Human insulin-like growth factor-I (hIGF-I) is a growth factor which is highly resemble to insulin. It is essential for cell
proliferation and has been proposed for treatment of various endocrine-associated diseases including growth hormone insensitivity
syndrome and diabetes mellitus. In the present study, an efficient plant expression system was developed to produce biologically
active recombinant hIGF-I (rhIGF-I) in transgenic rice grains. 相似文献
The linear and nonlinear propagation of ultrarelativistic and nonrelativistic analysis on modified ion-acoustic (MIA) waves in a strongly coupled unmagnetized collisionless relativistic space plasma system is carried out. Plasma system is assumed to contain strongly coupled nonrelativistic ion fluids, both nonrelativistic and ultrarelativistic degenerate electron and positron fluids, and positively charged static heavy elements. The restoring force is provided by the degenerate pressure of the electron and positron fluids, whereas the inertia is provided by the mass of ions. The positively charged static heavy elements participate only in maintaining the quasineutrality condition at equilibrium. The well-known reductive perturbation method is used to derive the Burgers and Korteweg–de Vries equations. Their shock and solitary wave solutions are numerically analyzed to understand the localized electrostatic disturbances. The basic characteristics of MIA shock and solitary waves are found to be significantly modified by the effects of degenerate pressures of electron, positron, and ion fluids, their number densities, and various charge state of heavy elements. The implications of our results to dense plasmas in compact astrophysical objects (e.g., nonrotating white dwarfs, neutron stars, etc.) are briefly discussed. 相似文献
Analysis of heart rate variation (HRV) has become a popular noninvasive tool for assessing the activities of the autonomic
nervous system (ANS). HRV analysis is based on the concept that fast fluctuations may specifically reflect changes of sympathetic
and vagal activity. It shows that the structure generating the signal is not simply linear, but also involves nonlinear contributions.
These signals are essentially non-stationary; may contain indicators of current disease, or even warnings about impending
diseases. The indicators may be present at all times or may occur at random in the time scale. However, to study and pinpoint
abnormalities in voluminous data collected over several hours is strenuous and time consuming. 相似文献
Calponin is an actin filament-associated regulatory protein, and its h2 isoform is expressed in lung alveolar epithelial cells under postnatal upregulation during lung development corresponding to the commencement of respiratory expansion. Consistent with this correlation to mechanical tension, the expression of h2-calponin in alveolar cells is dependent on substrate stiffness and cytoskeleton tension. The function of h2-calponin in the stability of actin cytoskeleton implicates a role in balancing the strength and compliance of alveoli. An interesting finding is a rapid degradation of h2-calponin in lung after prolonged deflation, which is prevented by inflation of the lung to the in situ expanded volume. Decreasing mechanical tension in cultured alveolar cells by reducing the dimension of culture matrix reproduced the degradation of h2-calponin. Inhibition of myosin II ATPase also resulted in the degradation of h2-calponin in alveolar cells, showing a determining role of the tension in the actin cytoskeleton. Alveolar cells statically cultured on silicon rubber membrane build high tension in the cytoskeleton corresponding to a high expression of h2-calponin. Chronic cyclic stretching of cells on the membrane did not increase but decreased the expression of h2-calponin. This finding suggests that when cellular structure adapts to the stretched dimension, cyclic relaxations periodically release cytoskeleton tension and lower the total amount of tension that the cell senses over time. Therefore, the isometric tension, other than tension dynamics, determines the expression of h2-calponin. The tension regulation of h2-calponin synthesis and degradation demonstrates a novel mechanical regulation of cellular biochemistry. 相似文献
Choricotyle australiensis Roubal, Armitage & Rohde, 1983, a diclidophorid monogenean species, is redescribed and genetically characterised using the partial nuclear 28S ribosomal RNA gene (28S rRNA) and a fragment of mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1) gene sequences for specimens collected from Chrysophrys auratus (Forster) off Australia and New Zealand. Previous studies have either provided morphological or genetic results, whereas this study combines morphological and advanced molecular methods. A total of 70 Ch. auratus were examined with 22 individuals of C. australiensis recovered from the gills (overall prevalence of 23%). This study has provided the first evidence for the exploration of mitochondrial cox1 region for C. australiensis. Comparison of the newly generated sequences with other available data supported the distinction of C. australiensis among diclidophorid Furhmann, 1928 species thus confirming its taxonomic status.
