This study was aimed to examine the risk of chronic arsenic (As) exposure for the residents living in Nui Phao, Thai Nguyen in the northern Vietnam. Groundwater, vegetables, human hair, and nail samples were collected from volunteers living in Nui Phao. The results revealed that 75% of the groundwater samples had As exceeding the World Health Organization (WHO) drinking water guideline of 10 µg L?1. The result of As concentration for most of the vegetable samples was greater than the WHO/FAO safe (0.1?mg kg?1). The result of hair and nail samples in this study showed that 3.5 and 20% of the samples had As concentration exceeding the level of As toxicity in hair and nails, respectively. The result of health risks indicated that the potential health risk of As contamination is greater for groundwater than vegetables. The total hazard quotient (HQ) value through vegetables ingestion and drinking water exceeded 1.0 suggesting potential health risk for local residents. The calculation of potential carcinogenic risk through both consumption of vegetables and drinking water was low cancer risk in adults. Other food sources and the exposure pathways are needed to exactly assess health risks in this area. 相似文献
Oryza rufipogon Griff. is a perennial species of wild rice widely distributed along the channels and rivers of the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. This study attempted to find centers of diversity among wild rice populations in this area and their inter‐relationships. The highest genetic diversity was found in the Dong Thap population and the lowest in the Can Tho population. Maternal diversity evaluated using chloroplast INDELs detected ten plastid types, five of which were novel relative to other Asian countries. The mitochondrial genome suggested two unique deletions. One 699‐bp deletion via short tandem repeats was accompanied by another deletion including orf153. All accessions carrying the mitochondrial type were found in a particular plastid type. This unique maternal lineage was confined to specific channels where it showed vigorous vegetative growth in comparison to upstream areas where various maternal lineages and maximum genetic diversity occurred. This area along the Mekong Delta is a center of not only nuclear but also maternal diversity. 相似文献
Autocrine motility factor (AMF) is internalized via a receptor-mediated, dynamin-dependent, cholesterol-sensitive raft pathway to the smooth endoplasmic reticulum that is negatively regulated by caveolin-1. Expression of AMF and its receptor (AMFR) is associated with tumor progression and malignancy; however, the extent to which the raft-dependent uptake of AMF is tumor cell-specific has yet to be addressed. By Western blot and cell surface fluorescence-activated cell sorter (FACS) analysis, AMFR expression is increased in tumorigenic MCF7 and metastatic MDA-231 and MDA-435 breast cancer cell lines relative to dysplastic MCF10A mammary epithelial cells. AMF uptake, determined by FACS measurement of protease-insensitive internalized fluorescein-conjugated AMF, was increased in MCF7 and MDA-435 cells relative to MCF-10A and caveolin-1-expressing MDA-231 cells. Uptake of fluorescein-conjugated AMF was dynamin-dependent, methyl-beta-cyclodextrin- and genistein-sensitive, reduced upon overexpression of caveolin-1 in MDA-435 cells, and increased upon short hairpin RNA reduction of caveolin-1 in MDA-231 cells. Tissue microarray analysis of invasive primary human breast carcinomas showed that AMFR expression had no impact on survival but did correlate significantly with expression of phospho-Akt. Phospho-Akt expression was increased in AMF-internalizing MCF7 and MDA-435 breast carcinoma cells. AMF uptake in these cells was reduced by phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibition but not by regulators of macropinocytosis such as amiloride, phorbol ester, or actin cytoskeleton disruption by cytochalasin D. The raft-dependent endocytosis of AMF therefore follows a distinct phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-dependent pathway that is up-regulated in more aggressive tumor cells. 相似文献
A series of Mn2+-doped zinc germinate ZGO:xMn2+ (x = 0–0.05) nanorods was synthesized successfully using a hydrothermal method. XRD revealed that crystal phases of the ZGO:xMn2+ were rhombohedral and in the R-3 space group. The Williamson–Hall equation was also used to explain the strain, nanocrystalline size, and stacking fault. Green LEDs were successfully fabricated by coating ZGO:Mn2+ nanorods onto UV-LED chips. For high color purity, CIE of the fabricated green LEDs were (0.2404, 0.5428), which made this material a promising candidate for fabrication of UV-based green LEDs. 相似文献

