Cryptosporidium is a ubiquitous enteropathogen protozoan infection affecting livestock worldwide. The present study was carried out to determine the prevalence of Cryptosporidium infection in different age groups of dromedary camels in northwestern Iran from November 2009 to July 2010. A total number of 170 fecal samples were collected and examined using modified Ziehl-Neelsen (MZN) staining under light microscope. Examination of stained fecal smears revealed that 17 camels (10%) were positive for Cryptosporidium-like. The prevalence of Cryptosporidium-like was significantly higher in camel calves (< 1 years old) (20%) than other age groups, in which the diarrhoeic calves had the prevalence of 16%. In adult camels the prevalence was 6.5%. There was no significant difference in the prevalence of Cryptosporidium-like between male and female camels. It is concluded that Cryptosporidium infection is a problem in camel husbandry and could be of public health concern in the region. 相似文献

Using first principle calculations, we investigated cation-π interactions between alkali cations (Li(+), Na(+), and K(+)) and pristine C(24) or doped fullerenes of BC(23), and NC(23). The most suitable adsorption site is found to be atop the center of a six-membered ring of the exterior surface of C(24) molecule. Interaction energies of these cations decreased in the order: Li(+)?>?Na(+)?>?K(+), with values of -31.82, -22.36, and -15.68 kcal mol(-1), respectively. It was shown that the interaction energies are increased and decreased by impurity doping of B and N atoms in adjacent wall of adsorption site, depending on electron donating or receptivity of the doping atoms. 相似文献

In order to evaluate biological potential of a novel synthesized complex [Nd(dmp)2Cl3.OH2] where dmp is 29-dimethyl 110-phenanthroline, the DNA-binding, cleavage, BSA binding, and antimicrobial activity properties of the complex are investigated by multispectroscopic techniques study in physiological buffer (pH 7.2).The intrinsic binding constant (Kb) for interaction of Nd(III) complex and FS–DNA is calculated by UV–Vis (Kb = 2.7 ± 0.07 × 105) and fluorescence spectroscopy (Kb = 1.13 ± 0.03 × 105). The Stern–Volmer constant (KSV), thermodynamic parameters including free energy change (ΔG°), enthalpy change (?H°), and entropy change (?S°), are calculated by fluorescent data and Vant’ Hoff equation. The experimental results show that the complex can bind to FS–DNA and the major binding mode is groove binding. Meanwhile, the interaction of Nd(III) complex with protein, bovine serum albumin (BSA), has also been studied by using absorption and emission spectroscopic tools. The experimental results show that the complex exhibits good binding propensity to BSA. The positive ΔH° and ?S° values indicate that the hydrophobic interaction is main force in the binding of the Nd(III) complex to BSA, and the complex can quench the intrinsic fluorescence of BSA remarkably through a static quenching process. Also, DNA cleavage was investigated by agarose gel electrophoresis that according to the results cleavage of DNA increased with increasing of concentration of the complex. Antimicrobial screening test gives good results in the presence of Nd(III) complex system. 相似文献

In the present research, the binding properties of diazinon (DZN), as an organophosphorus herbicide, to human serum albumin (HSA) were investigated using combination of spectroscopic, electrochemistry, and molecular modeling techniques. Changes in the UV–Vis and FT-IR spectra were observed upon ligand binding along with a significant degree of tryptophan fluorescence quenching on complex formation. The obtained results from spectroscopic and electrochemistry experiments along with the computational studies suggest that DZN binds to residues located in subdomains IIA of HSA with binding constant about 1410.9 M?1 at 300 K. From the thermodynamic parameters calculated according to the van’t Hoff equation, the enthalpy change ΔH° and entropy change ΔS° were found to be ?16.695 and 0.116 KJ/mol K, respectively. The primary binding pattern is determined by hydrophobic interaction and hydrogen binding occurring in so-called site I of HSA. DZN could slightly alter the secondary structure of HSA. All of experimental results are supported by computational techniques such as docking and molecular dynamics simulation using a HSA crystal model. 相似文献

In this study, the concentrations of heavy metal (Cd, Pb, Fe, and Ni) in contaminated soils adjacent to two steel mill companies and in three crops (i.e., wheat, rice, and onion) grown in these regions were compared with a non-industrial site in Isfahan province, central Iran. The results were manifold. The heavy metal concentrations of both the soil and crops within the two industrial regions turned out to be more significant than the nonindustrial counterpart. In addition, the soils surrounding the companies were demonstrated to be contaminated by Cd, Pb, and Ni according to the limits provided by the international standards (i.e., USEPA and European Union standards). As for the crops from the investigated contaminated sites, the mean concentrations of Cd, Ni, and Pb exceeded the maximum permissible levels for human consumption stipulated by FAO/WHO standards. Furthermore, the values gained from the target hazard quotient were above one, meaning that the crops are contaminated. Given the results gained from a comparison made between estimated daily intake and tolerable daily intake, it can be concluded that the inhabitants of the two investigated contaminated sites are at a potentially serious health risk caused by exposure to the crops contaminated with the heavy metal. 相似文献
