Data were obtained from patients aged 20 years or more, registered with their current practice between 1st January 1998 and 31st December 2008, for at least one year. The availability and quality of recorded CHD family history was assessed using multilevel logistic and ordinal logistic regression respectively.Results
In a cross-section of 1,504,535 patients, 19% had a positive or negative family history of CHD recorded. Multilevel logistic regression showed patients aged 50–59 had higher odds of having their family history recorded compared to those aged 20–29 (OR:1.23 (1.21 to 1.25)), however most deprived patients had lower odds compared to those least deprived (OR: 0.86 (0.85 to 0.88)). Of the 140,058 patients with a positive family history recorded (9% of total cohort), age of onset was available in 45%; with data specifying both age of onset and relative affected available in only 11% of records. Multilevel ordinal logistic regression confirmed no statistical association between the quality of family history recording and age, gender, deprivation and year of registration.Conclusion
Family history of CHD is documented in a small proportion of primary care records; and where positive family history is documented the details are insufficient to assess familial risk or populate cardiovascular risk assessment tools. Data capture needs to be improved particularly for more disadvantaged patients who may be most likely to benefit from CHD risk assessment. 相似文献103.

Honey bee is vital for pollination and ecological services, boosting crops productivity in terms of quality and quantity and production of colony products: wax, royal jelly, bee venom, honey, pollen and propolis. Honey bees are most important plant pollinators and almost one third of diet depends on bee’s pollination, worth billions of dollars. Hence the role that honey bees have in environment and their economic importance in food production, their health is of dominant significance. Honey bees can be infected by various pathogens like: viruses, bacteria, fungi, or infested by parasitic mites. At least more than 20 viruses have been identified to infect honey bees worldwide, generally from Dicistroviridae as well as Iflaviridae families, like ABPV (Acute Bee Paralysis Virus), BQCV (Black Queen Cell Virus), KBV (Kashmir Bee Virus), SBV (Sacbrood Virus), CBPV (Chronic bee paralysis virus), SBPV (Slow Bee Paralysis Virus) along with IAPV (Israeli acute paralysis virus), and DWV (Deformed Wing Virus) are prominent and cause infections harmful for honey bee colonies health. We have introduced a convenient synthesis method for carbamate-linked cationic lipids. Two cationic lipids N-[1-(2,3-didodecylcarbamoyloxy)propyl]-N,N,N-trimethylammonium iodide (DDCTMA) and N-[1-(2,3-didodecyl carbamoyloxy)propyl]-N-ethyl-N,N-dimethylammonium iodide (DDCEDMA), with identical length of hydrocarbon chains, alternative quaternary ammonium heads, carbamate linkages between hydrocarbon chains and quaternary ammonium heads, were synthesized for liposome-mediated gene delivery. Liposomes composed of DDCEDMA and DOPE in 1:1 ratio exhibited a lower zeta potential as compared to those made of pure DDCEDMA alone, which influences their DNA-binding ability. pGFP-N2 plasmid was transferred by cationic liposomes formed from the above cationic lipids into Hela and Hep-2 cells, and the transfection efficiency of some of cationic liposomes was superior or parallel to that of two commercial transfection agents, Lipofectamine2000 and DOTAP. Combined with the results of the agarose gel electrophoresis and transfection experiment, the DNA-binding ability of cationic lipids was too strong to release DNA from complex in the transfection, which could lead to relative low transfection efficiency and high cytotoxicity. 相似文献

