Junior physicians mainly learn during their observation in the operative room. The senior physicians evaluate them based on the same kind of observation. Knowledge transfer evaluation is thus done without quantitative methods and it mainly lies on a subjective assessment. In this paper, we present some recent techniques used to objectively evaluate medical gestures. The classical techniques used are Hidden Markov Models (HMM) or Dynamic Time Warping (DTW). Both techniques lies on the temporal analysis of the gestures. We proposed here a technique based on the arc length parametrization in order to analyze the gestures in space which is more appropriate because it gives information about the shape of the gestures independently of the chosen coordinate system. 相似文献

Olive knot disease, caused by Pseudomonas savastanoi pv. savastanoi, is one of the most important biotic constraints for olive cultivation. Pseudomonas fluorescens PICF7, a natural colonizer of olive roots and effective biological control agent (BCA) against Verticillium wilt of olive, was examined as potential BCA against olive knot disease. Bioassays using in vitro-propagated olive plants were carried out to assess whether strain PICF7 controlled knot development either when co-inoculated with the pathogen in stems or when the BCA (in roots) and the pathogen (in stems) were spatially separated. Results showed that PICF7 was able to establish and persist in stem tissues upon artificial inoculation. While PICF7 was not able to suppress disease development, its presence transiently decreased pathogen population size, produced less necrotic tumours, and sharply altered the localization of the pathogen in the hyperplasic tissue, which may pose epidemiological consequences. Confocal laser scanning microscopy combined with fluorescent tagging of bacteria revealed that when PICF7 was absent the pathogen tended to be localized at the knot surface. However, presence of the BCA seemed to confine P. savastanoi at inner regions of the tumours. We have recently shown that mitochondrial fission is induced early in reprogramming in a Drp1-dependent manner; however, the identity of the factors controlling Drp1 recruitment to mitochondria was unexplored. To investigate this, we used a panel of RNAi targeting factors involved in the regulation of mitochondrial dynamics and we observed that MiD51, Gdap1 and, to a lesser extent, Mff were found to play key roles in this process. Cells derived from Gdap1-null mice were used to further explore the role of this factor in cell reprogramming. Microarray data revealed a prominent down-regulation of cell cycle pathways in Gdap1-null cells early in reprogramming and cell cycle profiling uncovered a G2/M growth arrest in Gdap1-null cells undergoing reprogramming. High-Content analysis showed that this growth arrest was DNA damage-independent. We propose that lack of efficient mitochondrial fission impairs cell reprogramming by interfering with cell cycle progression in a DNA damage-independent manner. 相似文献

The electrophoretic pattern of serum proteins has been studied in short-term prehepatic portal hypertensive rats since atrophy is produced in the liver, which is the main origin of most of these proteins, during this postoperative period. After 28 days of evolution, rats (n = 9) with triple stenosing ligated portal vein showed hypoalbuminemia, hypo-alpha-globulinemia, hyper-alpha2-globulinemia and hyper-gamma-globulinemia, the albumin/globulin ratio decreased with respect to the control animals (n = 8). These alterations are associated with hepatic atrophy, portosystemic and portohepatic (44.4%) collateral circulation. The proteinogram alterations found in rats with short-term prehepatic portal hypertension suggest that hepatic failure exists in spite of potential portohepatic revascularization which is frequently originated by the development of portohepatic collateral circulation. 相似文献

Vesicles of phosphatidylcholine/cholesterol mixtures show a wide composition range with coexistence of two fluid phases, the 'liquid disordered' (cholesterol-poor) and 'liquid ordered' (cholesterol-rich) phases. These systems have been widely used as models of membranes exhibiting lateral heterogeneity (membrane domains). The distributions of two fluorescent probes (a fluorescent cholesterol analog, NBD-cholesterol, and a lipophilic rhodamine probe, octadecylrhodamine B) in dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine/cholesterol vesicles were studied, at 30 degrees C and 40 degrees C. The steady-state fluorescence intensity of both probes decreases markedly with increasing cholesterol concentration, unlike the fluorescence lifetimes. The liquid ordered to liquid disordered phase partition coefficients K(p) were measured, and values much less than unity were obtained for both probes, pointing to preference for the cholesterol-poor phase. Globally analyzed time-resolved energy transfer results confirmed these findings. It is concluded that, in particular, NBD-cholesterol is not a suitable cholesterol analog and its distribution behavior in phosphatidylcholine/cholesterol bilayers is in fact opposite to that of cholesterol. 相似文献

