As revealed in earlier studies, the antinocifensive effect of morphine is brought about, among other things, with involvement of serotoninergic transmission mechanisms. In this context the role of the serotoninergic raphe-hippocampus system has been studied in this paper. Topical microinjections of serotonin into the dorsal hippocampus increased morphine analgesia in a dose-dependent fashion, while application into the striatum had no effect. Morphine injections into the median raphe nucleus in relatively low doses exert an antinocifensive effect which is inhibitable by methysergide. Lysergic acid diethylamide administered into the median raphe nucleus also abolished the effect of morphine in a dose-dependent manner. The results in connection with literature data lend support to the presumed integrative function of the serotoninergic raphe-hippocampus system in the mechanism of antinocifensive action of morphine.  相似文献

Critical incidents adapted to presentation in picture form were used to investigate responses of Aboriginal adolescents from Elcho Island mission in the Northern Territory of Australia in conflict situations arising from culture contact. These Aboriginal youths are part of a complex environment where choice behaviour is mediated by specific and broader situational characteristics of the social environment. Results showed a relationship between conflict responses and orientation to traditional values and skills, but no apparent relationship between conflict responses and modern value orientation or psychopathology variables. Adolescents who attended high school in Darwin were seen as more mission and academically oriented than locally educated youth. Contrary to expected patterns, males appeared to be less involved in both mission and traditional activities and more restricted by traditional social expectations than were females.  相似文献

Introduction into the structure of the linear hexapeptide DSLET (Tyr-D-Ser-Gly-Phe-Leu-Thr) or DTLET (Tyr-D-Thr-Gly-Phe-Leu-Thr) of tert-butyl groups as constraints different from cyclization leads to a large increase in the selectivity for delta opioid binding site in the case of DSTBULET [Tyr-D-Ser-(OtBu)-Gly-Phe-Leu-Thr] (Ki delta = 6.14 nM; Ki mu = 374 nM) and BUBU [Tyr-D-Ser(OtBu)-Gly-Phe-Leu-Thr(OtBu)] (Ki delta = 4.68 nM; Ki mu = 475 nM) or a loss of affinity for DTTBULET [Tyr-D-Thr(OtBu)-Gly-Phe-Leu-Thr] (Ki delta = 866 nM; Ki mu = 4500 nM). This puzzling behavior is studied here by 400-MHz 1H NMR spectroscopy in DMSO-d6 solution and by theoretical calculations. When DSLET and DTLET are compared, the reduction in energetically accessible phi and psi angles induced by the tert-butyl group in the D-Ser2 residue decreases the degree of freedom in the N-terminal part of the peptides. For DSTBULET and BUBU, the rigidification of the backbone evidenced by the appearance of the large NOE's of Phe4 NH-Gly3 alpha and Gly3 NH-alpha and by the loss of the C7 folding around the D-Ser2 residue found in DSLET could explain the drastic loss of affinity for mu opioid receptors. First functional events during peroxidation in mitochondria consisted in a progressive inhibition of the phosphorylating and uncoupled respiration with succinate and glutamate/malate as substrates, whereas the resting state respiration during the same period was virtually not influenced. The membrane potential registered at a time with the respiration rates was capable of being built up for a relatively long time interval with only minor decreases, and broke down rather promptly when the active respiration was highly diminished. Inhibition of respiration proceeded mainly during the initiation phase of peroxidation. Lag phases of varied length, of malondialdehyde formation which were predominantly attributed to the iron/protein ratios correlated closely with different time intervals needed to attain maximal inhibition of respiration and decrease in glutathione. Hence, the lessening of respiration, drop of membrane potential and loss of the antioxidant, glutathione, represent early stages in the causal chain of events which precede the onset of intensive lipid peroxidation.  相似文献

A reliable method was developed for the quantitative determination of two nuclear polyhcdrosis viruses present in commercially prepared viral insecticides used against Orgyia pseudotsugata. Deoxyribonucleic acids, from nuclear polyhedrosis bundle virus and nuclear polyhedrosis single-rod virus, were separated on CsCl gradients according to their respective buoyant densities, 1.715 and 1.704 g/ml. The proportions of the two viruses were quantified by measuring the relative absorbance at 254 nm of their deoxyribonucleic acid peaks.  相似文献

Various aspects of the breeding of three gulls, Larus thayeri, glaucoides and hyperboreus, which nested in colonies both on cliff ledges and on level ground in the eastern Canadian Arctic, were compared with those of the ground-nesting L. argentatus and the cliff-nesting Rissa tridactyla. As the result of adaptation to cliff ledge nesting, many aspects of the breeding biology of R. tridactyla were strikingly different from those of the ground-nesting European L. argentatus, but the behaviour of L. thayeri, glaucoides and hyperboreus clearly spanned these differences. Cliff-nesting individuals of thayeri and glaucoides were most like Rissa; ground-nesting individuals of these species were most like argentatus. L. thayeri was more like Rissa than was glaucoides. With but few exceptions, both cliff- and ground-nesting individuals of hyperboreus were most like argentatus. The factors responsible for the intra-specific differences between cliff- and ground-nesters of thayeri and glaucoides are not clear. Limited gene exchange between cliff and ground colonies occurs. Because of physical features of the nest, first-laid eggs were more liable to fall from ledges than second or third eggs. L. thayeri and glaucoides have evolved separate mechanisms to cope with this problem. Egg shape was multimodal in thayeri and glaucoides. Long pyriform eggs were less liable to fall from ledges than eggs of other shapes. L. thayeri laid more long pyriform eggs as first eggs than did glaucoides. L. thayeri lost fewer eggs than did glaucoides, but glaucoides replaced all lost eggs while thayeri did not. Delayed follicular atresia provided glaucoides with insurance of egg replacement. In thayeri, accessory follicles were reabsorbed after the first egg was laid; in argentatus, after the second egg, and in glaucoides after the third egg. At the approach of a predator, it was advantageous for cliff-dwelling chicks to remain motionless but for ground-dwelling chicks to flee their nests and to hide. Among the cliff-nesters, the “freezing in place” reaction of chicks was best developed in thayeri, to a lesser extent in glaucoides, and least in hyperboreus. Among the ground-nesters, chicks of glaucoides and hyperboreus behaved like those of argentatus and fled their nests when disturbed, but chicks of thayeri froze like their cliff-dwelling siblings. Reciprocal transfers of eggs and chicks between cliff and ground colonies indicated that in argentatus, glaucoides and hyperboreus, the factors determining a chick's reaction to disturbance came into play between hatching and the eighth day. In thayeri, the reaction appeared to be effectively innate. Chicks of glaucoides showed a greater predisposition to this behaviour than chicks of argentatus after both had received identical experience on cliff ledges. In thayeri, stereotypy of the freezing reaction has probably been a factor limiting the colonisation of areas where cliffs are scarce but predators present. In argentatus, lack of perfection of this behaviour (compared to glaucoides and thayeri) has probably been a factor preventing argentatus from attaining cliff ledges. L. hyperboreus, although nowhere abundant, is a widespread species nesting on level ground and on cliff ledges but lacking the modifications observed in glaucoides and thayeri; this is due to its size and aggressiveness, the fact that it picks nest-sites before glaucoides and thayeri arrive in the colonies, and that on cliffs it chooses the largest and most level ledges.  相似文献
