The pattern of callose formation in meiotic cell walls and the order of megaspore degeneration and polarity during embryo sac development are investigated in F2-plants ofOe. hookeri ×suaveolens and the reciprocal cross. All investigated characters are variable between the ovules in the same ovary. Plants differ in the frequency of the types of callose pattern and polarity of the embryo sacs. In segregating progenies different combinations of both characters are found. The genetic basis of the polarity phenomena during the embryo sac development is discussed. In our material no correlation can be seen between the callose pattern in the surrounding wall of the meiotic cell and the development of polarity in the later stages.  相似文献

Summary This study attempted to define reciprocal positions of cell types within the thymus. Random or non-random contacts between specific cell types were analyzed by means of graph theory. For analysis, thymus blocks were sectioned serially and, then, thymus cells were categorized into types, based on morphological criteria. The distribution of individual cell types within the cortex, cortico-medullary zone and medulla was presented in form of a map. In the analysis, three types of epithelial cell, characteristic of each thymus zone, macrophages, Langerhans-like cells and lymphocytes were found in non-random relations to one another. Moreover, characteristic groups of cells associated with one another were also demonstrated.This study was supported by the Polish Academy of Sciences  相似文献

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) and remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. In the host's immune response system, T cells play a critical role in mediating protection against Mtb infection, but the role of CD8+ T cells is still controversial. We evaluated the phenotypical characterization and cytotoxic ability of CD8+ T cells by flow cytometry‐based assay. Cytokine levels in serum were measured by multiplex cytokine assay. Our data show that cells from TB patients have an increased percentage of peripheral blood CD8+αβ+ T (p = 0.02) and CD56+CD8+ T (p = 0.02) and a decreased frequency of NKG2D+CD8+ T (p = 0.02) compared with healthy donors. Unlike CD8+ T cells from healthy donors, CD8+ T cells from TB patients exhibit greater cytotoxicity, mediated by HLA class I molecules, on autologous monocytes in the presence of mycobacterial antigens (p = 0.005). Finally, TB patients have a proinflammatory profile characterized by serum high level of TNF‐α (p = 0.02) and IL‐8 (p = 0.0001), but, interestingly, IL‐4 (p = 0.002) was also increased compared with healthy donors. Our data show evidence regarding the highly cytotoxic status of CD8+ T cells in Mtb infection. These cytotoxic cells restricted to HLA‐A, B, and C could be used to optimize strategies for designing new TB vaccines or for identifying markers of disease progression.  相似文献

Little is known about the digestive tube (DT) morphology of the fish Pterodoras granulosus. Therefore, macro‐, meso‐ and microscopic aspects of 15 P. granulosus DTs were analysed. The muscular layer was composed of striated skeletal muscle in the oesophagus and smooth muscle in the other segments. The epithelium progressed from a stratified pavement in the oesophagus to a simple column in the other segments, with a flat striated border in the intestine. A large number of mucus‐secreting periodic acid‐Schiff (PAS)‐positive cells were observed in the oesophagus. In the stomach, the number of glands in the region decreased towards the cardiac–fundic region, and none were found in the pylorus. The intestine showed an epithelium with absorption cells and an increasing number of PAS‐positive caliciform cells towards the distal region. Tests showed that the oesophagus is adapted for passing and preparing food for the chemical digestion that occurs in the stomach, which also has storage functions without grinding action. The proximal intestinal region was consistent with fat absorption, and the medium region, with the absorption of other nutrients. The distal region was short and consistent with a role in absorption for osmoregulation as well as in the formation, storage and disposal of faeces.  相似文献

A case of fatal salmonellosis in a Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) from Bursa Province (northwestern Turkey) is described. The organs of the bird were examined histopathologically and microbiologically. Macroscopic and microscopic findings were consistent with a Salmonella infection. Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Enteritidis (S. Enteritidis) phage type (PT) 21b was isolated from the liver and spleen in pure culture and from the intestine. The isolate was susceptible to amoxycillin/clavulanic acid, ampicillin, chloramphenicol, gentamicin, kanamycin, tetracycline, and trimethoprim/sulphamethoxazole. This is the first report of an isolation of salmonellae from a wild bird species from Turkey and the first time S. Enteritidis PT21b has been reported from Turkey.  相似文献

Spermine, spermidine, and magnesium ions modulate the kinetic parameters of the Ca2+ transport system ofEndomyces magnusii mitochondria. Mg2+ at concentrations up to 5 mM partially inhibits Ca2+ transport with a half-maximal inhibiting concentration of 0.5 mM. In the presence of 2 mM MgCl2, theS 0.5 value of the Ca2+ transport system increases from 220 to 490 µM, which indicates decreased affinity for the system. Spermine and spermidine exert an activating effect, having half-maximal concentrations of 12 and 50 µM, respectively. In the case of spermine, theS 0.5 value falls to 50–65 µM, which implies an increase in the transport system affinity for Ca2+. Both Mg2+ and spermine cause a decrease of the Hill coefficient, giving evidence for a smaller degree of cooperativity. Spermine and spermidine enable yeast mitochondria to remove Ca2+ from the media completely. In contrast, Mg2+ lowers the mitochondrial buffer capacity. When both Mg2+ and spermine are present in the medium, their effects on theS 0.5 value and the free extramitochondrial Ca2+ concentration are additive. The ability of spermine and Mg2+ to regulate yeast mitochondrial Ca2+ transport is discussed.  相似文献
