为进一步阐明盐生植物白刺耐盐性与多胺的关系,通过水培试验研究了叶面喷施亚精胺(Spd)对不同浓度NaCl胁迫下西伯利亚白刺幼苗叶片丙二醛(MDA)和超氧阴离子(O2)产生速率,以及抗氧化物酶系统和根系活力的影响.结果表明:叶面喷施0.1 mmol·L1 Spd 5 d后,可显著提高100和200 mmol·L1 NaCl胁迫下白刺幼苗叶片超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)、过氧化物酶(POD)和过氧化氢酶(CAT)的活性以及根系活力,降低了叶片MDA含量和O2的产生速率;而在0、50、300 mmol·L-1 NaC1处理下,外施Spd对白刺幼苗叶片上述指标无显著影响.研究结果证实,在100~200 mmol·L-1 NaCl胁迫范围内,外施亚精胺可能通过增强体内保护酶活性来显著降低活性氧水平,有效减轻盐胁迫对盐生植物白刺幼苗造成的过氧化伤害,从而增强白刺对盐环境的适应性.  相似文献

Salinity is a significant constraint for plant survival and productivity. Therefore, an immediate solution to this problem is sought to meet the human population''s food demands. Recently, Menadione sodium bisulphite (MSB) has emerged as a significant regulator of plant defense response under abiotic stress. Studies on MSB are scarce, and a few reports on salinity (Arabidopsis and okra) and cadmium stress (okra) are present in the literature. However, these studies did not include the impact of MSB on physiological and plant water relation attributes, critical mediators of plant survival, and yield production under stress. Our results studied the impact of MSB on wheat administered to NaCl salinity in hydroponics medium. We used two wheat cultivars (salt-sensitive MH-97 and salt-tolerant Millat-2011, based on our pre-experimental studies). Seeds were primed in different MSB doses [control (unprimed), hydroprimed, 5, 10, 20, and 30 mM]. Salinity significantly diminished growth, chlorophyll molecules, photosynthesis, total free amino acids, water and turgor potentials, K, Ca, and P contents of wheat when administered NaCl salinity in the nutrient solution. Besides, a noteworthy accretion was present in oxidative stress markers [hydrogen peroxide & malondialdehyde], proline, ascorbic acid, antioxidant enzyme activities, and Na+ accumulation under salinity. Moreover, MSB noticeably enhanced chlorophyll molecules, proline, and oxidative defense to improve photosynthesis, plant water relations, and diminish specific ions toxicity. Our results manifested better defense regulation in salt-administered plants primed with 5 and 10 mM MSB. Our findings strongly advocated the use of MSB in improving plant salinity tolerance, particularly in wheat.  相似文献

The effect of pre-sowing magnetic treatments was investigated on germination, growth and yield of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus cv. Sapz pari). The dry okra seeds were exposed to sinusoidal magnetic field induced by an electromagnet. The average magnetic field exposure was 99 mT for 3 and 11 min and seeds with no magnetic field treatment were considered as control. Both treated and non-treated seeds were sown in experimental plots (120 m2) under similar conditions. Samples were collected at regular intervals for statistical analysis. A significant increase (P < 0.05) was observed in germination percentage, number of flowers per plant, leaf area (cm2), plant height (cm) at maturity, number of fruits per plant, pod mass per plant and number of seeds per plant. The 99 mT for 11 min exposure showed better results as compared to control.  相似文献

为了明确具有极强抗虫特性的‘草原4号紫花苜蓿’(Medicago sativa L.‘Caoyuan No.4’) 营养器官的解剖特征,该研究选择具有抗蓟马特性较强的‘草原2号杂花苜蓿’(Medicago varia Martin.‘Caoyuan No.2’)为对照,采用显微镜观察比较两品种的根、茎、叶解剖结构特征,为揭示‘草原4号紫花苜蓿’ 抗蓟马特性提供理论依据。结果显示:(1)‘草原4号紫花苜蓿’根部解剖结构的皮层薄壁细胞厚度、内皮层厚度、形成层厚度、木质部厚度和木射线宽度等5个指标均极显著高于(P<0.01)‘草原2号杂花苜蓿’,其中木射线宽度(159.37 μm)是‘草原2号杂花苜蓿’的1.82倍。(2)‘草原4号紫花苜蓿’的茎部厚角组织厚度(21.4 μm)极显著高于‘草原2号杂花苜蓿’(P<0.01),而韧皮部宽度、髓直径却均极显著低于‘草原2号杂花苜蓿’(P<0.01)。(3)‘草原4号紫花苜蓿’叶片解剖构造的7个指标均极显著高于‘草原2号杂花苜蓿’(P<0.01),其中栅栏组织层数(2~3层)极明显地高于‘草原2号杂花苜蓿’(1~2层)。研究表明,‘草原4号紫花苜蓿’的组织结构特征具有明显的抗虫特征,且其组织的抗虫特征比‘草原2号杂花苜蓿’更为突出。  相似文献

