The fatty acid composition of 10 species of estuarine phytoplankton was determined using gas-liquid chromatography. Nine of the species were isolated from Yaquina Bay, Oregon. These species were common components of the phytoplankton of the bay. The tenth species, Isochrysis galbana, was obtained from the Culture Collection of Algae at Indiana University. The 10 organisms comprised 3 species of Chlorophyta, 1 species of Cryptophyta, and 6 species of Chrysophyta. Twenty-eight fatty acids were found in the 10 species. The fatty acids common to all species were 14:0, 16:0, 16:1, 13:0, 18:1, and 18:2. The Chlorophyta were distinguished by a high content of linolenic acid, 18:3. The diatoms were distinguished by very low amounts of C18 acids and high proportion of 20:5. All species contained a high proportion of palmitic acid, 16:0.  相似文献

Fourteen chemically defined hydrolyzable tannins and six impure mixtures of either condensed or hydrolyzable tannins were found to inhibit the gibberellin-induced growth of light-grown dwarf pea seedlings. The highest ratio of tannins to gibberellic acid tested (1000: 1 by weight) inhibited from 80 to 95% of the induced growth for all tannins tested except for two monogalloyl glucose tannins which inhibited only 50% of the induced growth. The lowest ratio tested (10: 1) inhibited the induced growth by less than 25% except for the case of terchebin where 50% inhibition was found. The inhibition of gibberellin-induced growth was found to be completely reversed by increasing the amount of gibberellin in three cases tested. Tannins alone did not inhibit endogenous growth of either dwarf or nondwarf pea seedlings. Eight compounds related to tannins, including coumarin, trans-cinnamic acid, and a number of phenolic compounds were also tested as gibberellin antagonists. Most of these compounds showed some inhibition of gibberellin-induced growth, but less than that of the tannins. At the highest ratio (1000: 1) the greatest inhibition was 55%; at the lowest ratio (10: 1) no more than 17% was observed. These compounds did not inhibit endogenous growth, and the inhibition of gibberellin-induced growth could be reversed by increasing the amount of gibberellin in two cases tested.  相似文献

Enzymes associated with glycerolipid biosynthesis were examined in microsomal fractions of liver and adipose tissue obtained from swine of various ages. Generally, liver glycerophosphate acyltransferase, phosphatidate phosphohydrolase, diglyceride acyltransferase, and choline phosphotransferase activities were substantial at birth but increased 2- to 3-fold by day 14 postpartum, decreased at day 25, then increased at the oldest ages studied (up to 155 days postpartum). In adipose tissue, enzyme activities were low at birth and developed through day 25 in a pattern generally similar to that observed in liver. In contrast to liver, the adipose enzymes were depressed immediately postweaning (day 32) with subsequent recovery. The observed decline in adipose tissue enzyme activities expressed on a tissue basis at older ages was primarily the result of increased adipocyte size, since the activities expressed on a cell basis did not decline as rapidly. In both liver and adipose tissue, phosphatidate was the major glycerolipid synthesized by the microsomal glycerophosphate acyltransferase enzymes at all ages (generally greater than 75%). The ratio of neutral lipids to phospholipids produced by acylation of glycerophosphate was increased when a microsomal--cytosolic preparation was used as a source of enzyme in contrast to a microsomal preparation.  相似文献

1994年7月,在我国返回式卫星FSW-2上进行了第2次空间蛋白质结晶实验.该次实验中的晶体生长状况明显优于首次空间实验结果,参加实验的10种蛋白质中有9种蛋白质在空间长出了晶体,48个样品的单晶产生率达70%以上.其中3种蛋白质在空间长出较大单晶体,能用于X射线衍射实验和收集强度数据.这3种蛋白质中,除了在首次空间实验中长出较大晶体的溶菌酶,还有由于结晶条件优化而结晶效果明显改进的酸性磷脂酶A2和斑头雁氧合血红蛋白.微重力条件对蛋白质晶体生长的良好效应在本次实验中得到进一步证实.  相似文献