Studies on the effect of ninhydrin in the normal gastric mucosa and against the ethanol induced gastric injury were undertaken in rats in view of the presence of a carbonyl function as well as hydroxyl groups in its chemical structure. In spite of its potentials to generate hydroxyl radicals, it is deemed to possess antioxidant property by virtue of its electrophilic nature. Recent studies have shown gastro-protection to mediate through a reaction between the electrophilic compounds and sulfhydryl groups of the mucosa. Hence it was found worthwhile to evaluate the interaction between the oxidant and antioxidant functions in the structure of the same compound. The effects of ninhydrin pretreatment on gastric mucosal injuries caused by 80% ethanol, 25% NaCl and 0.2M NaOH were investigated in rats. The gastric tissue in ethanol-treated rats was analyzed for different histopathological lesions. In addition, the effects on ethanol-induced changes in the gastric levels of proteins, nucleic acids, non-protein sulfhydryl (NP-SH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were also evaluated. Ninhydrin, as such, failed to induce any significant changes in normal gastric mucosa, while its pretreatment at oral doses of 5, 10 and 20 mg/kg was found to provide a dose-dependent protection against the ulcers induced by ethanol, NaOH and NaCl. The results of histopathological evaluation revealed a protective effect of ninhydrin on congestion, hemorrhage, edema, erosions and necrosis caused by ethanol. Furthermore, the pretreatment afforded a dose-dependent inhibition of the ethanol-induced depletion of proteins, nucleic acids, NP-SH and increase of MDA in the gastric tissue. The results obtained clearly demonstrate the anti-ulcerogenic activity of ninhydrin. The exact mechanism of action is not known. However, the carbonyl function in ninhydrin appears to achieve antioxidant balance and protect the gastric mucosa from the ethanol-induced gastric injury. Further studies are warranted to investigate the toxicity and detailed mechanism of action of this potent compound before any clinical trials, especially at the effective lower doses. 相似文献

In the preceding paper, we showed that GSK3beta phosphorylates tau at S(202), T(231), S(396), and S(400) in vivo. Phosphorylation of S(202) occurs without priming. Phosphorylation of T(231), on the other hand, requires priming phosphorylation of S(235). Similarly, priming phosphorylation of S(404) is essential for the sequential phosphorylation of S(400) and S(396) by GSK3beta. The priming kinase that phosphorylates tau at S(235) and S(404) in the brain is not known. In this study, we find that in HEK-293 cells cotransfected with tau, GSK3beta, and Cdk5, Cdk5 phosphorylates tau at S(202), S(235), and S(404). S(235) phosphorylation enhances GSK3beta-catalyzed T(231) phosphorylation. Similarly, Cdk5 by phosphorylating S(404) stimulates phosphorylation of S(400) and S(396) by GSK3beta. These data indicate that Cdk5 primes tau for GSK3beta in intact cells. To evaluate if Cdk5 primes tau for GSK3beta in mammalian brain, we examined localizations of Cdk5, tau, and GSK3beta in rat brain. We also analyzed the interaction of Cdk5 with tau and GSK3beta in brain microtubules. We found that Cdk5, GSK3beta, and tau are virtually colocalized in rat brain cortex. When bovine brain microtubules are analyzed by FPLC gel filtration, Cdk5, GSK3beta, and tau coelute within an approximately 450 kDa complex. From the fractions containing the approximately 450 kDa complex, tau, Cdk5, and GSK3beta co-immunoprecipitate with each other. In HEK-293 cells transfected with tau, Cdk5, and GSK3beta in different combinations, tau binds to Cdk5 in a manner independent of GSK3beta and to GSK3beta in a manner independent of Cdk5. However, Cdk5 and GSK3beta bind to each other only in the presence of tau, suggesting that tau connects Cdk5 and GSK3beta. Our results suggest that in the brain, tau, Cdk5, and GSK3beta are components of an approximately 450 kDa complex. Within the complex, Cdk5 phosphorylates tau at S(235) and primes it for phosphorylation of T(231) by GSK3beta. Similarly, Cdk5 by phosphorylating tau at S(404) primes tau for a sequential phosphorylation of S(400) and S(396) by GSK3beta. 相似文献

Investigations were made on rearing, reproductive behaviour and gamma sterilization of one-day old male adults of Dacus zonatus. The larvae were successfully reared on an artificial diet based on wheat shorts. Adult emergence ranged from 89–99% with a sex ratio of about 1:1. Mating occurred at dusk and its duration ranged from 8–13 hours. Males mated a second time with the same female but preferred mating if the already mated female was replaced with a sexually mature virgin female. The optimum dosage for inducing sterility amongst one-day old male adults was 12 kR.

