Influence of parathyroidectomy on liver glycogen in rats treated with carbon tetrachloride 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) brings about a rise in cytosolic free calcium which may lead to glycogen mobilization. Therefore, glycogen and glucose-6-phosphatase (G-6-pase) levels in the liver of parathyroidectomized (PTX) rats following CCl4 treatment have been estimated. CCl4 depletes both glycogen and G-6-pase levels in the liver. PTX followed by CCl4 administration, however, fails to restore liver glycogen and G-6-pase levels. The results suggest that neither cytosolic Ca2+ nor phospholipase A2 mediation is needed for glycogen mobilization, however, glucocorticoid intervention might have a role in such mechanisms. 相似文献

We propose a surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-based refractive index sensor using gold-alumina grating over aluminum film for biosensing. Conventional SPR sensor based on gold grating exhibits broader SPR dips whereas that based on aluminum grating exhibits narrow reflection dip. A narrow reflection dip is desirable as it provides good resolution and improves the accuracy of measurement. Aluminum is less stable and generally is not preferred for an SPR-based sensor. It is more prone to being oxidized, which reduces the sensitivity and increases the width of the reflection dip of the sensor. While gold cannot provide narrow SPR reflection dips, but is used as an SPR active metal due to its more chemical stability. In order to improve the accuracy of gold grating-based sensor while taking care of oxidation problem of aluminum, in this paper, we propose a gold grating over aluminum film for SPR-based sensor and show that this configuration improves the sensitivity and the detection accuracy of the conventional sensor. Moreover, the oxidation problem is reduced to some extent as a part of aluminum is covered with gold. In order to completely avoid the oxidation of aluminum, we further propose to cover the exposed part of the aluminum with alumina and show that this configuration further improves the accuracy by reducing the width of the SPR reflection dip without affecting the sensitivity significantly. The effect of the sulphur atom on 2-thiouracil (2TU) and 2-thiouridine molecules, as compared with uracil and uridine molecules, respectively, was carried out in several environments. The predicted IR spectrum of 2TU in the isolated state was compared with that obtained for uracil molecule and with those reported experimentally in matrix isolation. Its crystal unit cell in the solid state was simulated through a tetramer form using DFT methods for the first time. The calculated Raman spectrum was compared to the experimental ones in the solid state. A linear scaling procedure was used for this task. The first hydration shell was simulated by explicit number of water molecules surrounding 2TU up to 30 and was compared with that obtained in uracil molecule. Water molecules ‘distributed’ around 2TU was preferred over that ‘clustering’, because it can better reproduce the hydration and their effects on different parameters of the molecular structure of 2TU and uracil. The total atomic charges and several calculated thermodynamic parameters were discussed. The effect of the sulphur atom on the Watson-Crick (WC) and reverse WC base pair uridine-adenosine was estimated, and the CP corrected interaction energies were calculated. 2-thiouridine has a weaker WC pair than that with uridine, although its slight higher dipole moment (μ) facilitates the interaction with the water molecules. Reverse micellar extraction of lipase using cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) was investigated. The effect of various process parameters on both forward and backward extraction of lipase from crude extract was studied to optimize its yield and purity. Forward extraction of lipase was found to be maximum using Tris buffer at pH 9.0 containing 0.10 M NaCl in aqueous phase and 0.20 M CTAB in organic phase consisting of isooctane, butanol and hexanol. In case of backward extraction, lipase was extracted from the organic phase to a fresh aqueous phase in 0.05 M potassium phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) containing 1.0 M KCl. The activity recovery, extraction efficiency and purification factor of lipase were found to be 82.72%, 40.27% and 4.09-fold, respectively. The studies also indicated that the organic phase recovered after back extraction could be reused for the extraction of lipase from crude extract. 相似文献

Schizopyrenus russelli, a free-living soil ameba, grows and encysts in the presence of bacteria. The encystment occurs with decline in the division rate. This is accompanied by incorporation of [U-14C] glucose into cyst cellulose. The degree of multiplication (but not of encystment) is a function of bacterial concentration. Berenil, a trypanocidal drug, while allowing excystment, completely inhibited multiplication of emerged amebae and their encystment. Addition of this drug after 24 hr, when amebae had gone into a phase of active division failed to check encystment, although it still inhibited further multiplication of the amebae. The synthesis and filaricidal activity of 1-iso-butoxycarbonyl-4-methylpiperazine against Litomosoides carinii in Sigmodon hispidus and Dipetalonema viteae in Mastomys natalensis is reported. At an intraperitoneal or oral dose of 3 mg/kg given for 6 days, the compound removed 91% of the circulating microfilariae but had no effect on adult L. carinii. However, it killed all microfilariae and adults of D. viteae at a subcutaneous dose of 50 mg/kg given for 6 days. The compound also possessed chemoprophylactic activity against the larvae of L. carinii and D. viteae at a dose of 30 and 50 mg/kg respectively. 相似文献

Ring hydroxylating dioxygenases (RHDOs) are one of the most important classes of enzymes featuring in the microbial metabolism
of several xenobiotic aromatic compounds. One such RHDO is benzenetriol dioxygenase (BtD) which constitutes the metabolic
machinery of microbial degradation of several mono- phenolic and biphenolic compounds including nitrophenols. Assessment of
the natural diversity of benzenetriol dioxygenase (btd) gene sequence is of great significance from basic as well as applied study point of view. In the present study we have evaluated
the gene sequence variations amongst the partial btd genes that were retrieved from microorganisms enriched for PNP degradation from pesticide contaminated agriculture soils.
The gene sequence analysis was also supplemented with an in silico restriction digestion analysis. Furthermore, a phylogenetic analysis based on the deduced amino acid sequence(s) was performed
wherein the evolutionary relatedness of BtD enzyme with similar aromatic dioxygenases was determined. The results obtained
in this study indicated that this enzyme has probably undergone evolutionary divergence which largely corroborated with the