The complex climatic and geological history of Southeast Asia has been hypothesised to determine the most important aspects of the current phylogeographical structure and distribution of living organisms throughout the region. To test existing hypotheses, the genetic structure of the tire track eel, Mastacembelus favus, was investigated using 823 bp of mitochondrial DNA cytochrome b from 469 individuals from 51 localities encompassing its native range. The results classified all haplotypes into two major lineages, Lineage 1, which was further divided into Lineages 1a (lower Mekong, eastern Gulf of Thailand and Malay—Thai Peninsula), 1b (Banpakong River), 1c (Chao Phraya, Gulf of Thailand and Malay—Thai Peninsula) and 1d (Khlang Yai River), and Lineage 2, the upper reaches of the lower Mekong and the middle Mekong. Strong genetic discontinuities dated approximately 5 MYA were discovered in the Mekong with limited geographical overlap, suggesting a historically dissected drainage between two sections and species colonisation via different routes. The widespread Lineage 1 showed a strong signature of population expansion during the Pleistocene climate oscillation. Haplotype characteristics in the Malay—Thai Peninsula are hypothesised to result from postglacial dispersal from the Mekong and Chao Phraya through an extended Pleistocene drainage network.

Nature experiences have been linked to mental and physical health. Despite the importance of understanding what determines individual variation in nature experience, the role of genes has been overlooked. Here, using a twin design (TwinsUK, number of individuals = 2,306), we investigate the genetic and environmental contributions to a person’s nature orientation, opportunity (living in less urbanized areas), and different dimensions of nature experience (frequency and duration of public nature space visits and frequency and duration of garden visits). We estimate moderate heritability of nature orientation (46%) and nature experiences (48% for frequency of public nature space visits, 34% for frequency of garden visits, and 38% for duration of garden visits) and show their genetic components partially overlap. We also find that the environmental influences on nature experiences are moderated by the level of urbanization of the home district. Our study demonstrates genetic contributions to individuals’ nature experiences, opening a new dimension for the study of human–nature interactions.Nature experiences have been linked to mental and physical health. Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) play a pivotal role in tumor progression by mediating intercellular communication in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Syntenin-1 induces malignant tumor progression in various types of human cancers, including human lung cancer and regulates biogenesis of sEVs. However, the function of syntenin-1-regulated sEVs and miRNAs in sEVs remains to be elucidated. In the present study, we aimed to demonstrate the role of oncogenic Ras/syntenin-1 axis in the release of sEVs and elucidate the function of syntenin-1-mediated miRNAs in sEVs in lung cancer progression. The results revealed that oncogenic Ras promoted the release of sEVs by inducing syntenin-1 expression; disruption of syntenin-1 expression impaired the release of sEVs as well as sEV-mediated cancer cell migration and angiogenesis. Moreover, we identified three miRNAs, namely miR-181a, miR-425-5p, and miR-494-3p, as onco-miRNAs loaded into syntenin-1-dependent sEVs. Remarkably, miR-494-3p was highly abundant in sEVs and its release was triggered by syntenin-1 expression and oncogenic Ras. Ectopic expression of the miR-494-3p mimic enhanced the migration and proliferation of lung cancer cells as well as tube formation in endothelial cells; however, the miR-494-3p inhibitor blocked sEV-mediated effects by targeting tyrosine-protein phosphatase nonreceptor type 12 (PTPN12), a tumor suppressor. sEVs promoted tumor growth and angiogenesis by downregulating PTPN12 expression; however, the miR-494-3p inhibitor significantly suppressed these effects in vivo, confirming that miR-494-3p acts as a major onco-miRNA loaded into lung cancer cell-derived sEVs. Eventually, the oncogenic Ras/syntenin-1 axis may induce cancer progression by increasing miR-494-3p loading into sEVs in lung cancer cells in the TME.Subject terms: Cancer microenvironment, Non-small-cell lung cancer, Oncogenesis相似文献