Die Arbeit gibt Daten über Verpuppungsprozentsatz (69,3%), Puppengewicht, Dauer der Ei + Larvenperiode, Schlüpfen der Adulten, Präovipositionszeit, Fruchtbarkeit, Fertilität und Lebensdauer der Adulten. Die Schlüpfrate der Adulten betrug 89–99%, das Geschlechtsverhältnis lag etwa bei 1:1. Die Kopulation findet während der Abenddämmerung statt, sie dauert 8–13 Stunden. Maximum der Kopulationen zwischen dem 10. und 15. Tag nach dem Schlüpfen. Männchen paarten sich ein zweites Mal mit dem gleichen Weibchen, bevorzugten jedoch geschlechtsreife jung-fräuliche Weibchen. Die Eiablage begann am 2.–7. Tag nach der Paarung, die Eizahl betrug bei gepaarten Weibchen 91–564.Die optimale Dosis zur Erzeugung von 99,3% Sterilität bei Bestrahlung von einem Tag alten Männchen war 12 kR. BackgroundSeveral developing countries like Pakistan step into Sustainable Development Goals period with crucial maternal and child health needs that need to be addressed for improving health outcomes among people. We aim to explore existent socio-economic disparities in use of family planning methods (FPM) among Pakistani women, and compare any such inequalities between the years 2006 and 2013.SettingPakistan Demographic and Health Surveys (PDHS) 2006–7 (n = 9177) and the most recent 2012–13(n = 13558) data were used to conduct secondary analysis. Participants were ever married women aged between 15 and 49 years. Socio-economic status was assessed by the education level and wealth index. Inequalities were measured through Odds Ratio (OR), Relative Index of inequality (RII), and Slope index of inequality (SII) on non-use of FPM.ResultsAlthough the prevalence of FPM use has increased over time (28% in 2006 versus 54% in 2013), the socio-economic inequalities persistently exist. Comparing results of PDHS 2006 with PDHS 2013, education related absolute inequalities among urban dwellers increased from -0.41 (95% CI -0.67, -0.13, p-value < 0.01) to -0.83 (95% CI -1.02, -0.63, p-value < 0.01); and increased from -0.93 (95% CI -1.21, -0.64, p-value < 0.01) to -0.98 (95% CI -1.20, -0.76, p-value < 0.01) among rural dwellers. Similarly wealth related absolute inequalities are also existent.ConclusionsAlthough the FPM use has increased over time, but it is important to note that socio-economic gap in use of FPM persists. Such differences have disadvantaged the poor and the illiterate. Family planning programs may target the disadvantaged subgroups for ensuring well-being of women and children in Pakistan. 相似文献

A new series of complexes of cobalt(II) fluoride, nickel(II) fluoride, copper(II) fluoride and zinc(II) fluoride with imidazole were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moments, IR and electronic absorption measurements. Based on elemental and spectral data, the complexes were found to be of [M(im)6]F2 · XH2O type, where M is Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) and X 4-5. The magnetic moments and spectral data suggested that all the complexes possessed an octahedral geometry. The crystal structure of the nickel complex, [Ni(im)6]F2 · 5H2O, is also reported in which nickel atom is surrounded by six nitrogen atoms of imidazole. Strong intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonding exists between fluoride ions (uncoordinated), nitrogen of imidazole and the -OH of water molecules. 相似文献

Spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) zygotic embryos were successfully cryopreserved, without the addition of exogenous cryoprotectants, using only an abscisic acid (ABA) pretreatment. Optimum survival was obtained when embryos were cultured in vitro for 10 days on semisolid Murashige and Skoog (MS) nutrient medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/L (±) ABA prior to cryopreservation. The embryos resumed growth within three days when returned to MS medium devoid of ABA but containing 2mg/L 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. The embryogenic calli produced from these embryos exhibited normal plant regeneration on auxin-free media.
