The role of jasmonic acid in the induction of stomatal closure is well known. However, its role in regulating root hydraulic conductivity (L) has not yet been explored. The objectives of the present research were to evaluate how JA regulates L and how calcium and abscisic acid (ABA) could be involved in such regulation. We found that exogenous methyl jasmonate (MeJA) increased L of Phaseolus vulgaris, Solanum lycopersicum and Arabidopsis thaliana roots. Tomato plants defective in JA biosynthesis had lower values of L than wild‐type plants, and that L was restored by addition of MeJA. The increase of L by MeJA was accompanied by an increase of the phosphorylation state of the aquaporin PIP2. We observed that MeJA addition increased the concentration of cytosolic calcium and that calcium channel blockers inhibited the rise of L caused by MeJA. Treatment with fluoridone, an inhibitor of ABA biosynthesis, partially inhibited the increase of L caused by MeJA, and tomato plants defective in ABA biosynthesis increased their L after application of MeJA. It is concluded that JA enhances L and that this enhancement is linked to calcium and ABA dependent and independent signalling pathways. 相似文献

The monophyletic family Zhangsolvidae comprises stout‐bodied brachyceran flies with a long proboscis and occurring only in the Cretaceous, originally known in shale from the Early Cretaceous Laiyang Formation (Fm.) in China (Zhangsolva Nagatomi & Yang), subsequently from limestones of the Early Cretaceous Crato Fm. of Brazil. Cratomyoides Wilkommen is synonymized with Cratomyia Mazzarolo & Amorim, both from the Crato Fm.; Cratomyiidae is synonymized with Zhangsolvidae. Two genera and three species of Zhangsolvidae are described: Buccinatormyia magnifica Arillo, Peñalver & Pérez‐de la Fuente, gen. et sp.n. and B. soplaensis Arillo, Peñalver & Pérez‐de la Fuente, sp.n. , in Albian amber from Las Peñosas Fm. in Spain; and Linguatormyia teletacta Grimaldi, gen. et sp.n. , in Upper Albian–Lower Cenomanian amber from Hukawng Valley in Myanmar. Buccinatormyia soplaensis and Linguatormyia teletacta are unique among all Brachycera, extant or extinct, by their remarkably long, flagellate antennae, about 1.6× the body length in the latter species. A phylogenetic analysis of 52 morphological characters for 35 taxa is presented, 11 taxa being Cretaceous species, which supports placement of the family within Stratiomyomorpha, although not to any particular family within the infraorder. The Napaeus variatus (Webb & Berthelot, 1833) species group from the Canary Islands is reviewed from literature information, types, other museum specimens, and newly collected material. Anatomy data is newly provided for six species. Five new species are described: N. elegans and N. esbeltus from Tenerife, N. orientalis and N. beguirae from La Gomera, and N. exilis from Gran Canaria. Eight species lack a diverticulum and are referred to the subgenus Napaeus (Napaeus) Albers, 1850, whereas five species are provided with a diverticulum and arc referred to Napaeus (Napaeinus) Hesse, 1933. Four species cannot be assigned to a subgenus due to a lack of information. Keys of species from the different islands are provided. 相似文献

The family Rhinocryptidae comprises an assemblage of 12 genera and 55 species confined to the Neotropical region. Here we present the first morphology‐based phylogenetic study of the Rhinocryptidae, using 90 anatomical characters (62 osteological, 28 syringeal) scored for all genera of the family and representatives of all families of the infraorder Furnariides. Parsimony analysis of this dataset recovered 7428 equally most‐parsimonious trees. The strict consensus of those trees was completely resolved at the genus level, with the topology (Liosceles (Psilorhamphus ((Eleoscytalopus + Merulaxis) (Acropternis ((Teledromas + Rhinocrypta) ((Pteroptochos + Scelorchilus) (Eugralla (Myornis + Scytalopus)))))))). The monophyly of the Rhinocryptidae as presently understood was recovered with strong support [eight synapomorphies and Bremer support (BS) = 6). Strongly supported internal arrangements included the basal position of the Amazonian genus Liosceles relative to the rest of the family (four synapomorphies, BS = 4), a clade containing Acropternis through Scytalopus (six synapomorphies, BS = 4), and other less inclusive nodes. The main points of congruence between the present morphological phylogeny and previous molecular phylogenetic work on the family were clades supported by six or more synapomorphies and Bremer values of 6–7: Eleoscytalopus + Merulaxis (eight synapomorphies, BS = 6), Scelorchilus + Pteroptochos (seven synapomorphies, BS = 7), Rhinocrypta + Teledromas (seven synapomorphies, BS = 7), and Eugralla + Myornis + Scytalopus (six synapomorphies, BS = 6). A classification derived from the morphological phylogeny is proposed, with new suprageneric taxa being named and diagnosed. © 2012 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2012, 166 , 377–432. 相似文献

