1. Thirty-seven pairs of mesothoracic interneurons respond selectively to visual or ocellar stimuli corresponding to deviations from course in flight, expressed as angular rotation around the three spatial axes. 2. Sensitivities to roll and yaw are very strongly associated. All interneurons showing a directional preference for yaw rotations showed the same preference for roll rotations. A few roll-sensitive cells were not directionally sensitive to yaw. Some interneurons respond exclusively to pitch rotations, most to both pitch and roll/yaw. 3. Approximately equal numbers of interneurons prefer pitch up, pitch down, roll/yaw to the ipsilateral side and roll/yaw to the contralateral side. All four possible combinations of pitch (up or down) with roll/yaw (ipsilateral or contralateral) preferences occur with equal probability. 4. No relationship between neuronal structure and directional properties could be discerned. 5. The average latency of the ocellar EPSPs recorded in the interneurons is not significantly different from the average latency of the ocellar spike in the descending neurons (at the same temperature and in the same ganglion). The average ocellar IPSP latency is 8.5 ms longer. The data support the hypothesis that most EPSPs are derived from monosynaptic inputs from the DNs, and most IPSPs from polysynaptic inputs. A few EPSPs are also derived from polysynaptic inputs. 6. Most of these neurons are sensitive to wind, at least some directionally so, in a manner functionally compatible with their visual or ocellar directionality, and most are excited. Two neurons respond to movement of small objects in the visual field, and 5 to high frequency sound.  相似文献

Intracavernous injection of 20 μg of prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) was carried out in 130 impotent patients. The erectile response was compared to the results of arteriological investigations including nocturnal penile tumescence and rigidity monitoring (NPTR) in 59 patients. The response of 60 patients positively categorized as exclusively psychogenic or vasculogenic was also compared to the pattern of the response to 80 mg of papaverine observed in a previous study by the same authors. The PGE1 test may not discriminate psychogenic from wholly organic patients since its results are not correlated to those of NPTR. It helps for the screening of vasculogenic impotence. Lack of response or a partly rigid response is consistent with this actiology but is not specific for it. A fully response makes it unlikely. Compared to papaverine, PGE1 induces less non rigid responses in psychogenic patients (15% versus 35% with papaverine) and more fully rigid responses in vasculogenic patients (respectively 12% and 5 %). Consequently the specificity of the PGE1 test is higher but its sensitivity lower than that of papaverine so that there is no clear difference in the effectiveness of the tests. Nevertheless the PGE1 test should be preferred, because it is safer. Prolonged erections occured in only 5 patients, and all ceased spontaneously. However 4 presented severely painful erections.  相似文献

Thioredoxin has been purified to homogeneity from the cyanobacterium Anabaena cylindrica. The protein consists of a single polypeptide chain with a relative molecular mass of about 11 680 which has two cysteine residues (residues 31 and 34) in the sequence-Cys-Gly-Pro-Cys- and an isoelectric point at pH 4.55. The N-terminal amino acid sequence of 39 residues shows distinct homologies with the sequences of Escherichia coli and Corynebacterium nephridii thioredoxins. Anti-(A. cylindrica thioredoxin) antiserum was used to quantify the thioredoxin which constituted about 0.22% of the soluble protein in cell-free extracts of N2-fixing, NO3- -grown or NH4+-grown A. cylindrica. Activation of fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase of A. cylindrica, activation of glutamine synthetase and NADP+-dependent malate dehydrogenase of the green alga Scenedesmus obliquus but not of A. cylindrica, and deactivation of glucose-6-P dehydrogenase of the cyanobacterium Anabaena variabilis were all achieved using the same thioredoxin species. No other thioredoxin species were detected in extracts of A. cylindrica when examined for the activation of these enzymes.  相似文献

Nicotine was administered acutely and subchronically (14 days) to determine whether various synaptic mechanisms are selectively altered in the nigrostriatal and mesolimbic dopaminergic systems in the rat. When added to tissue preparations in vitro, nicotine had no effects on tyrosine hydroxylase, synaptosomal uptake of [3H]dopamine or binding of [3H]spiperone to D2 receptors in either system. However, acute treatment in vivo stimulated tyrosine hydroxylase activity in the nucleus accumbens. This effect was prevented by pretreatment with a nicotinic antagonist, suggesting that it was mediated by nicotinic receptors. Since subchronic exposure to nicotine had no effect on tyrosine hydroxylase, it appears that tolerance develops to this action. In vivo treatment with nicotine did not alter dopamine uptake or receptor binding. The results suggest that, in doses which result in moderate plasma levels, nicotine has selective stimulant actions on nerve terminals of the mesolimbic system.  相似文献

The overall scheme for control is as follows: central command sets basic patterns of cardiovascular effector activity, which is modulated via muscle chemo- and mechanoreflexes and arterial mechanoreflexes (baroreflexes) as appropriate error signals develop. A key question is whether the primary error corrected is a mismatch between blood flow and metabolism (a flow error that accumulates muscle metabolites that activate group III and IV chemosensitive muscle afferents) or a mismatch between cardiac output (CO) and vascular conductance [a blood pressure (BP) error] that activates the arterial baroreflex and raises BP. Reduction in muscle blood flow to a threshold for the muscle chemoreflex raises muscle metabolite concentration and reflexly raises BP by activating chemosensitive muscle afferents. In isometric exercise, sympathetic nervous activity (SNA) is increased mainly by muscle chemoreflex whereas central command raises heart rate (HR) and CO by vagal withdrawal. Cardiovascular control changes for dynamic exercise with large muscles. At exercise onset, central command increases HR by vagal withdrawal and "resets" the baroreflex to a higher BP. As long as vagal withdrawal can raise HR and CO rapidly so that BP rises quickly to its higher operating point, there is no mismatch between CO and vascular conductance (no BP error) and SNA does not increase. Increased SNA occurs at whatever HR (depending on species) exceeds the range of vagal withdrawal; the additional sympathetically mediated rise in CO needed to raise BP to its new operating point is slower and leads to a BP error. Sympathetic vasoconstriction is needed to complete the rise in BP. The baroreflex is essential for BP elevation at onset of exercise and for BP stabilization during mild exercise (subthreshold for chemoreflex), and it can oppose or magnify the chemoreflex when it is activated at higher work rates. Ultimately, when vascular conductance exceeds cardiac pumping capacity in the most severe exercise both chemoreflex and baroreflex must maintain BP by vasoconstricting active muscle.  相似文献
