The Golgi Apparatus of Tetrahymena Thermophila   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
ABSTRACT. Electron microsocpic investigations reveal that the Golgi apparatus of Tetrahymena thermophila consists of numerous tiny dictyosomes, each consisting of one or two cisternae. the dictyosomes are localized predominantly in the cell cortex closely associated with the mitochondria, arranged in meridians alternating with the ciliary meridians. We estimated about 300-400 of these dictyosomes in the periphery of a cell, a value corresponding to the number of somatic cilia per cell. Cytochemical assays of thiamine pyrophosphatase and acid phosphatase, both marker enzymes of trans Golgi cisternae, resulted in deposits of lead or cerium phosphate in the outermost cisternae of the dictyosomes. In addition, cisternae located at the bases of the basal body/parasomal sac arrangements are stained. This indicates that these cisternae may belong to the Golgi apparatus of the cell.  相似文献

The frogmouth taxon occurring on the Solomon Islands has been known as Podargus ocellatus inexpectatus , a subspecies endemic to four islands in the Solomon Islands of a species that also inhabits New Guinea and Australia. Our morphological, osteological and molecular studies support recognition of inexpectatus at the species level, and further reveal that it merits placement in its own genus, which we describe here. Compared with the two other extant podargid genera, inexpectatus does not seem to be more closely related either to Batrachostomus (confined to the Indo-Malayan faunal region) or to Podargus of the Papuan–Australian faunal region. We also review the specimen history of the Solomon Islands Frogmouth, and discuss what little is known about its ecology, natural history and distribution.  相似文献

Hybrid zones are often characterized by narrow, coincident clines for diverse traits, suggesting that little introgression occurs across them. However, this pattern may result from a bias in focussing on traits that are diagnostic of parental populations. Such choice of highly differentiated traits may cause us to overlook differential introgression in nondiagnostic traits and to distort our perception of hybrid zones. We tested this hypothesis in an avian hybrid zone by comparing cline structure in two sets of molecular markers: isozyme and restriction fragment length polymorphism markers chosen for differentiation between parental forms, and microsatellite markers chosen for polymorphism. Two cline‐fitting methods showed that cline centre positions of microsatellite alleles were more variable than those of isozyme and restriction fragment length polymorphism markers, and several were significantly shifted from those of the diagnostic markers. Cline widths of microsatellite alleles were also variable and two‐ to eightfold wider than those of the diagnostic markers. These patterns are consistent with the idea that markers chosen for differentiation are more likely to be under purifying selection, and studies focussed on these markers will underestimate overall introgression across hybrid zones. Our results suggest that neutral and positively selected alleles may introgress freely across many hybrid zones without altering perceived boundaries between hybridizing forms.  相似文献

We developed primers for eight polymorphic microsatellite loci in the endangered common hamster (Cricetus cricetus L.). Population genetic parameters were analysed on the basis of 70 adult individuals captured from a single population. Allele numbers per locus ranged from eight to 17. Expected and observed heterozygosities per locus ranged from 0.67 to 0.91 and from 0.41 to 0.8, respectively.  相似文献

Bark samples were removed from 1-year-old stems of Italian prune trees at intervals throughout the growing season (June–August). Glucose, fructose, sucrose, traces of raffinose and a polyol were detected in ethanolic extracts of the bark. The polyol was isolated and shown to be d-glucitol. The use of insoluble polyvinylpyrrolidone proved to be the best method for decolorizing bark extracts prior to quantitative analysis of ethanol-soluble carbohydrates by paper chromato-graphic methods. Glucitol was the major carbohydrate in the bark throughout the season. Sucrose was the major sugar, decreasing gradually as the season advanced. Fructose and glucose were found in lesser and about equal amounts. The amount of glucitol, glucose and fructose was high in June, decreased to a minimum in mid-July, increased sharply in late July and early August and decreased later in the season.  相似文献

The ophiuroid fauna of La Réunion, Indian Ocean, is still incompletely known. We report 13 different species from coral reefs, including five new records and a probably undescribed species of Amphioplus , which increases the number of ophiuroids known from La Réunion to 25. The most important find consists of three individuals of a previously unknown representative of the genus Ophiocanops . Originally placed in Ophiomyxidae, its systematic position has long been debated, with some authors advocating a placement with the otherwise extinct Palaeozoic Oegophiurida, based on the absence of several skeletal characters. The new species, O. multispina sp. nov. , shows intermediate characters between its previously only known congener, O. fugiens , and the ophiomyxid Renetheo felli . The three species appear to represent a line of taxa with progressively reduced skeleton instead of an ancient condition. We propose to transfer Ophiocanops back to the Ophiomyxidae, to synonymize Renetheo with Ophiocanops , and to invalidate the Ophiocanopidae, for which there is no autapomorphy-based support. © 2008 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society , 2008, 153 , 545–560.  相似文献
