The results of experimental therapy of antraxis infected mice with cefazoline (kefzol) and ampicillin incapsulated into liposomes are presented. Protective activity of the same free antibiotics combinated with amixine and leukinferone was evaluated also. Treatment with liposomal cefazoline enhanced mice survival upto 60 per cent, and life period upto 1.3 +/- 0.3 days. After liposomal ampicillin administration for 3 times the same indices were 60 per cent and 6.5 +/- 0.9 days, after 2 times administration--80 per cent and 14 +/- 1.8 days when compared to the groups of the animals treated with free antibiotics. It was shown that administration of ampicillin with amixine or with leukinferone provided enhanced mice survival upto 20 per cent, administration of cefazoline with leukinferone--upto 30 per cent.  相似文献

A recently published study on the development of the turtle shell highlights the important role that development plays in the origin of evolutionary novelties. The evolution of the highly derived adult anatomy of turtles is a prime example of a macroevolutionary event triggered by changes in early embryonic development. Early ontogenetic deviation may cause patterns of morphological change that are not compatible with scenarios of gradualistic, stepwise transformation.  相似文献

Leaf flavonoid chemistry was examined from the three subgenera and 11 species of the endemic genus Dendroseris (Compositae, Lactuceae) of the Juan Fernandez Islands, Chile. Eight of the species are restricted to the older island (Masatierra, ca. 4 million years old), which is also closer to the mainland. Three species, one from each subgenus, are restricted to Masafuera, which is younger geologically (1–2 million years old) and 145 km further west of Masatierra. A total of 16 compounds was identified, with the 7-0-glucosides of the flavones apigenin and luteolin accounting for 12 of the constituents. Two glucosides of the flavonol quercetin were detected. Despite considerable interpopulation variation within species, six of the taxa have distinctive flavonoid profiles. Although there are few absolute differences among the subgenera, they can be distinguished chemically. Subgenus Rea contains the greatest number of compounds, and a previous cladistic analysis based on morphological features suggested this subgenus as most primitive. Subgenus Phoenicoseris is considered highly derived morphologically, and it has a reduced flavonoid chemistry. Very little reduction in flavonoid diversity was seen in the morphologically specialized subg. Dendroseris as compared to subg. Rea. A trend in reduction of numbers of compounds was seen for two of the three species on the younger island of Masafuera when compared to their presumed ancestors on Masatierra. Flavonoids of selected species of Hieracium and Hypochaeris, presumptive mainland progenitors of Dendroseris, reveal a close chemical affinity with the former genus.  相似文献

Lysozyme and antilysozyme activities present in a wide range of microorganisms determine the so-called lysozyme-antilysozyme system of hydrobionts, which greatly contribute to the formation of aquatic biocenoses. However, the mechanism of the functioning of this system in natural freshwater communities remains obscure. The experimental investigation of lysozyme-antilysozyme interactions in a model Tetrahymena--Escherichia community showed that the antilysozyme activity of Escherichia coli leads to incomplete phagocytosis, thus enhancing bacterial survival in a mixed culture with infusoria. The selection and reproduction of bacterial cells resistant to grazing by infusoria determine the character of host-parasite interactions and allow bacteria to survive. It was demonstrated that the antilysozyme activity of microorganisms, which is responsible for bacterial persistency in natural biocenoses, is involved in the maintenance of protozoa-bacteria communities in bodies of water.  相似文献

The natural diet of the Chilean croaker, Cilus gilberti Abbott 1899, was studied in Queule and Tumbes, two areas in central-southern Chile, with emphasis on the possible influences of geographic distribution, sex and ontogenetic development on the croaker feeding habits. Results indicate that C. gilberti behaves in both locations as an euriphagic carnivore predator. The Queule population predate mainly on the sardine Strangomera bentincki Norman 1936, while at Tumbes the principal prey items were mysids. Further quantitative analyses showed that within the Queule population, females between 54 and 75 cm total length (TL), as well as those individuals exceeding 75 cm, acted as an Ontogenetic Trophic Unit (OTU). A Transitional OTU, which includes individuals between 47 and 54 cm, was also identified. Queule males between 47 and 68 cm defined one OTU; another OTU was defined with individuals between 68 and 82 cm. On the other hand, the female population at Tumbes behaved as an OTU between 68 and 89 cm TL; males were grouped in an OTU ranging from 61 to 89 cm TL.  相似文献

Similarities in the discrete mode and size of contact areas of a wide range of protein complexes allows us to suggest the existence of a limited number of types of inter-protein interactions. Comparison of structures of bound determinants indicates that the double-module, 1-X-3 type of motif is widespread in recognition processes. Thus, in many cases, the sites of ligand recognition are formed by two significant amino acids and separated by insignificant ones. Typical examples of such motifs are the RGD sequence of some adhesive and haemostatic proteins, the primary sites for plasminogen sorption on the fibrin network, the reactive sites of protein inhibitors of serine proteinases, and the sites for activation of the hydrolysis of protein pro-forms and receptors. It is assumed that there is widespread double-module determinants in many inter-protein interactions.  相似文献

Apterous is a LIM-homeodomain protein that confers dorsal compartment identity in Drosophila wing development. Apterous activity requires formation of a complex with a co-factor, Chip/dLDB. Apterous activity is regulated during wing development by dLMO, which competes with Apterous for complex formation. Here, we present evidence that complex formation between Apterous, Chip and DNA stabilizes Apterous protein in vivo. We also report that a difference in the ability of Chip to bind the LIM domains of Apterous and dLMO contributes to regulation of activity levels in vivo.  相似文献

The transition from an amorphous subsong into mature song requires a series of vocal changes. By tracing song elements during development, we have shown that the imitation trajectory to the target could not be predicted based on monotonic progression of vocal changes, indicating an internal component that imposes constraints on song development. Here we further examine the nature of constraints on song imitation in the zebra finch. We first present techniques for identifying and tracing distinctive vocal changes, and then we examine how sequences of vocal change are expressed and coordinated. Examples suggest two types of constraints on song imitation, based on the nature of the temporal context. Developmentally diachronic constraints are imposed by sequential dependencies between vocal changes as a function of developmental time, whereas developmentally synchronic constraints are given by the acoustic context of notes within the song. Finally, we show that the tendency of birds to copy certain sounds in the song model before others might be related to such constraints. We suggest that documenting the full range of distinctive vocal changes and the coordination of their expression would be useful for testing mechanisms of vocal imitation.  相似文献

The current induced in a human exposed to radio frequency electric fields has been studied by the use of a stripline, in which whole body exposure to vertical electric fields (3-27 MHz) can be produced. We have examined two different techniques to measure the induced current; parallel plate meters and current probes. When the subject has good connection to the ground, the choice of measurement technique is not crucial, since there are only minor differences in readings between the instruments. But when the subject is wearing shoes and/or standing on a wooden plate, the difference between the instruments increases considerably. The difference can mainly be explained by the capacitive coupling between the parallel plate meters and the ground; therefore, the current probes are preferred when the subject does not have perfect contact with the ground. Since the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection guidelines demand measurements of induced current in humans exposed to radio frequency fields in the range of 10-110 MHz, the importance of finding an appropriate measurement procedure becomes apparent.  相似文献
