Abstract

D-Mannitol nucleosides with a purine base moiety have been conveniently synthesized strating from 1,5-anhydro-4,6-O-benzylidene-D-glucitol. The 3-OH function of 1,5-anhydro-4,6-O-benzylidene-D-glucitol was selectively protected with t-butyldimethylsilyl group and subsequently converted to the corresponding 0-triflate derivative for the introduction of the nucleobase moietes. These nucleoside derivatives were transformed to 1,5-Anhydro-6-O-MMTr-2-(N6-benzoyladenin-9-yl)-2-deoxy-3-O-TBDMS-D-mannitol and 1,5-Anhydro-6-O-MMTr-2-(N2-isobutyryl-guanin-9-yl)-2-deoxy-3-O-TBDMS-D-mannitol, useful as the building blocks for oligonucleotide synthesis. Also, the synthesis of the corresponding fully deprotected anhydrohexitol nucleosides were achieved for evaluation of antiviral activity test.  相似文献

Adult females of the predatory mite Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias-Henriot are strongly attracted to infochemicals released by plants infested with their prey, the two-spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae Koch), thereby effectively locating their prey. However, we found a consistently lower degree of attraction to these infochemicals for a population of P. persimilis, which is called non-responding population. Here we demonstrate that this low degree of attraction is a contagious phenomenon and that it cannot be explained by differences in abiotic conditions, physiological state and experience of predators or by genetic differences between predator populations. Female predators exposed to dead conspecifics of the non-responding population and their products showed a lower degree of attraction to plant odours and a higher mortality than predators exposed to products of a living conspecific of the non-responding population. This was true 6–7 days after contact with dead conspecifics and their products whereas 2 days after contact no effects were detected. The present results are discussed in view of our hypothesis that the change in foraging behaviour as well as the high mortality rate are symptoms of a contagious disease affecting the non-responding population.  相似文献

Hybridization following secondary contact of genetically divergent populations can influence the range expansion of invasive species, though specific outcomes depend on the environmental dependence of hybrid fitness. Here, using two genetically and ecologically divergent threespine stickleback lineages that differ in their history of freshwater colonization, we estimate fitness variation of parental lineages and hybrids in semi-natural freshwater ponds with contrasting histories of nutrient loading. In our experiment, we found that fish from the older freshwater lineage (Lake Geneva) and hybrids outperformed fish from the younger freshwater lineage (Lake Constance) in terms of both growth and survival, regardless of the environmental context of our ponds. Across all ponds, hybrids exhibited the highest survival. Although wild-caught adult populations differed in their functional and defence morphology, it is unclear which of these traits underlie the fitness differences observed among juveniles in our experiment. Overall, our work suggests that when hybrid fitness is insensitive to environmental conditions, as observed here, introgression may promote population expansion into unoccupied habitats and accelerate invasion success.  相似文献

After three years of apparent stability in tissue culture, the single cell derived shooty crown gall line sNT1.013 produced a revertant shoot which had switched from non-rooting (Rod+) and octopine synthesizing (Ocs+) to Rod- Ocs-, indicating that in this revertant TL-DNA genes 4 (causing the Rod+ trait) and gene 3 (causing the Ocs+ trait) had been inactivated. Southern blots revealed that the inactivation of these T-DNA genes was the result of a considerable rearrangement of DNA sequences, accompanied by deletions and possibly also by DNA amplifications. This study for the first time unambiguously proves that foreign genes which have been introduced via Agrobacterium tumefaciens can, at a low frequency, be inactivated after T-DNA integration because of reorganization of T-DNA sequences during tissue culture. This can be considered as an event of somaclonal variation.  相似文献

The microbial community and extracellular polymeric substances composition of anaerobic granular sludge exposed to selenate (~10 mg/L), cadmium (Cd) and zinc (Zn) (~2 and 5 mg/L) were investigated by high-throughput sequencing and fluorescence excitation emission matrix (FEEM) spectra, respectively. As a response to selenate, Cd and/or Zn exposure, significant fluorescence quenching of fulvic-like acids and humic-like substances was observed. With selenate, Cd and/or Zn in the influent with respective concentrations of 10, 5 and 5 mg/L, the abundance of the phyla Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Spirochaetae, Cloacimonetes and Synergistetes increased significantly, and the dominant taxa in the anaerobic granular sludge exposed to Se, Cd and/or Zn were Halothiobacillaceae (10.2%), Pseudomonas (8.8%), Synergistaceae (7.7%), Spirochaetaceae (7.2%), Blvii28 wastewater sludge group (6.7%), Telmatospirillum (4.6%), Veillonellaceae (4.3%), Geobacter (4.0%) and Enterobacteriaceae (3.0%). Compared with the inoculum, the abundance of the archaea Methanobacterium and Methanosaeta decreased to below detection limit in the UASB reactor after 116 days exposure to Se, Cd and Zn.  相似文献

Biological sulfate reduction can be used for the removal and recovery of oxidized sulfur compounds and metals from waste streams. However, the costs of conventional electron donors, like hydrogen and ethanol, limit the application possibilities. Methane from natural gas or biogas would be a more attractive electron donor. Sulfate reduction with methane as electron donor prevails in marine sediments. Recently, several authors succeeded in cultivating the responsible microorganisms in vitro. In addition, the process has been studied in bioreactors. These studies have opened up the possibility to use methane as electron donor for sulfate reduction in wastewater and gas treatment. However, the obtained growth rates of the responsible microorganisms are extremely low, which would be a major limitation for applications. Therefore, further research should focus on novel cultivation techniques.  相似文献