Salinity intrusion in the coastal freshwater rivers due to climate change and construction of the dam in the upstream rivers are alarming in aquaculture. Hence, an experiment was conducted to know the effects of salinity on growth performance, hemato‐biochemical parameters and erythrocytes structure in a commercially cultivable catfish species, striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus). Firstly, median lethal concentration (LC50) of salinity for striped catfish was determined and then the fish were exposed to three salinity conditions (4, 8 and 12‰) and a control (0‰). Fish were sacrificed at day 7, 14, 28 and 56 after the start of salinity exposure. The 96 hr LC50 value was found to be 14.87‰. Salinity levels from freshwater to 8‰ showed optimal conditions with high survival rate and good growth performances of fish in terms of weight gain and specific growth rate (SGR). Interestingly, the lowest food conversion ratio (FCR) was found in 4‰ group. The hemoglobin (Hb) level and number of red blood cells (RBCs) were found to be decreased significantly in 8 and 12‰ compared to 0 and 4‰ at the initial days of exposure, while number of white blood cells (WBCs) and glucose level showed opposite scenario. Frequencies of ENA (erythrocytic nuclear abnormalities) and ECA (erythrocytic cellular abnormalities) were significantly increased with increasing salinities in the initial days of exposure. Overall, findings of the present study revealed that striped catfish might be suitable fish species for culture in the brackish water containing salinity up to 10‰. 相似文献
A wavelet-decomposition with soft decision algorithm is used to estimate an approximate power spectral density (PSD) of R–R intervals (RRI) of ECG data for the purpose of screening of congestive heart failure (CHF) from normal subjects. The ratio of the power in the low-frequency (LF) band to the power in the high-frequency (HF) band of the RRI signal is used as the classification factor. The trial data used for estimating of the classification factor consist of 15 CHF (patient) subjects and 12 normal sinus rhythm (NSR) or simply normal subjects. The performance of the algorithm is then evaluated on test data set, which consists of 17 CHF subjects and 53 NSR subjects. Both trial and test data are drawn from MIT database. The receiver operating characteristics (ROC) is used to determine the threshold value of the classification factor. Results are shown for different wavelets filters. The new technique shows a classification efficiency of 96.30% on trial data and 88.57% on test data. An FFT-based frequency domain screening technique is also implemented and included in this work for the purpose of comparison with the wavelet-based technique. The FFT-based technique shows an efficiency of classification of 99.63% on trial data and 81.42% on test data. The comparison is also done on short-term (5-min) recordings. The wavelet-based soft-decision technique shows also better results than the FFT-based technique. 相似文献
The structural plasticity of dendritic spines plays a critical role in NMDA-induced long-term potentiation (LTP) in the brain. The small GTPases RhoA and Ras are considered key regulators of spine morphology and enlargement. However, the regulatory interaction between RhoA and Ras underlying NMDA-induced spine enlargement is largely unknown. In this study, we found that Rho-kinase/ROCK, an effector of RhoA, phosphorylated SynGAP1 (a synaptic Ras-GTPase activating protein) at Ser842 and increased its interaction with 14-3-3ζ, thereby activating Ras-ERK signaling in a reconstitution system in HeLa cells. We also found that the stimulation of NMDA receptor by glycine treatment for LTP induction stimulated SynGAP1 phosphorylation, Ras-ERK activation, spine enlargement and SynGAP1 delocalization from the spines in striatal neurons, and these effects were prevented by Rho-kinase inhibition. Rho-kinase-mediated phosphorylation of SynGAP1 appeared to increase its dissociation from PSD95, a postsynaptic scaffolding protein located at postsynaptic density, by forming a complex with 14-3-3ζ. These results suggest that Rho-kinase phosphorylates SynGAP1 at Ser842, thereby activating the Ras-ERK pathway for NMDA-induced morphological changes in dendritic spines.