Anaplasma phagocytophilum and some piroplasm species are pathogens mainly transmitted by Ixodes ricinus. Considering that this tick species is predominant in north‐western Spain, individual specimens (652 nymphs, 202 females and 202 males) and 23 larval pools were processed to determine the prevalence of these pathogens in questing I. ricinus from that region. Additionally, Dermacentor marginatus, Dermacentor reticulatus, Ixodes frontalis and Ixodes acuminatus were individually analysed. The groESL operon as well as the 16S rRNA and msp2 genes of Anaplasma were analysed. Similarly, piroplasms were identified at the 18S rRNA gene and the ITS1 of Babesia spp. and Theileria spp. Babesia venatorum (1.5%), A. phagocytophilum (0.7%), Babesia microti (0.3%) and Theileria sp. OT3 (0.2%) were detected in I. ricinus. A single I. frontalis (8.3%) tested positive to A. phagocytophilum. Although a low percentage of I. ricinus were infected with A. phagocytophilum and piroplasms, a potentially human pathogenic variant of A. phagocytophilum was detected, and both Babesia species found were zoonotic. Since the vector of Theileria sp. OT3 remains unknown, further investigations are needed to unravel the role of I. ricinus in the transmission of this piroplasm. 相似文献

Abstract This study proposes a bioclimatic characterization and a new biogeographic division for the Antarctic territories up to the province level following the criteria and models of Rivas-Martínez et al. The Antarctic Kingdom comprises the continent of Antarctica, the surrounding ice-covered Antarctic islands, and the associated cold oceanic islands and archipelagos. It has two biogeographic regions: the Antarctic Region and the Subantarctic Insular Region. The Antarctic Region includes the entire pergelid Antarctic continent and the surrounding islands and archipelagos, and is characterized by upper suprapolar hyperoceanic and oceanic or Polar pergelid bioclimates on the coasts. The region has been divided into three pr6ovinces: Maritime Antarctica, West Antarctica and East Antarctica. The Subantarctic Insular Region comprises the circumantarctic islands and archipelagos that are widespread at the southern tip of the planet’s most important oceans, mostly in the subtemperate latitudinal zone inside or not far from the Antarctic Convergence. Bioclimatically, all insular subantarctic territories (excluding the South-American Tierra de Fuego, Terra Magellanica and large islands) are characterized by thermo-suprapolar and semipolar antarctic hyperoceanic bioclimates on the coasts. Four provinces – Falklandian-South Georgian, Kerguelenian, Macquarian and Aucklandian-Campbellian – have been recognized in this region. To better understand how ceramide modulates the biophysical properties of the membrane, the interactions between palmitoyl-ceramide (PCer) and palmitoyl-sphingomyelin (PSM) were studied in the presence of the fluid phospholipid palmitoyl-oleoyl-phosphatidylcholine (POPC) in membrane model systems. The use of two fluorescent membrane probes distinctly sensitive to lipid phases allowed a thorough biophysical characterization of the ternary system. In these mixtures, PCer recruits POPC and PSM in the fluid phase to form extremely ordered and compact gel domains. Gel domain formation by low PCer mol fraction (up to 12 mol %) is enhanced by physiological PSM levels (approximately 20-30 mol % total lipid). For higher PSM content, a three-phase situation, consisting of fluid (POPC-rich)/gel (PSM-rich)/gel (PCer-rich) coexistence, is clearly shown. To determine the fraction of each phase a quantitative method was developed. This allowed establishing the complete ternary phase diagram, which helps to predict PCer-rich gel domain formation and explains its enhancement through PSM/PCer interactions. 相似文献