The phylloclade anatomy of nine Brazilian species of the genus Phyllanthus section Choretropsis was studied, and its systematic significance was analysed. The arrangement of epidermal cells varied according to the species, with the guard cells of the stomatal apparatus distributed randomly or with the longitudinal axis parallel to the branch. In both branch types, the stomata were distributed on the phylloclade surface, except in P. gladiatus which showed hypostomatic branches. In most of the species, phylloclades developed a vascular system surrounded by clusters of fibres and cortical parenchyma, which could differentiate into palisade‐like tissue and ground tissue like a true leaf blade. The distribution of the vascular system followed the cylindrical or flattened diameter shape of the branch. In subsection Choretropsis, the cylindrical branches of P. choretroides, contrary to other species, developed a second ring formed by clusters of fibres surrounded by large parenchymal cells. In subsection Applanata, the palisade‐like cells of P. flagelliformis phylloclades acquired an isodiametric shape. The highest level of specialization was observed in P. gladiatus, which developed phylloclades with a dorsiventral structure, a main vein, and small sets of lateral vascular bundles like a typical leaf blade. The tissue arrangement of different species showed a gradual pattern, which was correlated with the different branch morphology and plant architecture. Despite the transitional pattern, it was suggested that some of the phylloclades had an independent origin and convergent evolution in the Choretropsis section. The anatomy of different branch types was shown to be useful, either in isolation or in association with other morphological characters, to delimit the species and to further understand their relationships and phylogeny. © 2008 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2008, 157 , 91–102. 相似文献

Pheidole oxyops builds subterranean nests, with an external architecture that is distinctive and easily recognizable by its wide and specific entrance hole, measuring up to 12.2 cm in diameter, denoting a pitfall-trap. In order to study the nests' internal architecture, seven nests were excavated; four were identified with neutral talc, while the others were cast in cement and then excavated. Measurements were made in order to gain a better understand- ing of their structures, and a photographic documentation was obtained as well. The excavations revealed that the nests are perpendicular relative to the ground, beginning with a cylindrical channel with a mean length of 13.5 cm, containing irregular formations, and whose diameter becomes progressively narrower until the first chamber is formed. As the channel continues, dish-like chambers appear, interconnected by channels that become progressively narrower and longer, while the chambers are arranged at greater distances from each other as nest depth increases. Both channels and chambers are located on the vertical projection of the entrance hole. Nests may reach a depth of up to 5.09 m, with a number of chambers ranging between 4 and 14. 相似文献

With this paper we initiate a taxonomic review of the genusNapaeus from the Canary Islands, indicating the statisticalmethodology used therein. We discuss the taxonomic problem ofNapaeus (Napaeinus) nanodes (Shuttleworth, 1852), designateits lectotype and describe five new species: Napaeus (Napaeinus)doliolum Henríquez, Napaeus (Napaeinus) bechi Alonso& Ibáñez, Napaeus (Napaeus) taguluchensisHenríquez, Napaeus (Napaeus) pygmaeus Ibáñez& Alonso and Napaeus (Napaeus) tagamichensis Henríquez, the first two from Tenerife; and the other three from La Gomera.Furthermore, we discuss the general relationships of the genusand its two sub-genera, whose original diagnoses are deficient;because of this, we think that in the future a broad reviewof the subfamily Eninae will be necessary in order to clarifythe actual position of this subfamily in the Canary Islands. SYNOPSIS. The process of conjugation in a strain of Stylonychia muscorum Kahl is described. It follows the general pattern reported earlier in other Oxytrichidae, but the following peculiarities can be noted: 1) mating never occurs between individuals possessing only two micronuclei, 2)exchange of small macronuclear lobes can be occasionally observed, and 3) the reorganization of the exconjugants involves the quick, successive passage of a series of reorganization bands. 相似文献