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is important factor for angiogenesis in psoriasis. Methotrexate and psoralen and ultraviolet light A (PUVA) mainly target the T cell-mediated immunopathology of psoriasis. Our work aimed at estimating VEGF mRNA in psoriatic patients and investigating whether the standard therapeutic modalities (methotrexate and PUVA) exert their antiangiogenic activity through altering VEGF levels. Twenty-four chronic plaque psoriasis patients were enrolled. Patients were divided into two groups (12 patients each); group A received intramuscular methotrexate and group B was treated by PUVA three times/week in a PUVA 1000 cabin for 10 weeks each. Twelve healthy volunteers served as controls. A skin biopsy was taken from lesional skin before and after treatment for RT-PCR detection of VEGF mRNA. Capillary perfusion scanning using LASER Doppler perfusion imaging was performed on the same psoriatic plaque before and after treatment and was also done for the controls. Following both methotrexate and PUVA, a significant reduction in the amount of VEGF mRNA (P < 0.001 and P = 0.002, respectively) and capillary perfusion (P = 0.002) occurred. These reductions were significantly higher in the methotrexate group (P < 0.001 and  P = 0.001, respectively) than in the PUVA group. The percentage of clinical improvement in the examined psoriatic plaque was significantly positively correlated with the percentage of reduction in the amount of VEGF mRNA (r = 0.850, P < 0.001) and the percentage of reduction in the capillary perfusion (r = 0.684, P < 0.001). Both modalities may exert an antiangiogenic effect. Methotrexate appears to have possibly a more potent antiangiogenic effect than PUVA.  相似文献

Several fundamental questions remain enigmatic concerning human olfactory sensitivity, including (i) whether detection threshold differences exist between the two sides of the nose (and, if so, whether such differences are influenced by handedness) and (ii) whether bilateral (i.e. binasal) stimulation leads to lower thresholds than unilateral stimulation (and, if so, whether the degree of facilitation is inversely related to general olfactory ability). In this study, and well-validated single staircase procedure was used to establish bilateral and unilateral detection thresholds for the cranial nerve I stimulant phenyl ethyl alcohol in 130 right- and 33 left-handed subjects. No differences in sensitivity between the left and right sides of the nose were observed in either group. Bilateral thresholds were lower, on average, than unilateral thresholds when the latter were categorized in terms of left and right nares. However, the bilateral thresholds did not differ significantly from those of the side of the nose with the lower threshold. Overall smell ability, as measured by the University of Pennsylvania Smell Identification Test, did not interact with any of the test measures. These data imply that (i) the left and right sides of the nose do not systematically differ in detection threshold sensitivity for either dextrals or sinistrals and (ii) if central integration of left:right olfactory threshold sensitivity occurs, its effects do not exceed the function of the better side of the nose.   相似文献

Fungal endophyte-grass associations are diverse and complex. Some endophytes (e.g. Neotyphodium spp.) reproduce asexually by growing vegetatively into host seeds and many of these vertically-transmitted endophytes form mutualisms with their hosts by providing high levels of alkaloids, such as lolines, that reduce herbivore performance. Additionally, Neotyphodium coenophialum provides wound-inducible herbivore resistance through increased production of lolines. Neotyphodium likely evolved from Epichloë spp. which are sexually reproducing endophytes that are transmitted horizontally to the next host generation through production of stromata (fruiting bodies), which sterilize host grasses. We asked if wound-inducible resistance like that in N . coenophialum also occurs in the ancestral, sexually reproducing Epichloë glyceriae , which infects Glyceria striata . Host grasses were damaged by fall armyworm caterpillars, artificially cut, or left undamaged. An aphid bioassay tested the plant's toxicity to herbivores, expression of lolc (a gene in the loline biosynthesis pathway) was quantified using real-time RT-PCR, and loline concentration was quantified using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. Artificially-damaged plants supported fewer live aphids, had greater lolc mRNA expression, and greater loline concentration than undamaged plants. Herbivore-damaged plants supported intermediate performance by aphids, low lolc mRNA expression, and minimal loline concentration. Our study is the first to demonstrate sexual endophytes can produce lolines following wounding. This suggests wound-induced responses are ancestral within the Epichloë / Neotyphodium clade and reveals a trait of grass endophytes that may have predisposed them for the evolution of defensive mutualisms with their hosts.  相似文献
