Ca2MgSi2O7:Ce3+, Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ and Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Ce3+ phosphors were prepared using the solid‐state reaction method. The crystal structures of the sintered phosphors were of melilite type, which has a tetragonal crystallography. The chemical compositions of the sintered phosphors was confirmed by energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy. The different thermoluminescence kinetic parameters [activation energy (E), frequency factor (s) and order of the kinetics (b)] of these phosphors were evaluated and compared using the peak shape method. Under ultraviolet excitation, the emission spectra of both Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ and Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Ce3+ phosphors were composed of a broad emission band peaking at 530 nm. When the Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ phosphor is co‐doped with Ce3+ ions, photoluminescence, afterglow and mechanoluminescence intensity was strongly enhanced. Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ showed some afterglow with a short persist time. On incorporation of Ce3+, efficient energy transfer from Ce3+ to Eu2+ was found and the emission intensity of Eu2+ was enhanced. The mechanoluminescence intensities of Ca2MgSi2O7:Ce3+, Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ and Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,Ce3+ phosphors increased proportionally increased with the increase in impact velocity, which suggests that these phosphors can be used as sensors to detect stress in an object. 相似文献

A comprehensive computational framework to simulate heat transfer during the freezing process in prostate cancer cryosurgery is presented. Tissues are treated as nonideal materials wherein phase transition occurs over a temperature range, thermophysical properties are temperature dependent and heating due to blood flow and metabolism are included. Boundary conditions were determined at the surfaces of the commercially available cryoprobes and urethral warmer by experimental study of temperature combined with a mathematical optimization process. For simulations, a suitable computational geometry was designed based on MRI imaging data of a real prostate. An enthalpy formulation-based numerical solution was performed for a prescribed surgical protocol to mimic a clinical freezing process. Isoprene is the most abundant biogenic hydrocarbon released from vegetation and it plays a major role in tropospheric chemistry. Because of its link to climate change, there is interest in understanding the relationship between CO2, water availability and isoprene emission. We explored the effect of atmospheric elevated CO2 concentration and its interaction with vapour pressure deficit (VPD) and water stress, on gross isoprene production (GIP) and net ecosystem exchange of CO2 (NEE) in two Populus deltoides plantations grown at ambient and elevated atmospheric CO2 concentration in the Biosphere 2 Laboratory facility. Although GIP and NEE showed a similar response to light and temperature, their responses to CO2 and VPD were opposite; NEE was stimulated by elevated CO2 and depressed by high VPD, while GIP was inhibited by elevated CO2 and stimulated by high VPD. The difference in response between isoprene production and photosynthesis was also evident during water stress. GIP was stimulated in the short term and declined only when the stress was severe, whereas NEE started to decrease from the beginning of the experiment. This contrasting response led the carbon lost as isoprene in both the ambient and the elevated CO2 treatments to increase as water stress progressed. Our results suggest that water limitation can override the inhibitory effect of elevated CO2 leading to increased global isoprene emissions in a climate change scenario with warmer and drier climate. 相似文献

Recently, it has been shown that l-threonine can be catabolized non-oxidatively to propionate via 2-ketobutyrate. Propionate kinase (TdcD; EC 2.7.2.-) catalyses the last step of this metabolic process by enabling the conversion of propionyl phosphate and ADP to propionate and ATP. To provide insights into the substrate-binding pocket and catalytic mechanism of TdcD, the crystal structures of the enzyme from Salmonella typhimurium in complex with ADP and AMPPNP have been determined to resolutions of 2.2A and 2.3A, respectively, by molecular replacement using Methanosarcina thermophila acetate kinase (MAK; EC 2.7.2.1). Propionate kinase, like acetate kinase, contains a fold with the topology betabetabetaalphabetaalphabetaalpha, identical with that of glycerol kinase, hexokinase, heat shock cognaten 70 (Hsc70) and actin, the superfamily of phosphotransferases. The structure consists of two domains with the active site contained in a cleft at the domain interface. Examination of the active site pocket revealed a plausible structural rationale for the greater specificity of the enzyme towards propionate than acetate. This was further confirmed by kinetic studies with the purified enzyme, which showed about ten times lower K(m) for propionate (2.3 mM) than for acetate (26.9 mM). Comparison of TdcD complex structures with those of acetate and sugar kinase/Hsc70/actin obtained with different ligands has permitted the identification of catalytically essential residues involved in substrate binding and catalysis, and points to both structural and mechanistic similarities. In the well-characterized members of this superfamily, ATP phosphoryl transfer or hydrolysis is coupled to a large conformational change in which the two domains close around the active site cleft. The significant amino acid sequence similarity between TdcD and MAK has facilitated study of domain movement, which indicates that the conformation assumed by the two domains in the nucleotide-bound structure of TdcD may represent an intermediate point in the pathway of domain closure. 相似文献

Two primary biochemical reactions in seed ageing (lipid peroxidation and non-enzymatic protein glycosylation with reducing sugars) have been studied under different seed water contents and storage temperatures, and the role of the glassy state in retarding biochemical deterioration examined. The viability loss of Vigna radiata seeds during storage is associated with Maillard reactions; however, the contribution of primary biochemical reactions varies under different storage conditions. Biochemical deterioration and viability loss are greatly retarded in seeds stored below a high critical temperature (approximately 40 degrees C above glass transition temperature). This high critical temperature corresponds to the cross-over temperature (T(c)) of glass transition where molecular dynamics changes from a solid-like system to a normal liquid system. The data show that seed ageing slows down significantly, even before seed tissue enters into the glassy state. 相似文献

Real-time kinetics of ligand-ligate interaction has predominantly been studied by either fluorescence or surface plasmon resonance based methods. Almost all such studies are based on association between the ligand and the ligate. This paper reports our analysis of dissociation data of monoclonal antibody-antigen (hCG) system using radio-iodinated hCG as a probe and nitrocellulose as a solid support to immobilize mAb. The data was analyzed quantitatively for a one-step and a two-step model. The data fits well into the two-step model. We also found that a fraction of what is bound is non-dissociable (tight-binding portion (TBP)). The TBP was neither an artifact of immobilization nor does it interfere with analysis. It was present when the reaction was carried out in homogeneous solution in liquid phase. The rate constants obtained from the two methods were comparable. The work reported here shows that real-time kinetics of other ligand-ligate interaction can be studied using nitrocellulose as a solid support. 相似文献
