X-ray electron probe microanalysis of a Neurospora crassa hyphal preparation revealed a significant heterogeneity of the potassium content in the hyphae. Low-potassium areas were found in a close proximity of the growing tip and in the distal part of the hyphae in the submembrane area of about 1 microm width. The intracellular potassium concentration was shown to change more than 3-5 times from apical to distal regions of the leading hyphae, the potassium contents in the apical part of the hyphae usually being minimal. We suggest that the content of intracellular potassium is determined by the volume occupied by free intracellular water, i.e., by the size of the space available for diffusion of substances, including inorganic ions.  相似文献

Mesocoelium lanfrediaesp. nov. (Digenea: Mesocoeliidae) inhabits the small intestine of Rhinella marina (Amphibia: Bufonidae) and is described here, with illustrations provided by light, scanning electron microscopy and molecular approachs. M. lanfrediae sp. nov. presents the typical characteristics of the genus, but is morphometrically and morphologically different from the species described previously. The main diagnostic characteristics of M. lanfrediae sp. nov. are (i) seven pairs of regularly-distributed spherical papillae on the oral sucker, (ii) ventral sucker outlined by four pairs of papillae distributed in a uniform pattern and interspersed with numerous spines, which are larger at the posterior margin and (iii) small, rounded tegumentary papillae around the opening of the oral sucker, which are morphologically different from those of the oral sucker itself, some of which are randomly disposed in the ventrolateral tegumentary region of the anterior third of the body. Addionally, based on SSU rDNA, a phylogenetic analysis including Brachycoeliidae and Mesocoeliidae taxa available on GenBank established the close relationship between M. lanfrediae sp. nov. and Mesocoelium sp.  相似文献

The cytoplasmic concentrations of elements (K, P) in the cytoplasm of rat (Wistar) cardiomyocytes have been determined by electron probe microanalysis. The intracellular content of potassium and phosphorus was determined in early organogenesis and in unfertilized animals. A decrease in the cytoplasmic concentration of phosphorus and an increase in potassium concentration were shown in pregnant animals. Acute hypobaric hypoxia was shown to change the cytoplasmic contents of both elements. The data obtained are discussed in terms of activation of the ion transport system aimed at compensation for cell acidosis and lactosis induced by development of hypoxic deenergization in pregnant animals.  相似文献

The paper presents results of numerical simulations of the electron dynamics in the field of the azimuthal and longitudinal waves excited in the channel of a stationary plasma thruster (SPT). The simulations are based on the experimentally determined wave characteristics. The simulation results show that the azimuthal wave displayed as ionization instability enhances electron transport along the thruster channel. It is established that the electron transport rate in the azimuthal wave increases as compared to the rate of diffusion caused by electron scattering from neutral atoms in proportion to the ratio between the times of electron? neutral collisions responsible for ionization and elastic electron scattering, respectively. An expression governing the plasma conductivity is derived with allowance for electron interaction with the azimuthal wave. The Hall parameter, the electron component of the discharge current, and the electron heating power in the thruster channel are calculated for two model SPTs operating with krypton and xenon. The simulation results agree well with the results of experimental studies of these two SPTs.  相似文献

Daily injection of cyclophosphamide (20 mg/kg body weight) for 7 days resulted in accumulation of 50% of rat bone marrow granulocytes in G2. Tetraploid neutrophils were hypersegmented (7.25 +/- 0.33) in comparison with diploid ones (3.92 +/- 0.33). After 14 days of cyclophosphamide treatment tetraploid hypersegmented neutrophils could be found in peripheral blood. Diploid neutrophils in these animals were also hypersegmented (4.78 +/- 0.14 versus 3.15 +/- 0.02 in control, p less than 0.001). Nucleolar ribosomal gene activities, evaluated by morphometry of silver nucleolar grains, decreased on bone marrow granulocytes in the course of differentiation in control rats. After cyclophosphamide treatment mature granulocytes contained more silver grains than in controls which may be explained by conservation of silver binding sites of nucleoli from the stages of promyelocytes and myelocytes. These results suggest two mechanisms of hypersegmented neutrophil, generation in cyclophosphamide treated rats: the first, via maturation of myelocytes arrested in G2, and second, a direct one, without tetraploid granulocyte involvement.  相似文献

Summary Biologically important elements: K, Na, Mg, Ca, Cl, P, and S were analyzed in Acanthamoeba castellanii. A higher potassium content, as compared with other cations, was detected. Total content of the cation-forming elements: K, Na, Mg, and Ca was ca. 360 mmoles/kg dry weight of the cells. Phosphorus content was estimated as 492 mmoles/kg dry weight. Content of chlorine, a basic cellular anion, was 173 mmoles/kg dry weight. The low level of chlorine appears not the be sufficient to balance all the cations in Acanthamoeba.Distribution of potassium in Acanthamoeba cells was nonuniform and similar to that of phosphorus as shown by X-ray microanalysis technique. Quantitative correlation between phosphorus and potassium as well as the similar distribution of these elements suggests that in Acanthamoeba phosphorus is an essential anion which, being nonuniformly distributed in the cell, determines also a nonuniform distribution of potassium.  相似文献

A procedure for isolating biologically active substances from Galleria mellonella using a culture of isolated giant neurons of mollusc Lymnaea stagnalis as a test-system is described. Fractions capable of activating neurites and inhibiting aggregation of neuronal cells within a range of concentrations from 1 to 30 micrograms/ml were isolated. The fractions obtained have in their chemical composition about 10.5% N, also contain P and S. They have a carbohydrate component.  相似文献
