Summary. Milk and blood samples were obtained from three Icelandic dairy herds. The herds were monitored regularly for mastitis incidence. Cell counts, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and antitrypsin levels of the milk samples were recorded. In addition, red cell and BoLA typing were performed on the blood. Although cell counts and ATP levels showed significant associations with mastitis, antitrypsin levels did not. Red blood cell antigens N'2 and S1 and the lymphocyte antigen detected by the monoclonal antibody M7 were associated with low cell counts, whilst BoLA w6 and w6.1 were associated with high cell counts. BoLA w6.2 and w11 showed significant association with high antitrypsin levels. Only ED116 showed a significant association with mastitis. 相似文献

A comparative study of major histocompatibility complex antigens in East African and European cattle breeds 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
An account is given of the serologically defined class I specificities encoded by the bovine MHC (expressed as the BoLA system) in two populations of African cattle and in European breeds. The BoLA typing was performed using alloantisera raised against tissue antigens of both European and African breeds of cattle. All of the specificities agreed in the first two international BoLA workshops were found in the African cattle, although there were significant differences in the frequency of some specificities between the African and European animals. Many of the European antisera, which are operationally monospecific in Bos taurus cattle, were multispecific in the African animals. Subgroups of two specificities (w8 and w10) were demonstrated. Five new BoLA-A locus alleles were detected by means of antisera raised against alloantigens of African cattle. Two of these occurred at an extremely high frequency in the African populations; one being unique to these cattle. Monoclonal antibodies proved to be useful typing reagents, particularly in the elucidation of subgroups. 相似文献

A total of 102 cows was tested for class I antigens of the bovine major histocompatibility complex. Half of the animals (51) had completed at least four lactations without any veterinary treatment for mastitis. The distribution of BoLA-A antigens among these relative mastitis-resistant cows was compared to that in the other half of the material (51), which comprised animals with at least one recorded treatment for mastitis. There were no statistically significant differences in BoLA-A antigen frequency between cows with mastitis and cows without mastitis. The two most common antigens were A2 and w16. The frequency of these two antigens deviated from earlier estimates within the Norwegian cattle (NRF) population, the difference for w16 being statistically significant. 相似文献
