We performed classical molecular dynamics simulations of the ionic liquids (ILs) [dmim+][Cl?] and [emim+][NTf2?], confined in a model CMK-5 material, which consists of amorphous carbon nanopipes (ACNPs) arranged in a hexagonal array. We compare our findings against the behaviour of the same ILs inside an isolated ACNP (i.e. no IL adsorbed on the outer surface of the ACNP) and inside a model CMK-3 material (which is similar to CMK-5, but is formed by amorphous carbon nanorods). Our results indicate that the presence of IL adsorbed in the outer surface of an uncharged ACNP in CMK-5 affects the dynamics and the density of an IL adsorbed inside the ACNP and vice versa. ILs adsorbed outside the nanopipes in CMK-5 (i.e. with IL also adsorbed inside the nanopipes) have faster dynamics and remain closer to the carbon surfaces when compared to the same ILs adsorbed on CMK-3 materials. The trends are IL-specific: [dmim+][Cl?] has slower dynamics when inside an isolated ACNP than when inside the ACNPs in CMK-5, but in contrast, [emim+][NTf2?] moves faster when it is inside an isolated ACNP than when it is inside the ACNPs in CMK-5 (i.e. with IL adsorbed outside the nanopipes).  相似文献

Biological invasions are a key component of global change, and understanding the drivers of global invasion patterns will aid in assessing and mitigating the impact of invasive species. While invasive species are most often studied in the context of one or two trophic levels, in reality species invade communities comprised of complex food webs. The complexity and integrity of the native food web may be a more important determinant of invasion success than the strength of interactions between a small subset of species within a larger food web. Previous efforts to understand the relationship between food web properties and species invasions have been primarily theoretical and have yielded mixed results. Here, we present a synthesis of empirical information on food web connectance and species invasion success gathered from different sources (estimates of food web connectance from the primary literature and estimates of invasion success from the Global Invasive Species Database as well as the primary literature). Our results suggest that higher‐connectance food webs tend to host fewer invaders and exert stronger biotic resistance compared to low‐connectance webs. We argue that while these correlations cannot be used to infer a causal link between food web connectance and habitat invasibility, the promising findings beg for further empirical research that deliberately tests for relationships between food web connectance and invasion.  相似文献

Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae causes bacterial leaf blight, a serious disease of rice. A mutation was isolated in the ferric uptake regulator (fur) gene of X. oryzae pv. oryzae and it was shown to result in the production of siderophores in a constitutive manner. The fur mutant is hypersensitive to the metallo-antibiotic streptonigrin, a phenotype that is indicative of intracellular free-iron overload, and also exhibits a slow growth phenotype on rich medium. The fur mutant is virulence deficient, hypersensitive to hydrogen peroxide, and exhibits reduced catalase activity. Exogenous supplementation with ascorbic acid (an antioxidant) rescues the growth deficiency of the fur mutant in rice leaves. The virulence deficiency of the X. oryzae pv. oryzae fur mutant is proposed to be due, at least in part, to an impaired ability to cope with the oxidative stress conditions that are encountered during infection.  相似文献

Methylobacterium sp. strain CRL-26 grown in a fermentor contained methane monooxygenase activity in soluble fractions. Soluble methane monooxygenase catalyzed the epoxidation/hydroxylation of a variety of hydrocarbons, including terminal alkenes, internal alkenes, substituted alkenes, branched-chain alkenes, alkanes (C1 to C8), substituted alkanes, branched-chain alkanes, carbon monoxide, ethers, and cyclic and aromatic compounds. The optimum pH and temperature for the epoxidation of propylene by soluble methane monooxygenase were found to be 7.0 and 40°C, respectively. Among various compounds tested, only NADH2 or NADPH2 could act as an electron donor. Formate and NAD+ (in the presence of formate dehydrogenase contained in the soluble fraction) or 2-butanol in the presence of NAD+ and secondary alcohol dehydrogenase generated the NADH2 required for the methane monooxygenase. Epoxidation of propylene catalyzed by methane monooxygenase was not inhibited by a range of potential inhibitors, including metal-chelating compounds and potassium cyanide. Sulfhydryl agents and acriflavin inhibited monooxygenase activity. Soluble methane monooxygenase was resolved into three components by ion-exchange chromatography. All three compounds are required for the epoxidation and hydroxylation reactions.  相似文献
