Moreover, the inhibition of HO with chromium mesoporphyrin did not change the response to ACh in rats treated with CoPP, suggesting that the improving effect of overproduction of CO on vascular reactivity is due to a decrease in iNOS and the beneficial effect on vascular function.  相似文献

In this study, the efficiency of two fishing methods (a) traditional handline commonly used in the Strait of Istanbul and (b) light rock fishing (LRF), which is beginning to spread in recent years, were investigated by monthly sampling between September 2014 and September 2015. One classic handline fishing tackle and one LRF fishing tackle were used in the test fishing exercise. In addition, the effects of the hook sizes (numbers 6, 8 and 10) used in the handline fishery on the size selectivity for horse mackerels were also studied. Catches using both types of fishing gear were mainly composed of Trachurus mediterraneus (89.60%), Scorpeana porcus (5.12%), Sardina pilchardus (1.98%), Atherina boyeri (0.99%), Liza aurata (0.66%), Scorpaena scrofa (0.50%), Pomatomus saltatrix (0.33%), Sprattus sprattus (0.33%) and a few other species. The frequency distributions of horse mackerel caught using handlines and LRF were slightly different and ranged between 6.1–19.0 cm and 9.0–16.0 cm, respectively. Of all the handlines, LRF yielded the highest catch per unit effort (CPUE), 1.295 kg/10 hooks/hour. The log normal model selectivity curve gave the best fit for the T. mediterraneus by using the SELECT method. The modal lengths of horse mackerel caught by handline hook sizes no.10 and no. 8 hook were calculated as 13.4 cm and 17.7 cm, respectively. Zusammenfassung Bei Imagines von Anacridium aegyptium wird nach unilateraler und bilateraler Entfernung der Antennen die Klettergeschwindigkeit, die Lokomotionsgeschwindigkeit bei positiver Phototaxis und die Fluggeschwindigkeit herabgesetzt. Beidseitige Entfernung der Antennen setzt diese Geschwindigkeit stärker herab als einseitige. Die Antennen spielen also ähnlich wie die Ocellen eine stimulierende (dynamogene) Rolle.
Summary Following the removal of a single antenna of imaginal Anacridium aegyptium the speed of positive phototactic movements, of climbing and of flying is reduced. Bilateral removal of the antennae results in further reduction of these speeds. Thus, similar to the ocelli, the antennae also have a stimulating (dynamogenic) function.
