Dietary nucleotides affect the maintenance of immune responses, tissue repair and polyunsaturated fatty acid metabolism. Orotate, a pyrimidine nucleotide precursor, induces fatty livers by impairing VLDL hepatic secretion. The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in the blood levels of fatty acids and prostacyclin (PGI2) and thromboxane (TXA2) in the weanling rat caused by the dietary intake of nucleotides and orotate. Three groups of rats at weaning were fed a control diet, an orotate supplemented diet (O-50) and a nucleotide supplemented diet (N-50) during 4 weeks, respectively. Absolute values of plasma polyunsaturated fatty acids greater than 18 carbon atoms of the n-6 and n-3 series were increased in the N-50 group and decreased in O-50 with regard to the control. However, the relative fatty acid composition of plasma lipid fractions was mostly unaffected. Plasma 6-keto-PGF1 alpha showed a trend to be increased in N-50 and serum TXB2 was significantly increased in that group. Both eicosanoids were unchanged by dietary orotate intake. These results may be explained because of the increased plasma 20:4n-6 found in rats fed a supplemented nucleotide diet. Thus, nucleotides present in foods appear to modulate PUFA conversion and eicosanoids synthesis in early life.  相似文献

Abstract

The pollen morphology of the Iberian taxa of the genus Xanthium s.l. and of the non-Iberian species X. ambrosioides was studied to help to identify these poisonous, allergenic and invasive taxa and clarify their taxonomic relationships. In addition, the question of the existence and structure of a mesoaperture in the apertural system of Xanthium was also considered. The pollen grains of sections Acanthoxanthium and Xanthium clearly differ by their characters, which supports the separation of both taxa and allows for their distinction based on pollen morphology. It is suggested that the morphological and palynological differences between Xanthium and Acanthoxanthium, together with the lack of hybridisation between the two sections and the monophyly of Acanthoxanthium, could lead to the elevation of the latter to the generic status. The two species of section Xanthium present in the Iberian Peninsula (X. orientale and X. strumarium) and of section Acanthoxanthium are well separated by their palynological features. Likewise, the Iberian subspecies of Xanthium, X. orientale subsp. orientale and X. orientale subsp. italicum are palynologically distinguishable. However, no significant difference could be found between the pollen of X. strumarium subsp. strumarium and of X. strumarium subsp. brasilicum. The pollen data do not support the hypotheses of a hybrid origin for X. strumarium subsp. brasilicum. A mesoaperture intersecting the foot layer and the upper part of the endexine is present in both sections, which is congruent with the results already found for other Asteroideae.  相似文献

The conditions that favor the in vitro synthesis of cellulose from tobacco BY-2 cell extracts were determined. The procedure leading to the highest yield of cellulose consisted of incubating digitonin extracts of membranes from 11-day-old tobacco BY-2 cells in the presence of 1 mM UDP-glucose, 8 mM Ca2+ and 8 mM Mg2+. Under these conditions, up to nearly 40% of the polysaccharides synthesized in vitro corresponded to cellulose, the other polymer synthesized being callose. Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs) are substances that can be used to kill, injure or incapacitate an enemy in warfare, but also against civilian population in terrorist attacks. Many chemical agents are able to generate free radicals and derived reactants, excitotoxicity process, or inflammation, and as consequence they can cause neurological symptoms and damage in different organs. Nowadays, taking into account that total immediate decontamination after exposure is difficult to achieve and there are not completely effective antidotes and treatments against all CWAs, we advance and propose that medical countermeasures against CWAs poisoning would benefit from a broad-spectrum multipotent molecule.  相似文献