Halosaccion americanum, a member of Palmariaceae, was grown in culture from spores and the life history was critically examined by the use of scanning EM and light microscopy. A mature tetrasporangium of H. americanum produces four spores that germinate to form two male and two female gametophytes. The male gametophytes grow to maturity in approximately eight months and macroscopically resemble the tetrasporophyte. Following the first division of the tetraspore, the two-celled female gametophyte consists of a vegetative cell and a carpogonium with trichogynes. Fertilization is accomplished by spermatia from male plants of the preceding generation, as male plants of the same season are immature. Spermatia are formed in a continuous layer over the surface of the mature male gametophytes and, when released, are entrained in long strands of mucous. Spermatia adhere to and fuse with trichogynes and, nuclear fusions presumably follow. The carposporophyte is absent; the new tetrasporophyte develops directly from the fertilized carpogonium. Growth of the sporophyte eventually obliterates the female gametophyte, and development into a mature tetrasporophyte proceeds over a period of approximately eight months. The development of H. americanum, with its extremely abbreviated female gametophyte stage and direct development of the tetrasporophyte from the zygote, indicates that this rhodophyte has the same life history as reported for other members of the Palmariales.  相似文献

The metabolism of several ring C and D-functionalized ent-kaur-16-en-19-oic acids by cultures of Gibberella fujikuroi, mutant B1-41a, to the corresponding derivatives of the normal fungal gibberellins (GAs) and ent-kaurenoids is described. A range of 12α- and 12β-hydroxyGAs and ent-kaurenoids are characterized by their mass spectra and GC Kovats retention indices. The mass spectral and GC data are used to identify the 12α-hydroxy derivatives of GA12, GA14, GA37 and GA4 (GA58), and of the 12β-hydroxy derivatives of ent-7α-hydroxy- and ent-6α, 7α-dihydroxykaurenoic acids, in seeds of Cucurbita maxima. Similarly the metabolites of GA9, formed in seeds of Pisum sativum and cultures of G.fujikuroi, mutant B1-41a, are identified as 12α-hydroxyGA9. ent-11β-Hydroxy- and ent-11-oxo-kaurenoic acids are metabolized by the fungus to the corresponding 11-oxygenated derivatives of the normal fungal ent-kaurenoids and some C20-GAs; no 11-oxygenated C19-GAs are formed. Grandiflorenic acid, 11β-hydroxygrandiflorenic acid, attractyligen and ent-15β-hydroxykaurenoic acid are metabolized to unidentified products.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the metabolism of gibberellin A20 (GA20) to gibberellin A1 (GA1) by tall and mutant shoots of rice (Oryza sativa L.) and Arabidopsis thaliana (L.) Heynh. The data show that the tall and dx mutant of rice and the tall and ga5 mutant of Arabidopsis metabolize GA20 to GA1. The data also show that the dy mutant of rice and the ga4 mutant of Arabidopsis block the metabolism of GA20 to GA1. [17-13C,3H]GA20 was fed to tall and the dwarf mutants, dx and dy, of rice and tall and the dwarf mutants, ga5 and ga4, of Arabidopsis. The metabolites were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography and full-scan gas chromatography-mass spectrometry together with Kovats retention index data. For rice, the metabolite [13C]GA, was identified from tall and dx seedlings; [13C]GA1 was not identified from the dy seedlings. [13C]GA29 was identified from tall, dx, and dy seedlings. For Arabidopsis, the metabolite [13C]GA1 was identified from tall, ga5, and ga4 plants. The amount of [13C]GA1 from ga4 plants was less than 15% of that obtained from tall and ga5 plants. [13C]GA29 was identified from tall, ga5, and ga4 plants. [13C]GA5 and [13C]GA3 were not identified from any of the six types of plant material.  相似文献
